Alpenrose Restaurant - Holland
Outstanding! Wonderful entrée selections, Enjoyed so much we even said we might consider driving the 2.5 hours to come to this restaurant. We were in area for a wedding.
First time visit (we went at lunchtime on a Sunday) and looked at lunch menu online. Didn't see anywhere on their website that it said they only serve brunch on Sundays so we were disappointed to not be able to try items off the regular menu. However, the food we did try from the buffet was very good! Nice staff and relaxing ambiance. Will try again on a different day.
Sunday brunch at the Alpen Rose is the best in town. Do not overlook the salads. They are fantastic.
It was a wonderful meal as usual. The service was very attentive.
our lunch time at Alpenrose wasn't as good as it usually is. Our server was not very pleasant, plus she said some things regarding the silverware that didn't make any sense. If they are short of help, that is not the fault of the customer. The food was still good, we had the soup bar. Its one of our favorite places to go for lunch and dinner so will not count this as our decision if we go again. We usually have a 5 start for everything here.
Had three small plates for our meal with a glass of wine. Delicious. Went back the next night to try the other starters. Very friendly and efficient service. Will return when in Holland again. And could hear each other talk! So nice not to have to yell over music.
Ryan and Aaron a newly trained server did an excellent job of taking care of us.
The food was great and a nice amount for the price.
We love eating here. It’s a great choice of Entrees on the menu. The desserts are so pretty and tasty!
We were there for an extended family dinner and enjoyed predinner drinks and the premier dining. The
steak, salmon, and truffle ravioli were excellent. We had a very enjoyable time. Hopefully our group wasn't too loud.
We enjoyed the cheese fondue as a starter, the salmon and filet, then panna cotta for dessert. Phenomenal waiter, amazing food, best outdoor dining at the end of summer.
To start, I'm very pleased and will go again. I've been before too. Just a few things that are just me...the foot rail on the tables are in the way and there is no way to put your legs comfortably. There was no beef of any kind and the chicken nuggets were (although they went fast) small and obviously cheap processed food...everything else was great. Since I was there last, they added a very nice plentiful salad section to the brunch as well as an omelette station Orange juice, cereal and milk along with a huge array of breads and deserts. Like I said, I'll be back...nothing is perfect. :-)
We celebrate many birthdays and anniversaries at Alpen Rose. Great menu selections, good food, money-saving specials, and tremendous service.
Enjoyed the European menu options and the very friendly waitress.
My wife and I had breakfast at 8:30 am. Very few people, very quiet. At about 9:15 am it got busier but kept its Old World ambience. Food very appealing visually and rich: I had the skillet with hash browns &c, my wife the quiche, much richer thsn she would make it herself. Not sure the kitchen was up to speed when we got there: folks who came after us had a much shorter wait time. But we are on vacation and it was worth the wait.
We ate at Alpenrose on a recent trip to Holland. I was a bit wary about trying it because I thought it might be a corny “theme” restaurant. It’s anything but. The interior is beautiful, lots of pine everywhere, very tastefully done. The food was wonderful. I started with a cup of the mushroom soup and it was excellent. My husband loved his French onion soup as well. My entree was scallops with parmesan risotto. Delicious. My husband had the Jager Schnitzel and he loved it. We would definitely come back to this restaurant in the future.
We met up with some long lost friends and had a wonderful dinner and lengthy visit without feeling rushed at all. Our waiter was most enjoyable!!
Pre-Birthday Dinner. Great Experience!!!
Our meal and the service was very good. My family enjoyed the variety on the menu. However the sun was shining right in the eyes of my daughter and son in law and there was no shade to take care of that problem.
We had a wonderful dinner at Alpenrose!!! Our waiter was terrific with suggestions and was very energetic and personable! We definitely will be back!
The server Ryan was very accommodating and was attentive. The salmon was excellent. I had the risotto, which was excellent! My hubby had the ribeye said it was excellent as well. We love the variety but wish the fish and chips was on the dinner menu.
One of our favorite dining restaurants.
It has been a while since our family has dined together at Alpenrose. This restaurant continues to impress us not only with its many selections, but with the quality of each meal. Our server was efficient, yet friendly and took the time to answer any questions. The room we were in was not crowded, which gave us the opportunity to talk easily. Each of us has a completely different meal, with different appetizers. All of us were (once again) satisfied with our meals; they were incredible! We opted to share desserts, although we were convinced we had “no room!” They were also exceptional! Alpenrose is like a hidden treasure in a somewhat small community; we are so thankful this restaurant is in our area! We would definitely recommend this restaurant for any meal!
It was great.
Great selections of food, service outstanding and very relaxing.
We arrived to a curt and dour hostess, who seated our boisterous reunion between frowning older folks and a young family with babies. The rest of the room was empty. When the server arrived, we had a quick question. Instead of taking drink orders, she left for several minutes and finally returned for drink orders. She served the wrong food to the wrong people. Our water glasses sat empty while the hostess, bus person and server were milling about elsewhere. Server lacked friendliness. Atmosphere was sterile and quiet. The whole evening lacked energy.
I always enjoy the food and service. Though more variety and menu changes would be nice changes, I will return to eat at Alpenrose regardless.
The staff created a special experience for my Granddaughters Birthday. I will quote her," This was the best birthday lunch ever!". Friendly waiter Isaiah, and great lasagna and fish and chips, followed by a chocolate cupcake with chocolate ganache. I would highly recommend Alpenrose.
A perfect dining experience. Fantastic food and great service. We come back whenever we’re in town.
Great food and great service. I will be coming back soon.
Food was excellent and service was first rate. The only problem was trying to decide what to order!
The food was sooo good! Service was great and we also liked the atmosphere. I would go there often if I didn’t live out of state!
We had to do takeout but the food wasn’t tasty at all. Was looking forward to it.
For a Friday night during Tourist season we were surprised that the place was empty. The service was indifferent, the food was ok. The strange thing was we were placed in a basically empty interior room (one other table of 4), while it seemed like there were people in the other rooms that had windows. So our placement was indifference too.
Our party of four had the premier seating meals. Our server was attentive and helpful, not overbearing.
All of us had the atlantic salmon ; it was delicious. The desserts we had to cap off the meal were wonderful!
We were celebrating a 90th Birthday. All enjoyed our lunch...girls especially enjoyed their seafood soup. Was disappointed that soups on the soup trio were not available separately. Apple Strudel was delicious!
Was not able to eat a meal. They only had a brunch/ buffet. Came down to celebrate our
44th anniversary. Was expecting to eat some German food .
The restaurant itself is beautiful and very clean. It was not made obvious that our dining would be buffet only. Some of the food was a bit cold, but still tasty. If we would’ve known it was buffet style, we probably would have gone some where else. I will say the buffet items that they had to choose from or very nice.
Great food, beautiful pine wood in decor. Service friendly.
Cleanliness – first impression, not so good, there appears to be a lack of due vigilance.
•The wooden floor was sticky. Humidity? Mopped with dirty water? Not sure. But every step of ours and the staff made a sticky noise. “Squish! Squish!”
•The wall lamp behind our table looked like the shade was crooked, but then it was noticed the entire lamp was crooked, in need of repair. Closer inspection revealed a quick, sloppy repair had been attempted. It was held together with some hastily wrapped cellophane tape and now sat askew. Does no one care? What does that say about the rest of the place?
•Cobwebs drifted across the outside of the dining room window. Did no one notice?
•On our table were water glasses – quick glance, they were not clean. Fingerprints, smudges from base of the stem to the drinking rim. We asked for clean ones and they were brought. How could that have happened if the staff was truly dedicated and caring?
•The authentic German thick pine tables at Alpen Rose are iconic. For food safety they are likely sealed with a matte finish. Ours had a number of coffee stains and wax drippings as if it had not been well-wiped off.
Our server, Rebecca was very sweet and efficient. Our meal was nicely paced and she checked with us often to make sure everything was OK. Realizing she could not fix the sticky floor, the table stains, the outside cobwebs, or the lamp, we made no statements of concern. She did an excellent job regarding everything that was in her control.
•Beverages were excellent and served promptly.
•Appetizer – a shared fondue was wonderful and plenty for two.
•Salad – very good, just ran out of comment space...
We go to this restaurant every year. They have changed the menu, and it seems more limited, as well as, there are fewer mid-price items. Having said that, what we did order was tasty. Note: the fruit that topped the actual desserts does not look as fresh or as abundant as those shown on dessert cart.
Prime rib was worst cut I have ever had. Was fat, chewy and gristly although other couple I dined with had the same, and it looked much better. Wife loved her scallops.
We had a nice dinner out on the west patio. Good service and food.
