About Almond - Bridgehampton
In 2001 Jason Weiner and Eric Lemonides opened Almond Restaurant offering reasonable prices, bold bistro fare and friendly service. The French bistro quickly became one of the top spots in the Hamptons for locals, celebrities and tourists. Chef Jason Weiner quickly established himself in the Hamptons as top toque and over the years has established a very strong commitment to using locally farmed products and local produce in order to support the local community. Fast-forward 10 years and the iconic Hamptons French bistro enters a new era in a new location in downtown Bridgehampton. Almond’s new home is a historic space with 100-year-old tin ceilings, hand carved bar, classic white subway tile and a splash of color with signature zebra wallpaper, from an eponymous Italian restaurant in Manhattan, Gino, which recently ended its 65-year tenure. The menu is comprised of many French bistro favorites such as traditional escargot, steamed black mussels and steak frites.

The food was amazing like the first time we dined there. What really made it so special for us was how incredibly hospitable and kind the general manager was. We kept meeting people we know and he was so kind to wait for us to say hi to everyone before seating us. We don’t get to dine out very often but he made the night so enjoyable for us. Thank you to the rest of the staff for such a great dinner. We will certainly be back.
Perhaps it was because we were there during a holiday week, but the noise level was so high that we needed to lean across the table to yell into our guests ear in order to talk. NOT FUN!
Also, it seemed like additional tables had been squeezed in so space was very very tight.
3 out of our four dinners were delicious, as is typical at Almond, but one guest ordered the Mac & Cheese which was so dry and hard it needed to be sent back. They did take it off the bill but our guest only had his appetizer of onion soup for dinner.
Almond’s cuisine is imaginative and very well presented. Though no fish liver, I found the striped bass in an exceptionally light curry sauce on a bed of wheat berries and finely chopped vegetables to be totally delightful; the shrimp cocktail as an appetizer is one of the best around. There are many other fine choices, including the daily specials. The atmosphere is festive, if s little robust when a tableful of Millenials feels like celebrating. Yes
Were made to feel welcome from the time we got there. Wonderful, friendly, knowledgeable bartender when we arrived. Seated promptly. Owner introduced himself at our table. Our waitress Nadine was fabulous...helped a lot w/food choices and wine pairings. Food was creative and delicious! Had the cauliflower appetizer, carrot appetizer and lamb entree...all really fabulous and uniquely prepared. Delicious date cake dessert to die for! Wonderful evening was had by both my husband and myself :)
I have been to Almond several times. I knew they changed their Pre-fixe to weekdays for summer. I called and confirmed 2 times that Pre -fixe was also on Saturday night as well as what time. After asking 2 times on the phone if Saturday was included and told YES, I was advised when I sat that no it wasn't available. I am not a complainer but get your story straight - I called 2 times. I feel like I was lied to so we would come in.
Almond keeps upping their game! Many Hamptons restaurants keep the same old menu year after year, and it really gets mundane. Almond is always switching it up with local and seasonal menus, and it just keeps getting better year after year! Love the friendly atmosphere - buzzy yet welcoming.
Food was alright. We were told there were many vegetarian options by the owner and reviews online, but their was a very limited selection. The few dishes we did have were ok; however, our server was not one we'd recommend or in any capacity to recommend dishes. He did not know much about the menu, the ingredients, and kept reiterating 'to trust him' because, I believe, he didn't know the answer to our questions. When asked what ingredients are in a dish, he responded 'what do you mean?'. When asked if we could have the spaghetti without lobster, since we're vegetarians - he said it would be the same price... He was also very young and unprofessional, cursing unnecessarily and forgetting parts of our order. High price for poor services and mediocre food. Ambiance is nice though.
Shrimp Cocktail appetizer , shrimp was soft and mushy, not fresh, sent it back. Waitress had no personality, and wasn't friendly, service was very slow. Brought two other couples out because past experiences were favorable. This was Sept 23, after the maddening weekend crowd had somewhat subsided. Our group was very disappointed, especially after our hype. Hopefully this night was a fluke.
This is our second time dining here and it was just wonderful. We were able to sit outside and were warmly greeted by the host who was open, friendly, funny and attentive. The wait staff is outstanding with any server able to assist at any time. The menu offers a wonderful selection of dishes and we absolutely loved our meals. We had seafood to chicken to beef to dessert and there is only praise and appreciation for the quality and presentation of the ingredients. We did not wish to leave when our meal was done and ordered another round of lattes to extend our stay. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and I recommend this restaurant highly.
Went with my husband over Labor Day weekend and thoroughly enjoyed. Despite the busy weekend, the entire staff was extremely welcoming, friendly and accommodating. Great food, drinks and atmosphere. We'll definitely be back and excited to try their other location. Many thanks!
