"We first imagined Aloette to be the perfect diner that we’d want to dine in – a menu with a great burger paired with a fantastic and fun wine list, a long row of bar stools facing the bar and the kitchen, and an energetic atmosphere accented with an old school hip hop playlist. The buzz of the dining room mirrors the energy of the street on Spadina Avenue; the dining room itself mimics a train’s dining car. It’s kind-of-a-bistro and kind-of-a-diner with an internationally inspired menu which is representative of the diverse cultures in Toronto.

Brunch at Aloette was something we said we’d never do. But the city kept asking and we’re glad to be a new staple in the Queen West neighbourhood for mimosas, chicken and waffles, and piping hot coffees. "

I've dined here over the years and my most recent experience has confirmed that it has lost much of its prior glory. The food is now "ho-hum". The hamburger is not worth the asking price. In the past it was delicious. What changed? Suppliers? Staff? Both? Another item, steak tartar, was just sad. Seriously. It looked like an uneven uncooked hamburger patty but smashed. I love tartar but this was something else. Is the MIchelin Star restaurant upstairs sucking up too much of managements attention? Maybe it was an off day but I would hesitate going back. The menu could use a refresh. The room still looks OK but it is getting rough around the edges.

We had a great experience at Aloette! We had a group of 6 and were told we could squeeze into a booth but when we arrived the booths were far too small to seat 6, the restaurant very kindly arranged 2x seats at the bar for the rest of our party. The food was amazing, we all tried different dishes and loved each of them. Very quaint restaurant, great ambiance. Would absolutely return!

Great food, ambience and service. We were seated at the bar and well cared for notwithstanding it being a busy night. The team clearly work well together to ensure everyone has a great meal. Highly recommend.

Bennett was an exceptional host. He made the smoothest martinis, made helpful suggestions for what to try and was so nice to talk with. I felt like I was sitting at his kitchen counter. The food was really interesting and satisfying. I tried the nduja stuffed olives, the beef tartare and the cucumber salad. Great vibe for a group but also so cozy as a solo traveller.

Staff was exceptional from greeting at the door and throughout the entire experience. We arrived early and they easily shuffled to seat our table. Followed by providing great recommendations and being courteous. Also happy with the pictures they helped to take. Thank you!
