Food was excellent, staff was knowledgeable and attentive, and ambiance is great!
One of the coolest restaurants we have been to in Philadelphia. Very intimate and cozy. Service and food were outstanding. Two in our party had the bone-in dry aged ribeye and one said it was the best steak he has ever eaten. The duck was also very good, as were all of the sides. Make sure to get the rolls, they are delicious! Also definitely save room for dessert, the coconut cream pie and the chocolate cake were both fabulous. We all had two additional meals worth of leftovers, portions are very large.
Everything was great! Server was very knowledgeable and friendly. Food tasted great and we didn’t wait long. Everyone was super friendly!! Restaurant was cozy and unique and added to the experience
A secret door - the sign of the rose - a speakeasy vibe and a hidden room. With great food!
I've been to Alpen Rose for business dinners and have always had a great experience. I finally brought my wife for dinner and we couldn't have been happier. The table before us was taking longer than anticipated so the host and hostess escorted us through the kitchen to Double Knot there they provided complementarily Champagne and a cocktail table while we waited for our dinner table to be prepared. Once we were seated, our server reviewed the specials and got us started with some wine. I ordered the boneless NY strip while my wife had the filet. We split potato wedges, mushrooms, and the tuna carpaccio appetizer. Her filet was perfect. I typically go with a filet as well as I like a leaner cut but the server suggested I try the strip which has a nice marbling and robust flavor. A portion of my strip had a large vein of fat which made the latter half of my strip tough to eat although the flavor was excellent. I will be coming back but I think I stick with my filet next time. All in all, it was a lovely date-night.
Food was excellent and the service was fantastic. It was my second time there and this restaurant is very consistent. I cannot wait to go back and explore more of their menu. Positive experience and will continue to go back. Love it at Alpen rose!
My husband and I were so excited to try Alpen Rose and truly could not give it a higher rating for the decor, cocktails, and service. Everyone was so helpful and attentive. We were sat at one of the two booths by the entrance and for just of us two we thought we had one of the best seats in the restaurant. Unfortunately the group next to us were completely inappropriate, loud, screaming profanities the whole time, and just unpleasant to be around. Half of the meal we couldn't hear eachother across the table... the waitress did apologize for their cursing (I'm usually fine with cursing but this was the f word yelled every 3 words) and apologized for them being so loud but I felt like she could have handled it better. We could have been moved or had a manager address... I don't know I've just never been in a situation with such a poor experience because of other guests. In the end if you're going to spend that much on a steak dinner you could probably find a place with a better cut of meat... we had a very fatty cut of meat on top of this whole experience. But, the apps were truly great. We wish there was more of a bar so we could come back for apps and drinks. The fact that the situation was handled so poorly was disappointing... even though the service was truly great is every other aspect.
Great place for dry-aged steaks.
I will go again.
Went to Alpen Rose with friends and we all loved it!
Food is excellent!
The minute you walked in the restaurant too the minute you left felt like home the food and the service awesome experience
Absolutely outstanding. Had a great time and look forward to visiting again.
Look for the rose by the street number because there is no name on the outside. Ring the bell and they will pop their head out and ask your name - I loved this. A wizard of oz experience for sure..... was we entered the intimate dining room you felt like you were in a cozy library with chandeliers and a wood burning stove. Definitely a place for carnivors...I ordered the branzino which was delicious, but difficult to eat - head to tail....the lobster looked amazing and I will have to go back and try it.
Everything was amazing, from the service to the ambiance, and most of all the food! The ribeye was the best me and my party had ever had, and even the desserts were not to be missed!
Server mike professional, knew his job , great personality
From start to finish the experience was outstanding. I do not eat meat. The server and chef went above and beyond to make my experience on par if not better than the 3 other people who couldn’t stop talking about their meat.
The wine list is way overpriced. The food was good but the mushrooms were very chewy. Charging $5.00 for pillsbury type rolls was angering.
I keep thinking about our whole experience at Alpen Rose since we ate there two nights ago. It was really enjoyable and one of the most unique establishments in Philadelphia. The Baked Alaska was definitely the most delicious dessert we’ve ever tried. Highly recommend!
Great food great service. Unique experience
The service by Jonathan W. was excellent! Our courses were very tasty 😋! The ambiance was perfect and relaxing. During our dinner, we had two sets of diners at the table next to us and they both friendly. We were celebrating my wife’s birthday and the first couple was also celebrating a birthday.
Overall, it was a great experience!
Haven't been arsed to drive from West Chester to Philly for dinner in several years. I'll be going back to this spot soon, however. Gracious, what a divine boneless ribeye. Genuflection also to the potato wedges and the smoked bacon. (Now I know what Banyuls is.) Rock on. We are ready for the BIG MEAT. Carnivores rule.
Amazing ambience, service and menu! Will definitely be back!
Excellent food and service. Terrific ambiance
Best meal from start to finish. I can’t wait to go again.
Was absolutely phenomenal! The décor and entire ambience is world class and amazing!!
From our arrival we were greeted with champagne for our anniversary. From the hostess to the servers everyone was kind, warm and pleasant. The atmosphere is sophisticated, laid back and sexy. The food was exceptional. Everything was done with such extreme professionalism, taste and elegance. It’s a keeper!!! I highly recommend!!!
Love this place. The entire experience is amazing. Cool setting and great food!
Loved the cauliflower steak and avocado salad. (Ribeye was great too.)
I have been here before and it was excellent. This trip I had the veal tomahawk and it was incredibly fatty. I did not return it, maybe I should have. I’ve had the beef tomahawk in the past and was perfect. Very disappointed in this cut . I told the waiter AFTER I ate just the meat and left a pile of fat on my plate that it was very very fatty. That’s the cut was the answer. Disagree....
It was my husband’s 60th Birthday. They were very welcoming when we came in and even put a sparkler in his cake.
Great service, great food, great experience.
I would for the experience however you can get good steaks for a lot less elsewhere recieved the wrong drink because of noise level
steaks were excellent, as were the mushroom side and beet salad. roast beef appetizer and potato wedges were pedestrian. i like the safehouse feel at the front door, and the intimate wood paneled chic library motif inside. for the prices and ambience , i would have expected the clientele to be a bit more well-mannered. there was a large group of misplaced boisterous guys in the corner having a great time, but they were disruptive to everyone around, particularly given the overall smallish size of the venue. they would have been better at a burger joint. to the restaurant's credit, the hostess did politely ask them to settle down eventually. server was very engaging and professional.
Alpen Rose is without a doubt the best restaurant I’ve ever been to. From the food to the service, everything is impeccable. I will return again and again and again. Johnathon is an amazing server! :)
It was an exceptional experience!
I love steakhouses. Alpen Rose is by far my favorite, and my favorite overall restaurant in Philly. It is not your traditional steakhouse. I have now been here three times in six months. The ribeye is phenomenal. Will definitely be back again.
Some of the best steaks in Philly. They have four or five dry-aged steaks from which to choose.
Definitely will go back.
Definitely would recommend to any steak fan.
The service was amazing! The staff made get recommendations for first timers. I had the duck, which I highly recommend if you want to opt out of steak. The most exciting thing was definitely dessert. I had the Baked Alaska, which had a flame come with it.
Compared to other steak houses, and higher priced dinning, I would rate our meal as acceptable. It was nothing special. Staff was polite and friendly.
We loved every minute of our experience at Alpen Rose. We ate at the bar and the bartender Dan was fantastic. He made great drinks, our service was excellent, and he was delightful to talk to. Our meal was one of the best i have ever had anywhere. We will absolutely be returning to Alpen Rose
