   I was blown away with this restaurant. It started when I was walking down the street towards the restaurant and I could smell the wood in the oven. Its a beautiful and open dining and kitchen area. The food is large, pretty and DELICIOUS. It's marvelous and I highly recommend it.

   Almond and Oak is wonderful addition to the Oakland restaurant scene. Beautiful decor, delicious food, wonderful and friendly wait staff, yummy drinks with an awesome bar. I have been here twice and will definitely be back. You cannot go wrong with any occasion with this restaurant.

   Excellent food, lovely place. Too noisy, but that's everything these days, isn't it? Pity. Oh, and points off for dessert--no chocolate???

   It was quiet at 5:30pm for an early dinner. Salads and corn soup were excellent and generous. We had small plates (gnocchi with ragu and grilled asparagus with fried goat cheese) in place of mains. Excellent cocktails. Will definitely return.

   First time at the restaurant since the ownership and name changed. Am absolutely delighted to say that everything about Almond and Oak was superlative. Cocktails and food was inventive, extremely tasty and abundant. Service was top notch. Ambience was familiar with the good vibe that Penrose had.

   The new owner/chef Rico has a lovely menu of seasonal ingredients. The spring peas were a standout. Also recommend for happy hour with food and drink specials!

    Excellent pork chop plate, which we both had. One of our best meals there — which is already usually very good!
