Alo is an intimate contemporary French restaurant located atop a heritage building in downtown Toronto. Our cuisine is internationally inspired and celebrates the finest in seasonal ingredients paired with a genuine sense of welcome, served as a blind tasting menu by Chef Patrick Kriss.

The Bar at Alo is adjacent to our main dining room and offer à la carte options as well as a shortened seasonal tasting menu.

Alo is outfitted with a private dining room which can welcome parties up to 14 guests.

Join us in our dining room for a new tasting menu that features the best ingredients we can source. Our menu is internationally inspired and prepared using classic French technique. We are currently unable to accommodate tasting menus for the following, either by substitution or omission of individual dishes or ingredients: allergies or aversions to dairy, eggs, seafood, soy, alliums, as well as vegan and vegetarian diets. Advance notice of all other dietary restrictions is strongly recommended to ensure that they can be accommodated. The tasting menu is currently offered at $225 per guest and does not include beverages, service charge and tax. Cancellations made less than 72 hours in advance will be charged the full price of the tasting menu per guest.

Our Kitchen Counter features bar-style seating and faces our open kitchen for an engaging dining experience. The Kitchen Counter offers a blind multi-course tasting menu, including luxurious menu items and special courses from our Chefs. We are currently unable to accommodate tasting menus for the following, either by substitution or omission of individual dishes or ingredients: allergies or aversions to dairy, eggs, seafood, soy, alliums, as well as vegan and vegetarian diets. The kitchen counter tasting menu is currently offered at $285 per guest and does not include beverages, gratuity or tax. Private Dining Room - Tasting Menu

Alo's private dining room, equipped with its own bar and kitchen, offers a six-course tasting-menu for up to 14 guests. This unique dining experience begins with a cocktail reception featuring a glass of sparkling wine and a trio of canapés. The pricing for this experience is $295 per guest exclusive of beverages, HST & 20% service charge. Wine pairings are available for an additional $125 per guest. Our private dining room is also available to be booked for lunches. It was exceptional! They were very understanding of the fact that we came straight from the Honda Indy event, and so were underdressed, but they still treated us with respect and professionalism. All 9 courses were amazing, and the wine pairings that went with them were exquisite! My favourite courses were the lobster (5th) and the dessert (9th). I would strongly recommend this restaurant to anyone, it is definitely one of the best in Toronto.

Nothing special about the food, some things were not fresh (Otoro and black truffle). Wine tasting was sub par, our first wine tasted like it had gone stale in the fridge, wines were very young and lacked complexity, didn’t do much to compliment the food pairings. Otoro was overly greasy and fishy, suggesting that it was not fresh. The truffle we had seemed stale, lacked aroma and texture was off. We were also put off that the front of house staff was wearing sneakers - it gave the ambiance a very low brow feeling. Low value aside, the overall dining experience wasn’t worthwhile.

What else can one say but exceptional, in all respects? Greatness, yes. A dimension beyond, well "Beam me up Scottie" (have to be of a certain age to understand the metaphor). Imagination and precision of execution make this experience truly unique.

One of the best meals and experiences I’ve ever had. Have been to restaurants on the 50 best list in Europe and would put this up there with any of them. The food was innovative and delicious. The wine pairings with each course were superb. The service was everything you could ever want. Attentive but not obnoxious. Nice relaxing vibe that lets you truly enjoy your meal. It’s not inexpensive but it is worth it. I can’t imagine doing this meal without the wine pairings. If I were a local this place would be on my circuit.

What can I say that hasn't been said. That star is well earned and well deserved. The moment you step in you are greeted by friendly staff. The attention to details, the personal touch is unparallel. All this, even before we start eating. We had the tasting menu plus wine pairing. All courses were exquisite and all I can say is, please take the time to savour everything. If the Sommelier ask you to take a sip while eating certain food, you do that. The wine pairing brings out the flavours so well, it brings the experience to a whole other level. We didn't take the extra (truffles, etc.) or do any switches, but it looked very promising. Everything has been thought through and everyone in that restaurant truly work as a team. The hip hop playlist is also exactly what the meal needed, adding an extra layer of enjoyment. Thank you so much for being a great place to celebrate important milestones in our lives.
