We shared several small plates, and the dishes were all interesting and delicious, as well as beautiful. Our server was busy and a bit distracted -- so not always easy to get her attention -- but she was also friendly and knowledgeable.
Outstanding dinner at the bar Saturday night. Sophie took wonderful care of us with great cocktails and delicious creative food.
Good food, nice space, too limited a menu - rarely changes and no specials
Great family dining with outstanding food.
Great for dinner after a movie or theater; wonderful service.
Allium is a terrific restaurant. Modern and delicious food. Many small plates to choose from as well as full size entrees. The staff is excellent and after a few visits definitely knows you.
Hippest place in Great Barrington.
Consistently fine restaurant. Creative food, interesting cocktails.
Food was fantastic though the service a bit challenging. The place was busy, we got little attention and food took over an hour. They seemed understaffed.
The waitstaff and kitchen staff were amazing everything we sampled was just as good if not better than the last! Must haves include the Brussels sprouts and the sweetbreads
Although we did receive our appetizer, the staff "lost" our entree order. The waitress never checked with us to ask how our entrees were, because she would have seen we never received them. After about 40 minutes, she realized something was off, checked with the kitchen and was told they had made our order. What a fiasco!! When we finally got our food, which we were told was rushed through, it arrived barely warm. Although she offered to comp us for dessert, we just wanted to get out of there. This would never ever have happened in a well run restaurant. In NYC (where we live) they would be out of business in 5 minutes.
This was our first time at Allium but it will not be our last . We were stunned to find out it had been at its present location for 11 years. We had been by it many times but it is so unassuming as to go unnoticed by us. Had it not been for OpenTable we might still be unaware of its existence. The food was very good and the staff friendly. The food came out promptly but it did take a while to get a second glass of wine. I suspect they were more crowded than normal due to a sold out concert nearby.
Good food; great service; need to put POPCORN back on the Menu!
Loved our experience at Allium. Nice vibe, delicious cocktails and food was excellent. Definitely a nice find in the Berkshires. One of us is vegan and they were happy to accommodate and we know it is not easy, so thank you. Our two kids were with us and their pizza was delicious.
Totally worth it. Amazing tapas! Great cocktails! Keeping Railroad Ave amazing in GB!
This restaurant may just not have been my "cup-of-tea". It was lovely inside and the service was excellent. However, the menu was limited with only a couple of vegetarian options. The portions were small and the prices were not. This may be a better choice if one is just looking to have a drink and some nibbles. The desserts were excellent!
Service was wonderful. Chef must have had a bad day. Table next to us sent food back as did us.
Great food, excellent service.
Had a lovely meal on a cold Saturday night.
Service was terrific, loved the Brussels sprouts, burgers were good.
Initially we were turned off by the menu, but the excellent serving staff described perfectly the dishes and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal.
I've been going to Allium since it opened and like it a lot it's the only restaurant in Great Barrington that has a hip New York City vib rand good food to match.
Great service, nice restaurant. Loved the cocktails and personal service.
We always enjoy our visits to Allium. The menu changes and varies, and we have had several items that we'd never had (or heard of) before. For this dinner, we had roasted parsnips with goat milk farro, and , just like our waiter said, this was delicious. Great place to try and share dishes.
Food was great and there were very interesting dishes! Do wish there were a couple more items on the menu. Restaurant gets very loud during holiday season with families.
Excellent service from Amy. Very knowledgeable about the wines. Food was wonderful.
All good from service, food, reservation honored on time!
The food was very good, the portions were pretty small. The service was very very slow, though the waiters were very good.
Excellent food, skillfully prepared. Locally-sourced ingredients and it tastes it. Friendly service. One of Berkshires best.
Food simply wasn’t worth the price.
Fabulous dinner at allium! I was surprised at our total bill because we certainly didn’t skimp on our order! My mom and I shared five plates and a bottle of wine. We enjoyed every single bite, practically licking our plates clean!
My only critique to the restaurant team is that the staff seemed a little overwhelmed. We had to flag down servers a few times. Everyone was wonderful, but they just seemed like they had a lot on their plates (no pun intended!)
I brought some friends to Allium for dinner. We had olives and the beet salad as appetizers, which were delicious. For dinner, two friends had the burger; I had the chickpea panisse and our fourth had the delicata squash - every bite was wonderful. We all agreed that Allium is an outstanding dinner experience.
For some years Allium has been one of the Berkshire's outstanding restaurants. Cozy, comfortable, with a good wine list and an always-interesting menu, it is well worth frequent visits. The menu is very creative but not fussy, very interesting but not pretentious, and delivers delicious tastes that will please even a picky eater. We've never been disappointed in numerous dinners, and always look forward to our next meal there. The service is excellent, too. I recommend sitting in the bar area, which is prettier and livelier and cozier than the slightly austere separate dining room. One of our favorite restaurants in the area, a pleasure to visit.
Only OK. Waiter knew we had theater tickets but waited over an hour for food to arrive. Sat down at 6:15. Waiter was nice enough but we think he forgot to put in our order. Only went there because I️ could get a reservation through Open Table.
Food was awesome and our waiter was great! We had almost one of everything on the menu and it was all delicious!! Definitely will go back.
they changed the menu. Totally awful. Also, there was nobody there. Last year it was hottest restaurant in town. Changed chefs, terrible now.
As a person with food allergies I was very happy to have many options! The waitress was extremely knowledgeable and comfortably friendly, the chef was very accommodating with my requests. The food was creatively excellent! The staff were excellent! Parking was tricky, but it was Saturday night at the prime dining hour. Overall, I highly recommend!
We were in town for a wedding and saw this place on trip advisor. One of the best meals we had in a long time. Service was good, prices were a little high but the food was tasty. We would recommend and go back when in the area. My wife is gluetin free and she loved the meal.
With an 8:30 pm reservation seated soon after we were hungry and shared that
with the waitress who forgot to place our entrée order in. She admitted to that
stating because we wanted to eat asap she didn't put the order in as she normally does.
Unbelievable. Our waitress talked to another table for a lengthy period of time.
On checking we were told our order is next again & again. Finally told the truth.
The entire meal should have been comped. Doubt if we would return to pay
for such poor service and I don't care feeling. Friends came from Albany and we
from New Lebanon - not around the corner.
Comp a meal and we'll try you again. Someone should be watching service going
from table to table to assist.
First time there, pleasantly surprised. Birthday dinner for one of the kids. Nice decor, great service and very interesting menu, that included some things we had never seen on menu before like smoked potatoes and crispy felafel beans. Did I mention great service? both server and busser were amazing!
This was our second meal at Allium. We had a family meal with our adult son and found the service excellent and the food delicious. We could talk and eat with just the right level of attention from staff - always helpful and present, but not hovering. After appetizers, we had the steak, chicken and a combination of two small plates. Especially recommended: the chickpea nibbles appetizer, the kale salad. Good desserts too.
Nice upscale restaurant. Had a little wait despite reservation. Service was very attentive.
Food was good.
