   The food is exceptional but that fact alone cannot make up for extremely small portions at relatively high prices. We are accustomed to higher end restaurants and travel a great deal, especially in Europe where plates are much smaller than many U.S. restaurants. But this was on a level I have never seen, except perhaps on a tasting menu. To spend close to $300 for a shared appetizer, 2 pasta dishes, desert and a bottle of relatively modestly priced wine is not acceptable. There are too many great restaurants in NYC with better value to make this a go to restaurant. Also, we were celebrating an anniversary and had only asked for a nice table, having booked over a month in advance. We arrived relatively early at 7:00, with the restaurant 2/3 empty and were offered what I considered a not very nice table. I did appreciate that when I pointed out better available tables I was allowed to select my choice. It is rare that a high end restaurant will not make some small gesture for a celebration but none was made. In summary, the food and service are great if you don't mind spending a lot of money and leaving with the feeling that the portions were lacking in size.

   Service was exceptionally good. Atmosphere very good. Food was really good but not so good that it was worth the expense. The chicken dish we had was really flavorful. The linguine with white clam sauce also extremely good but a small portion. The beat salad also exceptional; but too large for even two people to share. Overall, more expensive than it is worth.

   Food was a delightful surprise combination of flavors for all dishes ordered. I felt like I was finally tasting food made on Top Chef instead of looking at it on TV and imagining it. Great value. Our waiter twice forgot to bring the drinks at the start but then woke up mid-meal and delivered fine service. It was my birthday and they gave me a lovely surprise dessert too!

   I've gone to All'onda a number of times with family members and friends. On each occasion, we've been treated with warmth and courtesy. The food has been delicious. The menu is interesting and the dishes are distinctive and very well prepared. We've been given good guidance on choosing wine and we've liked the selections. The service has been outstanding.    I don't know how this restaurant was recommended by the NY Times. Italian plus Japanese = confused and inedible food. The risotto looked like slop but slop would taste better. The worst meal I've had in NYC.

   service was terrible. we were never asked if we wanted dessert. we were told we had to relinquish our seats for another reservation. this is not waht dining is about.

   for the price point, I have to say that was one of the nicest meals I have had. prices are nothing like Daniel... but the food is better... It really is!! Perfectly cooked al dente pasta.. extraordinary sauce. a real treat.

   Service was poor. Our waitress was not friendly and not helpful. The sommelier dripped the wine on every pour - one of which ended up on my wife's sweater. The water boy spilt on every pour. The food, including the duck rigatoni, was flavorless. It was very expensive. There are many superior options for Italian in NYC.

    The server was good and food was fine, but waited 45 minutes after our 9:15p reserveration for a table. Hostesses, while nice, forgot about us, texting our phones with a reservation update when we were waiting at the bar nearby instead of coming to get us, even after we checked in twice. When complained about 45 minute wait, one hostess left to check and did not come back. Waited for another 10-15 minutes until found other hostess who showed us to table, but did not bring manager when requested. Neither hostess apologized for delay and said they couldn't do anything about it. Ultimately, restaurant provided a complimentary appetizer which was kind, but experience was marred by the delay and poor service by hostesses. Server was totally fine, however.
