   The service was poor. We had to ask where our starting drinks were and had to order our dessert twice then ask for a dessert spoon. The staff were standing around a lot and not clearing tables or filling up water glasses. There was a loud noise that seemed like an air conditioning unit that was noisy for quite a long time with no explanation to the patrons as to what was happening. You could hardly hear yourself speak. The food was quite good.

   Very nice High Tea for special occasion. Quite pricey so would only go there for special occasion. Staff were friendly and chatty, but not very attentive. Had to ask for drinks menu twice (first person obviously forgot.) Had to walk to other side of restaurant to order second drink as no staff were in the vicinity for some time.

   While the venue is beautiful, the service was absymal and all of us left starving. The portion sizes are small which a hefty price tag. Maybe wander into the intercontinental to have a look at the beautiful architecture but certainly don’t eat there.

   We loved our high tea at Alluvial. The food was delicious and plentiful. The staff were friendly and attentive and could not have been more helpful. We would love to experience Alluvial's high tea again!

   I knew something was up when we arrived and they asked “when did I make the reservation?” I made made the reservation a month ago. I was confused by the question bc it was evident they had plenty of tables available. Once seated they took our drink orders. But only delivered 2 of the 4 without an explanation. My husband had asked 2 different waitresses about the other drinks and was told “we will check”. Finally after 10 more mins of waiting, we were told they were out of the ingredients. Baffled, my son asked,”you don’t have vodka lime and cranberry juice?” Then his drink appeared! The same happened with our food. 2 meals were delivered to the table and it was mins later until the other 2 came out. We had to keep asking for more water and never was asked if we wanted another drink from the bar. The food was good. But the service really put a damper on the occasion. I would not go back to this restaurant.

   The overall experience was very disapointing, for xmas lunch i have better pub meals. The presentation was very poor for the money.

    We were there to celebrate Xmas and all tables around us have been waiting for an hour for anything - even appetizers. To have the gall of sending a reminder the day before prohibiting any cancellations when the manager failed to arrange enough employees, or assist the employees when they felt overwhelmed. I say felt overwhelmed not actually overwhelmed because there were actually around 1 staff every 3-4 tables and all clients were rather patient, and yet nothing worked. Tables were tiny and yet they decided to put big Christmas centrepiece that took up 1/5 of the table. Also, the space was echoey, The saving grace is that the food was passable - even the baked brie, which was bizarrely a dessert. Horrid experience and very much below the standards of what is expected of an intercontinental experience.
