I have been going to Aloy Modern Thai for a few years now. The quality and the consistency of the food has declined. The spicyness of the food is a crap shoot. They ask you for your choice of none, low medium spicy and very spicy. I have ordered "medium" each time and it has varied considerably each time. I hope the owners spend more time and insist on conistency.
The food is amazing and I'm sure on a night where Billy Joel isn't playing down the street at Coor's Field, this place is amazing all the way around but the entire world knew this event was happening so they should not have been caught off guard with staffing.
I would think any smart business owner of an establishment down in the area, would know everything that's happening that would affect them and prepare for the crowds.
The food was truly amazing and this place I'm sure is amazing on a "regular" night but not having the appropriate staff ready, is not our problem...we're walking in with money to spend and expect not only a great meal but great service.
The appearances by our waitress were extremely scarce and when she did come by, she acted like a victim because of the circumstance she was put in with such a large crowd wanting to eat before the show.
We showed up at 6:40PM for an 8PM show and we didn't get our meals until 7:38PM...that's crazy!! Also our waitress was sort of clueless about Thai food in general so she wasn't much help in that arena. We also would have had another sake of it didn't take almost 20 mins. to get it after ordering.
My advice, learn what's happening in your neighborhood and staff up accordingly as your food it too good, to fail as a restaurant over bad service.
Food was delicious and fresh, and easily met my specific dietary needs. Service was very slow however. We were seated outside and we told our server we had to keep to a kind of tight schedule with a concert to get to. Server said food should only take 20 min or so. That would have been perfect. 50 min later, I asked to get our order to go. Server could not have cared less, moved slowly and seemed annoyed we were asking her to box up our order. The people sitting by us were having the same problem. Hostess kept making excuses and that they were "slammed inside with over 80 reservations" (this should not come as a surprise to them being 2 blocks from Coors Field on an event night) and was less than helpful, rather than stepping up to get us out the door. When I walked inside to attempt to expedite paying our bill, there were empty tables everywhere, and were maybe half full to capacity. We left frustrated and hungry and ate on a trashcan outside of Coors Field. Food was yummy though!
If you go, go with lots time. Good luck!
Terrific food! Best Thai We’ve had in Colorado.
Service wasn’t super attentive and drinks took longer than the food, so timing not great. But food is always delicious!
Called ahead and confirmed the patio was open, but we could only reserve online. reserved a table that was available online, 15min from then. Arrived on time minutes later to have the host rudely insist that the patio was closed, demanding to know who we spoke to. We left, as we had my service dog with me and wanted to sit outside. Walking past again 30minutes later, people were sitting on the patio! The host didn’t say anything about it opening and his attitude ensured I won’t be back, which is a shame because the food is pretty good.
Food was great. Recommend only because the food was so good. Service not so. At first service was great but as it got later and they were closing she made it more important to work on her receipts and tips. Also had a big issue with dessert that we waited on for over 20 minutes.
The food was fresh and very tasty. The staff was friendly.
The food is delicious comes nice and warm! Watch out for 20% gratuity required on parties of 5 or more.
The main issue with our experience was the very long time it took to get drinks. We were a group of 8 celebrating a birthday and it took 30 minutes to get our drinks. We ordered 4 beers and 4 cocktails. The beer (canned) came out after about 10 minutes and then it took another 15-20 minutes to get the cocktails. The food was delivered very timely and was great but it was extremely frustrating to wait so long when you ordered a drink. Most of us only ordered one drink due to the long wait. Drinks have a great mark up and generate a greater tip for the server. If this restaurant wants to survive in that area, they will have to improve this.
Food was amazing cocktails were delicious. Service was very slow.
A wide variety of selectio
Sarah is and has always been exceptional which lead me to always come thru for birthdays along with other fun nights!!!! Great staff, ambiance, and food!! We will be back 😊
The Black Pepper Chicken dish was amazing!
Great food!!!! Especially the wagyu beef on hot rock and the Tom kha soup and drunken noodles everything was delicious!
Food was not very good. Will not be back.
The food was absolutely amazing! However, we did have a reservation for 9:15, I work in the service industry and if you’re going to call last call for bar at 930 and let cal for food I would suggest not alloying guests to make reservations that late. Food is great, service ehhhhhh
If you love Thai food, there is no better Thai restaurant in Denver than Aloy. It's modern decor, fabulous food, and wait staff are all exceptional. Excellent value for your money. This is our go to restaurant for Asian food.
The service was so rushed, in a restaurant that was 25% full, that it made the experience very disappointing. The portions were smaller than we usually get at the Boulder location.
The food and service were excellent, though there was too much, and being tourists, we couldn't take our leftovers home. Also some of it was hard to eat -- duck on the bone, in a sauce = mess.
I was pleasantly amazed at the service, though. The young woman who took our order 1) delivered the correct meal to each person!! 2) brought salt, chopsticks, etc promptly! and was 3) exceedingly pleasant. I can't even remember the last time all those things happened to me in a restaurant.
I took my mom here for her birthday and was disappointed that they didnt acknowledge her special day. I know they knew because the person at the front wished her Happy Birthday.
Wonderfully delicious! Great value! Friendly and knowledgeable waitress who was able to reassure us about numerous gluten-free and dairy-free options (one of us has celiac disease and true allergy to dairy). We had Tom Kha Gai (chicken), Pad Seeauw (spelling? - it is a sweet brown sauce dish with choice of protein, we had chicken) with gluten-free noodles (you have to ask for them) and a delicious mango sticky rice dessert, all for a very reasonable price and left very happy and satisfied! They have real sticky rice like you get in the north of Thailand!
We loved the food and we were able to sit outside which was great!
Family visiting from out of town.
Very good fresh Thai dishes. Great Happy Hour menu.
Good average Thai food. Nothing stands out
But nothing was poor.
Food was fantastic, service was slow getting to us, but great after ordering. No fountain sodas in case you need bubbles such as those.
Everything we had was wonderful. I would highly recommend this restaurant if your looking for a good Thai meal.
The food is FANTASTIC but I would recommend having it delivered because it is the worst service I have ever seen in my 43 years. And this is the first review I have ever written. I was blown away by our server's lack of grace. We went for a special birthday dinner for my close friend who is a paraplegic with a service dog, as well as my 6 year old daughter. I was mortified by the treatment we received and cannot imagine what an owner or manager would have said had they seen it. The food is truly amazing but please do not make the mistake of dining in.
The food is a thoughtful modern take on classic Thai dishes with quality ingredients and excellent flavors. I highly recommend it.
Delicious Thai food. Medium spicy is PLENTY spicy—be warned!
Food was excellent. Service was slow, as it was Mother’s Day. One problem: I did not like the waitress’s assumption that, as the oldest woman at our table, that I was a mother, and handing the dessert menu to me. I’m not a mother, and this offended me.
Amazing food, service, ambiance, and cool downtown setting. Highly recommend!
We went for Happy Hour and the drinks were very reasonable. Portions were good size. Tom Kha soup lacked flavor. We loved the corn fritters and the Drunken Noodles. It may have been quiet because we got there early.
We loved our dinner on the patio with out pup. The food was amazing and we loved the happy hour all day drinks special they had going on. We will be back!
Excellent service, knowledgeable staff, amazing food!
The server was the most arrogant and absent waiter I have had in a while. A Thursday night with very few patrons and we could get no service. He would do the least, stay in the back somewhere and show up every 15 minutes. He was a jerk and I will never go back. This is a Thai takeout place.
He would come take orders and Casper! Disappearing act was noticed when we ran out of drinks, water and finished our food. This place was marginal at best.
Food is really good, I usually go for one of the curries, both the Royal and the Pannang are delicious. Service is always fast. If it were closer to 16th street this place would always be packed!
