Almond
Co-founder and chef Jason Weiner creates seasonally focused ever-changing menus that are guided by a market driven ethos. We highlight our personal relationships with growers, fishermen, artisans and winemakers.
Our menus are artisanal and market driven featuring some updated takes on classic french/mediterannean cuisine, ethnic street food and lots of stuff in between.
We are obsessive about the handmade...We hang our own charcuterie, grind our own sausage, ferment our own kimchi, dry age own steaks, and smoke our own fish & bacon.
The wine list, handpicked by co-owner Eric Lemonides, offers an affordable selection of wines. Specialty cocktails, NY craft beers, and raw bar selections, along with the entire menu are available at the restaurant’s 25 seat bar.
Really enjoyed our Pre Fixe lunch today! Both the warm beet salad and brussel sprout salad were great. Main course of pasta and fish tacos were perfect. Our waiter, Sean, was a blast!!
I was in a job interview . I love this place
We were here for one last brunch before one of our friends gave birth and it was a really great time. Food was awesome, and we were satisfied with everything. Almond, thanks for making our last brunch for months a great one!
This was a vibrant neighborhood restaurant. Lovely ambience. Clearly a treasured neighborhood restaurant. Reservations a must. We went for brunch. Loved the menu choices.
We visited during Restaurant Week and had the set dinner options. Brussel sprouts two ways to start, swordfish for entree and sticky toffee & date pudding for dessert. Everything was delicious, fish was perfectly cooked, and dessert was yummy. Service was excellent. Probably a little out of my price range on a normal night but during restaurant week it was well worth the money. Definitely worth a visit!
This was our first visit to Almond. We came for restaurant week. We were very impressed. Our server was friendly and attentive and the food was absolutely delicious. We will definitely return.
Everything was fine. There are much better options in the neighborhood. I would try a different restaurant before coming back.
The server was very simple, didn’t offer much detail or really any focus. Not rude but just came by and checked in for the basics - ready to order, how does everything taste, dessert? Not much personality. The manager however was WONDERFUL. He asked us to move tables (literally one table over) and comped our ENTIRE bill for 50% off. Truly amazed by his generosity. Couldn’t say thank you for him enough. Great ambiance, but we got a bunch of random dishes to share and a (few cocktails each) and sadly there was non cohesion. Totally our bad but everything still tasted great.
They had 2 parties going on, so the main dining area waited a VERY long time for dinner. They did offer a second round of drinks as compensation.
Food was great for the price per person will go agsin and agsin
Have been to Almond numerous times, both in NYC and the Hamptons. The food and service is always top notch.
Love, love, loved the Brussels sprouts salad 2 ways. Added 2 eggs over easy to plate and had a nice brunch! Friends had Veg fried rice & hues rancheros and were happy with their meals. I would definitely go back.
We had an excellent brunch here today even though open table was unaware that we were there. Unfortunately I have been unable to contact them to let them know that we honorer our 12:00 brunch reservation. The food $ ambiance were amazing at almond
We had dinner at Almond last night. We were most disappointed in two ways - the menu is very expensive - some items more offensive than others. The buffalo cauliflower at $16.75 is exorbitant for what it is. The second disappointment came with the main course. I ordered the Saturday special which was rack of lamb - the lamb was fine but it was on a bed of "crispy quinoa" which i now understand must be fried and was very, very oily. It really ruined the dish - the vegetables were immersed in it so it was difficult to even enjoy them. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience.
Food delicious, SErver Madelyn wonderful. It was a bit cold in the restaurant due to a front door problem earlier in the day but hopefully that will not be the case going forward.
Dined here last winter for restaurant week with friends and loved it and was eager to bring along my husband and another couple this time around. Several members of my party had specific dietary requirements (no gluten, no sugar, no dairy, etc.) and yet almost all of us were able to find appropriate choices on the restaurant week menu. The food was excellent yet again - I particularly enjoyed the short ribs with polenta that started my meal and the sticky toffee date cake that ended it. The only negative was the wait we had for a table despite the fact that we had a reservation - it seemed that everyone that arrived around the time we did (7:30 pm) had a reservation, too. The host did make a point of letting us know that our table would be ready soon and we appreciated that as standing with several parties with reservations awaiting tables tends to make me a bit anxious.
Date cake was DELICIOUS.
i always enjoy this restaurant. lovely food, great location, convivial atmosphere.
I arrived a half hour earlier then my reservation and was warmly greeted. I was immediately seated even though I was waiting for my friend to arrive before ordering dinner. I really appreciated that. The waitress was excellent and returned to our table just the right number of times to see if we needed anything. The meal was delicious, we both had the sword fish as our entrée and two different appetizers. We ordered 2 different desserts to share one of which we did not like (personal preference). The waitress noticed that the dessert was not eaten. We told her not to worry we loved the food just not this particular item. Before we knew it the manager came over and insisted we have an after dinner drink on the house and removed the item from the check. I was truly impressed not only with the food but with the excellent customer service. I will be back and have told my friends that they must try Almond's
This place is amazing! It truly is wonderful and the service is amazing. If you do go, ask for Maddy as your server, sh is phenomenal!
Almond is one of my favorite neighborhood standbys. It's reliable, everyone can find something they like and it's very homey.
Disappointing. You would think NYC restaurant week you would want to showcase some of your best dishes (albeit even if in small portions) and the appetizer showed promise. However, none of the three of us thought our main course worth a second trip - ever. Dessert was ordinary as well. I wish we had tried somewhere else. It was a Sunday evening but the place was minimally attended and then by families with children having hamburgers which says something as well.
We went on a Saturday night, full restaurant, but were seated right away with a reservation. The tables were appropriately spaced, along with accoustic tiles in the ceiling, enabed conversation without shouting. The food was great, along with the ambiance, recommend.
What a great find! A friend and I tried out Almond because of Restaurant Week and had a wonderful visit: comfortable atmosphere, excellent waitress, friendly staff, and delicious creative food.
Sever had several tables and only saw him a few times. Had to ask for a few things more than once. Food was lukewarm but quite tasty. Portions, though maybe good for for not overeating, we not remotely worth the price I paid.
We had a table. In the center of the room, which is lovely looking. Our waitperson kept interrupting our conversation to do her bit.
We ordered cocktails and then apps and dinners.
The apps were ridiculous.
Three small meatballs in the lamb dish were not enough for $17.
Another guest had the kale which was entirely too salty.
Two of us ordered the streak frites with their specialty fries.
We had to remind them that we were still waiting for our dinner.
When they came out the fries were heavy, greasy, and the cheese had cemented them together.
They may have sat in the kitchen for awhile.
But the best part was when the waitress come over to the table and said” if you could sign your bills, then I can go home.”
I don’t think in all my 50+ years I ever heard a service person say that.
How rude!!!!!!!!!!
We will never go back, there are too many other great places right here in the hood.
This was a great place for brunch with old friends. Great atmosphere and yummy food. My only complaint would be that the food wasn’t hot but it sure was delish! I’ll be back
Excellent as always. Geat, fresh food with interesting preparations. Thoughtful servers that dont rush you. Space to breath between tables snd hear the person you are with, not the table next to you.
I don't really eat out in the Flatiron district but found this fun and swanky restaurant on OpenTable. I met a friend for dinner. Not super crowded, nice bar scene (lots of guys for those ladies who believe there's no men in NYC to chat with - though I can't guarantee in this area of NYC it's not gay men. Either way, a nice place to meet people I'm sure).
The food was great, came out without long delays, tasty, and the waiter was delightful. I'd say it's a win win for drinks or dinner.
Wonderful business lunch. Loved our server and atmosphere.
Great menu, ambiance and service. Pork chop with kimchi on point (get sauce on the side).
Great food and service. Every time I go, it's a great experience overall. Be sure to order one of their Croques. They are DIVINE. Would go there JUST for that!
Service was very slow and grumpy, eggs were severely undercooked and coffee was burnt. This used to be my go-to but has gone downhill unfortunately.
sticky toffee date cake might be one of the best desserts in new york city.
Ambiance is good but the service was poor (Forgot an appetizer that was ordered), food was average at best and considering the quality, it was overpriced. Would not go back which is too bad because the energy and ambiance is great.
Always fabulous, not sure there is anything more to say! Weekly prix fixe menu is a great deal.
The hand mashed potatoes were amazing!! Actually everything was amazing! The cod dish, beet salad and date cake!!!!
Great ambiance! Menu had a lot of great options even for your pickiest eaters. Good service! Would definitely recommend for brunch but I am sure all meals are great!
Food used to be much better. Too noisy. Service slow.
Used to be one of my favorite local restaurants. Now disappointing.
When you eat here, you're paying for the space and service. Prices are almost as high as you'd pay at a place like Gramercy Tavern, but the food is just good - not exceptional. We really enjoyed some dishes, like the chicken, the kale side, and the toffee cake dessert. However, the cod was overcooked. Nothing was especially unique or original.
I'll go back if it's convenient to eat in the neighborhood, because I enjoyed the space, low noise level, and attentive (but not overwhelming) service.
