Great service and food. It's a small place so the noise level could be high.
This is a perfect contemporary Mexican cuisine place. I don't like Mexican food, but this food is an exception!
Came here before a concert at Barclays Center. The staff was very kind as we drove in from CT and hit a lot of traffic, but they accommodated our reservation still. Was able to find street parking on a Saturday night and then drove closer to the venue.
The food here is awesome and the bartender and staff only make it more enjoyable.
Highly recommend: queso fundido simple with their own hand made tortillas to start. We had their special for the evening and also ordered off the menu: pumpkin blossom quesadilla and octopus.
Will definitely return and recommend to others.
Great night w/ 4 friends - place had a good vibe - delicious dinner w/ cocktails + music = great Friday night without going out out
I really enjoyed this place when it first opened. This last visit was disappointing. I understand that restaurants are busy on Friday nights, but I really cannot stand when I feel like I am being rushed every step of my meal and it is clear that they are trying to turn the tables. I get it. You have reservations and seats need to clear at certain times. But, maybe, kindly let your guest know that when they sit down or make their reservation. Instead, of rushing your guests through their meal and right after they order a glass of wine saying, "We need this spot in 15 minutes." The food is good, but it isn't so great that I'll miss not going back.
Alta Calidad is a lovely, cozy option for a dinner date or a night out with friends. I loved the tapas-style approach to the menu; we shared a number of dishes and everything was flavorful and creative. I will definitely be back, and am looking forward to exploring more of the menu then!
I know perfect Mexican food and I can say that everything I ate was perfectly prepared and presented! The steak tacos are spectacular!
Love coming here for brunch! Great bottomless deal with food that is consistently good every time we come. We had a larger party and were seated right away and had great service throughout our meal. Highly recommend!
Good food, great service and the overall vibe was enjoyable!
Enjoyed my time at Alta!
Always a lovely experience! Food is fabulous, food is outstanding!!
Been visiting Alta since it opened and is easily one of the best restaurants in Prospect Heights. Food is just amazing. Their menu is seasonal which keeps things fresh and interesting, with a core set of mainstays that are always worth the price. Service is consistent, warm, friendly, and attentive. Beautiful interior with that perfect atmosphere that lends itself to romantic date to friends get together to casual brunch. Only quip is I’d like to see a revisit on the cocktail menu, which in this neighborhood just doesn’t match up with its peers. That’s aside it’s great :)
Very underwhelming. Was expecting more considering the reviews. Not bad just not great.
Celebrated my birthday with a group of friends. Service was great! Our server was very chill, very knowledgeable and helpful. Dinner was delicious and plates were great for sharing, hi-top seating made it that much easier. Drinks were also yummy. Everyone had a great time. The space was never too crowded which was nice, and the vibe was a great primer for Friday night out in BK. I'll definitely return.
It’s a pretty setting with friendly servers. There were few vegetable-centric items on the menu, and the ones we did have provided small portions and, most disappointingly, poor quality of produce for the price. Arugula in salad was almost uniformly yellow, for example. Restaurant seems to be a place to pay daintier (read higher) prices to eat a daintier version of drinking chow in a daintier version of a Mexican themed bar. If that’s your jam, you’ll be happy. If you’ve come to enjoy high-quality ingredients prepared well, go somewhere else. Or come with your own backup salt, citrus, hot sauce, and healthy greens to boost the flagging cuisine.
I loved the cocktails and all of our dishes. Thank you!
My new favorite restaurant! I'm obsessed The menu is so special and interesting, with the freshest seasonal ingredients.
It was great except for the fact that it was extremely humid out and the AC/s weren't working that well so not very comfortable...need better ACs
This is one of the best Mexican restaurants in all of New York City. Innovative dishes. Super consistent. Always a crowd pleaser.
As a party of six, my colleagues and I enjoyed seats by the front door. The service was excellent: helpful menu descriptions and honest assessments about how much to order. We enjoyed the cocktails, beer selection, and wine list. There was a beverage for all of us, non-alcoholic included. The dishes are unique, well cooked, and nicely plated. A great evening!
Really excellent food.
Ate every item on the menu. Delicious.
Attentive staff. Six people at our table, all said they would return.
The menu was creative and the food absolutely delicious. And excellent cocktails!
It was a fabulous dining experience. Inventive and creative food, lovely combinations of flavours, gorgeous relaxed ambiance and beautiful surroundings. And the service was exceptional. We left bursting at the seams and with a very reasonable check.
Really great brunch special, fabulous margaritas. Food was good (some dishes were pretty small), restaurant was pretty full but not packed. Music was a little loud.
Excellent food and great service, and quiet enough to hear the conversation, at least at 6:00 pm when the restaurant was not crowded. Small plates, so you'll probably need to order more than one plate per person. (We split three entrees among two people, and that was enough, but we weren't especially hungry.) Very good happy hour specials.
The food is amazing and cocktails are so delicious. It was during a heatwave and it definitely could've been cooler in there, but it was tolerable. The food is not cheap for tapas, but really the quality is fantastic.
I love Alta Calidad, food and service were great however the restaurant was warm, it's a heatwave here in NY so we wish the restaurant was cooler but everything else was great.
Food was excellent. Restaurant was really loud - both the music and the other guests. Like West Village bar loud
Superior food and service at a fair price. Best kind of Brooklyn resto. Geezers like myself beware - quite noisy.
The food and service at Alta Calidad is absolutely outstanding. I had the pleasure of dining here with a couple friends, and we chose to get several dishes recommended to us by our wonderful server Steve. Most of the dishes are smaller plates so it makes sense to get a few and share- highly recommend the octopus/pork belly skewers, the tempura shrimp tacos, and the tres leches cake for dessert. Friendly atmosphere and great for catching up with friends, couples on dates, and even families. Highly recommend!
Love this place! This is the second time we've gone to Alta Calidad for brunch and the food is delicious. Their twist on Mexican cuisine is really eclectic so the menu has a variety of different offerings. I got the steak & eggs tacos which were surprisingly filling (and tasty). I recommend their $31 brunch deal where you get any entree + 1 hour bottomless on margs, mimosas and bloodies. I'll be back soon!
Terrific service and elevated Mexican cuisine. Great vibe, a very talented kitchen.
The food is absolutely incredible. The torta (which has been moved to the lunch menu) is divine and what had us come for dinner. We got the steak tacos and the pumpkin blossom quesadilla. Both are perfectly balanced with excellent subtlety in the flavor palette--seriously some of the best tacos I've had in NYC and they compare quite nicely to tacos in LA and SF. The staff is wonderful, the cocktails were great, and the ambiance is excellent.
I highly recommend making reservations because it's very popular. Go for lunch and eat the torta and then come back for dinner.
Our dinner at Alta Calidad was outstanding in every way. Such a pretty restaurant, an excellent waitperson, marvelous food. Save room for the carrot halvah tres leches cake!
Been twice with friends and covered the menu, and everything was great. Fresh, delicious and well balanced. Hearty portions that aren't too heavy. Great drinks too!
Quick service and delicious food as always. A little cramped for space and our table wasn’t ready for 15 minutes even though we had a reservation, but definitely worth the wait and the hubbub.
Always a great brunch! The Mexican roti paired with a cold brew coffee is the perfect way to wake up on the weekend.
I had an overall great experience but the bartender on 6/23/2019 around 5pm was not polite or courtesy at all. I know everyone has their days but usually the bartender is the nicest person in the restaurant.
Tempted not to recommend this place because we genuinely want to keep it to ourselves. This is one of the best spots on what is arguably the best dining street in Brooklyn. That rare combination of innovative and authentic Mexican with familiar comfort and delightful surprises, A.C. also maintains an obsessive focus on quality food nestled into a deeply relaxing vibe.
