Alta Strada is one of my favorite restaurants. Great location and nice ambiance. Didn’t drink this past visit but cocktails are always good. Staff is friendly and attentive. This most recent visit we shared the ricotta appetizer as well as the arugula salad which were delicious. Ordered the lasagna bolognese as my entree which was on the speciality menu. Came out hot and bubbly however I was disappointed to find the lasagna was cool to lukewarm in the center. Didn’t want to put a damper on my friends dining experience so just ate my meal. I was told the pasta was made fresh that morning but seems to me it may have been previously frozen.

The food and service were both excellent. My ravioli was really fabulous. The restaurant was a bit noisy and crowded, but it was a Saturday evening. We were appreciative of the booth location to the back/side of the restaurant which afforded us a quieter spot. I'd definitely go back and recommend the restaurant to others.

Best place in Mosaic (and the surrounding area) to go for dinner. Always excellent food, expansive wine list, and spot on service. Do everyone a favor though and make a reservation. Don't expect to walk in and get a table on a Saturday night, even a cold and rainy one...

Already recommended Alta Strada in Mass and NoVA. Food was better than 5 stars. My only issues are that it is so loud, it's hard to talk. Also, after being seated, we got water from the busboy who said our waiter would be right there. 15 minutes later we were still sitting there. Finally my husband asked a waitress who was walking by if she could please find our waiter. She came back a few minutes later, told us that she wasn't our waitress, but she did take our order. Granted, we did arrive early for our reservation. We often do this because in many restaurants, even with a reservation, we still end up waiting 10-20 minutes. At the end they did give us a free dessert, but that may have been because it was my birthday. Overall it was a nice time and the food was amazing.

The service was great and the food was delicious! The waiter was well knowledgeable on the entire menu making recommendations when asked. He was also very attentive and knew when to ask if there was anything else needed. Recommend a reservation especially after 6:00 pm. Food was absolutely delicious!! Can’t say enough great things about the restaurant.

Service was ok, but the food was terrible. My husband had to send his first meal back because it literally inedible, and the second wasn’t much better. We ended up splitting mine, which was decent, not great. Won’t be back.

This restaurant and the food was nice enough and the service was good, but the music was too loud for a dinner with someone I just started dating. There was a lot of, "what did you say?" etc.

Valentine's Day was our third time coming to Alta Strada. The food is always great and the wait staff has been very friendly. I was surprised there didn't seem to be anything special for Valentine's Dinner, although I saw they did have a brunch. It can be very noisy and some of the vegetarian pasta options seem overpriced, but overall this is a great place.

My wife and I shared an early Valentine's dinner. Service was excellent. The food was excessively salty, both the pizza and branzino, and the pizza was underbaked, so crust was doughy and not crispy. Wine was overpriced at 3 times retail. I don't mind 2 times retail at a restaurant, but 3 times retail price is irritating. I would still recommend for pizza / salad lunch special based on a previous visit to Alta Strada.

We went with another couple after a movie. We recommended the restaurant. We wanted a 4:30 reservation, based on when the movie was scheduled to end. OpenTable said no reservation until 5, so that's what I reserved. We went in around 4:35 and the place was almost empty! My wife and I knew what we wanted so we barely glanced at the menus handed to us. The waitress asked if we wanted water, we all said yes, but I said only one glass for my wife and me. Then asked if we wanted ice, and we all said yes. As we were chatting, she poured water--four glasses no ice! I had my head turned so I didn't catch her pouring the fourth glass for me. I reminded her, and she abruptly snatched the glass of water away. Then we reminded her about the ice. She brought us glasses of ice, leaving it for us to combine them. My wife and I order the arugula salad, then the chicken parm and spaghetti all to share. The woman of the other couple ordered a burger rare. The man also ordered a burger medium well. After the waitress left, the wife expressed surprise that her husband had ordered a burger. He said that he didn't see anything else on the menu that he liked. Seemed odd. A while later, the waitress came by to say that our food would be out shortly. We said "what about our salad?" She said "Well, they get salads with their burgers, so I thought that I'd bring yours out all together too." We said "Oh no, we want it beforehand" so she brought it. Thye didn't split the salad or the spaghetti for us, but, to their credit, they did split chicken parm. They were all great. The man's burger came as ordered, but the woman's came well done. She sent it back. After a while, someone from the kitchen came out to tell her that was the last burger, but he would "go across the street and get one." Then he came back to say they found another one. It came out well done again!! They gave us the lunch menu instead of the dinner menu. At 4:30??!! So that's why our friend didn't see anything on menu he liked.

I was lucky enough to try Alta Strada the first week it opened. My friend and I loved the food- wonderful flavors, seasonings just right, not heavy as Italian can be. We brought our best friends with us last weekend after a movie. Still the charming- tho now crowded- cafe. The bread was just a delicious as I remembered: soft with a wonderfully crunchy crust. The Casarecce Pasta was excellent- thank you for cutting the shrimp into bite sized pieces, light and fresh. The Branzini was declared beautifully seasoned and cooked by one member; the Grilled Hanger Steak was cooked just right exactly as ordered and was tender and flavorful. Our one complaint would be the slowness of the service. Granted the restaurant was a full house but it took some time for us to finally get a waiter, a wait for our bread and a wait for reorders of wine which didn't come until we were through with dinner. In spite of this, I would give them a chance and enjoy the food. It is quite delicious.

Alta Strada was not at all what we expected, which based on the pictures and description was moderately upscale Italian--something more refined than a red-sauce neighborhood place. We went for a Sunday brunch and found the restaurant was mostly filled with families with young kids, ranging from high-chair age to elementary school age. This is great for families, and there was a time when we would have been among the stroller-pushers coming to a place like Alta Strada. But it was not what we were looking for that day.

The brunch was also marked by an extremely slow kitchen (which must have been very tough for those families with young kids). Maybe the kitchen and dining room were both short staffed, because our appetizer and entrees took a long time to appear and our drinks were refreshed only when we flagged down the server and asked for more. When the food appeared the server referred to the kitchen "getting slammed", but the dining room was only 3/4 full so it didn't seem like it could be a big slam.

We are serious movie goers and foodies, so the combination of a movie at Angelika followed by dinner at Alta Strada is what we call a perfect day. We often order the Pizza Margherita with added mushrooms and olives. Their salmon and branzino are two other favorites of ours (we're pescatarians). The waitstaff is super friendly, another reason why this is our go-to Mosaic restaurant.

I participated in brunch restaurant week. I was slightly disappointed to find out the one brunch item i was really looking forward to trying was not on the restaurant week menu, however i ordered the shrimp and grits and found it delightful. Also would have been nice to have coffee or a beverage included but for $22 for three courses i cant really complain. The brussel sprouts are amazing! and although i would never usually order something of sorts, the dessert "make your own Oreo" concept was clever and tasty without being overly sweet. Overall great service, they even gave us complimentary pastries similar to donut holes with a chocolate sauce which were very tasty as well. This was my second time here, the first was for dinner and everything i had i remember being delicious. Would recommend!

This was a restaurant week visit; 3 courses, 2 of which were phenomenal-arugula salad mafalda w/mushrooms fantastic; branzini prepared perfectly. We were so looking forward to dessert (although we were happily stuffed at that point), particularly tiramisu done well by experts...SO disappointing! The idea to sort of deconstruct traditional tiramisu & throw in candy was not a good one—coffee flavor & marscapone missing as were ladyfingers apparently. Cheesecake was missing the cream cheese punch & covered in too much sweetness. As I say, rest of the meal including cocktails was just terrific-2 out of 3 on a busy restaurant week Friday night isn’t too bad. We’ll be back but likely will skip dessert next time. Server was very pleasant & welcoming.
