The minute you walked in the restaurant too the minute you left felt like home the food and the service awesome experience
Absolutely outstanding. Had a great time and look forward to visiting again.
Look for the rose by the street number because there is no name on the outside. Ring the bell and they will pop their head out and ask your name - I loved this. A wizard of oz experience for sure..... was we entered the intimate dining room you felt like you were in a cozy library with chandeliers and a wood burning stove. Definitely a place for carnivors...I ordered the branzino which was delicious, but difficult to eat - head to tail....the lobster looked amazing and I will have to go back and try it.
Everything was amazing, from the service to the ambiance, and most of all the food! The ribeye was the best me and my party had ever had, and even the desserts were not to be missed!
Server mike professional, knew his job , great personality
From start to finish the experience was outstanding. I do not eat meat. The server and chef went above and beyond to make my experience on par if not better than the 3 other people who couldn’t stop talking about their meat.
The wine list is way overpriced. The food was good but the mushrooms were very chewy. Charging $5.00 for pillsbury type rolls was angering.
I keep thinking about our whole experience at Alpen Rose since we ate there two nights ago. It was really enjoyable and one of the most unique establishments in Philadelphia. The Baked Alaska was definitely the most delicious dessert we’ve ever tried. Highly recommend!
Great food great service. Unique experience
The service by Jonathan W. was excellent! Our courses were very tasty 😋! The ambiance was perfect and relaxing. During our dinner, we had two sets of diners at the table next to us and they both friendly. We were celebrating my wife’s birthday and the first couple was also celebrating a birthday.
Overall, it was a great experience!
Haven't been arsed to drive from West Chester to Philly for dinner in several years. I'll be going back to this spot soon, however. Gracious, what a divine boneless ribeye. Genuflection also to the potato wedges and the smoked bacon. (Now I know what Banyuls is.) Rock on. We are ready for the BIG MEAT. Carnivores rule.
Amazing ambience, service and menu! Will definitely be back!
Excellent food and service. Terrific ambiance
Best meal from start to finish. I can’t wait to go again.
Was absolutely phenomenal! The décor and entire ambience is world class and amazing!!
From our arrival we were greeted with champagne for our anniversary. From the hostess to the servers everyone was kind, warm and pleasant. The atmosphere is sophisticated, laid back and sexy. The food was exceptional. Everything was done with such extreme professionalism, taste and elegance. It’s a keeper!!! I highly recommend!!!
Love this place. The entire experience is amazing. Cool setting and great food!
Loved the cauliflower steak and avocado salad. (Ribeye was great too.)
I have been here before and it was excellent. This trip I had the veal tomahawk and it was incredibly fatty. I did not return it, maybe I should have. I’ve had the beef tomahawk in the past and was perfect. Very disappointed in this cut . I told the waiter AFTER I ate just the meat and left a pile of fat on my plate that it was very very fatty. That’s the cut was the answer. Disagree....
It was my husband’s 60th Birthday. They were very welcoming when we came in and even put a sparkler in his cake.
Great service, great food, great experience.
I would for the experience however you can get good steaks for a lot less elsewhere recieved the wrong drink because of noise level
steaks were excellent, as were the mushroom side and beet salad. roast beef appetizer and potato wedges were pedestrian. i like the safehouse feel at the front door, and the intimate wood paneled chic library motif inside. for the prices and ambience , i would have expected the clientele to be a bit more well-mannered. there was a large group of misplaced boisterous guys in the corner having a great time, but they were disruptive to everyone around, particularly given the overall smallish size of the venue. they would have been better at a burger joint. to the restaurant's credit, the hostess did politely ask them to settle down eventually. server was very engaging and professional.
Alpen Rose is without a doubt the best restaurant I’ve ever been to. From the food to the service, everything is impeccable. I will return again and again and again. Johnathon is an amazing server! :)
It was an exceptional experience!
I love steakhouses. Alpen Rose is by far my favorite, and my favorite overall restaurant in Philly. It is not your traditional steakhouse. I have now been here three times in six months. The ribeye is phenomenal. Will definitely be back again.
Some of the best steaks in Philly. They have four or five dry-aged steaks from which to choose.
Definitely will go back.
Definitely would recommend to any steak fan.
The service was amazing! The staff made get recommendations for first timers. I had the duck, which I highly recommend if you want to opt out of steak. The most exciting thing was definitely dessert. I had the Baked Alaska, which had a flame come with it.
Compared to other steak houses, and higher priced dinning, I would rate our meal as acceptable. It was nothing special. Staff was polite and friendly.
We loved every minute of our experience at Alpen Rose. We ate at the bar and the bartender Dan was fantastic. He made great drinks, our service was excellent, and he was delightful to talk to. Our meal was one of the best i have ever had anywhere. We will absolutely be returning to Alpen Rose
Our meal was perfect! Porterhouse steak absolutely delicious as was the Branzino. Service was impeccable as well. A delightful and memorable dining experience.
The hidden, locked entrance is just silly. The noise was so bad that we could not hear each other talk. The wine list is extremely limited with very few decent choices and no choices if you like older wines like I do. The food was very average. It took 15 minutes to get our coats when were leaving. Terrible.
Great service , ambiance, and the food was amazing! The door bell and opening is a great touch!
Absolutely my new favorite steakhouse in Philly! The dry-aged steaks were phenomenal and perfectly cooked. Service was friendly, informed and very professional. The decor is intimate, inviting and pure luxe. I'll definitely be back!
Our sons graduation. Mike our server was not only informative about the menu but his personality made our visit even more special!!!
We were excited to try Alpen Rose based on the wonderful reviews. What a lovely restaurant, richly and elegantly decorated. The greeting extended upon entering said "you are special". The drinks were excellent, kudos to the bartender! So the food comes and our guest's rib roast was not edible, as she could not cut though meat's sinew. Reluctantly we explained the dilemma and the waiter suggested the kitchen would cut the meat, however, that did not work. The dish started to look rather unappetizing, so after a time a filet was brought out. Yes it was very good and the staff really worked to correct this debacle. This is not what should have happened at a new restaurant that boasted prime meat. Potential and the chef's reputation suggest that this will be resolved and I wish them the best.
Amazing meal!! So good! The meal start to finish was amazing!
Best meal I’ve had this year
Some of the best food we have had in the city. Best steak hands down in the city. Great duck, beef tartar, and Parker house rolls too.
Really enjoyed our dinner. The food was simply outstanding and the service was as well. The ambiance was great as well. Small dining area but still felt private and upscale. Hard to find the door as it was marked by a simple rose sign near the door. The door is locked and you have to ring the bell. Gives you the feeling of an old “speak easy” joint. We will absolutely return to Alpen Rose.
