The restaurant has a great atmosphere the food was excellent, the staff were very attentive, nothing was to much. The bar area gets very busy later in evening but the floor show is worth waiting for. Will back again.

I planned this weekend to Liverpool with friends from Kent over a year ago - as an ex-pat Scouser on missionary work in the 'south' I constantly sell Liverpool's many virtues which included the Alma De Cuba... Well not any more because no matter how fantastic the setting... steak 'n chips is well steak 'n chips. What's happened to the Cuban/Caribbean menu my partner and I had a couple of years ago which was a big part of the Cuban experience the venue is so good at creating? And great and interesting food! That said the service was faultless and the surroundings as fantastic as last time. But as a final note, just to make matters worse, our friends have just won the Kent restaurant of the year for the third time and were expecting a very different food experience ; oh well such is life.

I have been here three times now and each experience has been enjoyable. However, my last experience, Sunday the 28th was not quite what i had hoped. For example the restaurants menu for Sunday is Gospel Choir Brunch. We did arrive quite early at 12.15, but we didn't leave until 2.30 and there was still no choir? I was really looking forward to hearing the choir and my parents came up from Bristol for the weekend and they were excited to hear them as well. It was a shame they weren't playing for our meal as it suggests on the website and Menu title. I was also quite disappointed with my partners meal size. He ordered the shoulder of lamb which only came with fondant potato and a small portion of kale. It would have been helpful if the waitress advised him that the dish wasn't very big so that he could have ordered some side dishes.

This restaurant really has a WOW factor when you walk in. The decor is very unique. We found the staff to be smiling and helpful, there was a really good choice of food on the menu and it was nicely presented and vey tasty. It's not a cheap evening but we didn't feel it was overpriced as all the food was so good. There was live music playing for part of the evening which added to the atmosphere. If we go to Liverpool again I would definitely eat here and I have no hesitation in recommending it.

We booked a table prior to the date for Valentine's Day. On the late dinner time of 8pm's arrival, we were walked up to the top floor, past many free tables on the main floor. We were then seated disjointedly at a 4 seater table in the dark, up in 'the rafters'. The menu we were provided with was apalling. I acknowledge the use of seasonal/holiday menus but to be only provided with 4 options at a minimum of £110 is ridiculous. This is before bottles of wine or champagne. Money was no object for the evening, however, after 3 visits from the waitress and we still couldn't decide whether to opt for the cheese or pigeon dish.. Or surf & turf for a main, I am left utterly disappointed. So much so, we walked straight out & found a valentines menu elsewhere. Very disappointed.

Empty restaurant yet sat next to the door leading to the street should have asked to be moved it was freezing. Nice food but over zealous waiter who asked every 5 minutes if we had finished the course, even with cutlery in hand. Got a little monotonous telling him with food on the plate spoon in hand we hadn't finished. He even tried to take a plate whilst my partner was still eating at £55-00 a head too hurried wont be back. Out in an hour.

I went on Valentines's Day with my girlfriend for lunch - with the Gospel Choir singing in the background was absolutely outstanding. Great choir, great atmosphere, great venue, accompanied by good food and service - what more could you want!

Visited the Alma de Cuba following a review which must have either been written many years ago or by someone who actually has not visited the restaurant. The meaning of Alma de Cuba is "Soul of Cuba" so why call your restaurant this when it has absolutely no resemblance to either Cuban food or atmosphere. We were greeted by a young lady in a dull and dismal small foyer and taken straight upstairs to our table, unaware of the bar area downstairs where we would probably of had a drink before our meal, or in hindsight, taken the opportunity of making an exit before parting with our hard earned £80. So what did we get for £80, well 2 main courses (small portions it has to be said), one dessert and a couple of drinks plus two coffees. In fairness the food tasted OK although was more like a mix of French and Jamaican cuisine in both flavour and presentation. The lighting in the restaurant was dull, bordering on suicidal and probably because the restaurant and bar had patrons filling only around 5% of it's capacity, was totally lacking in any atmosphere - maybe that should have made us suspicious! The waiting staff however were pleasant enough, but I guess they were also affected by the surroundings which they worked in looking at their faces when they had little or nothing to do! To conclude, Liverpool is a great city and one we shall return to and would encourage others to visit as well. However given the variety, culture and choice in Liverpool I would suggest you look elsewhere to spend your money and enjoy the city and it's people. Viva Cuba!!!

Had a fantastic meal with my partner. Food was great and the atmosphere was even better. It was nice that the show dancers came round to the tables to say hello before the show started.
