About this restaurant

  • Innovative
  • Good for special occasions
  • Romantic
Allium restaurant overlooks one of the city’s widest promenades, North Parade. It was originally built to let the fashionable people of Regency Bath show off to the good and the great. Today, it’s still ideal for people-watching and lends itself beautifully to a sunny summer terrace for al fresco dining.
Relaxed and unstuffy, the only thing Allium is serious about is great food, wonderful wines and genuinely warm hospitality.
This classic menu with a modern twist has delighted guests and the nation's leading food critics alike, with The Observer’s Jay Rayner praising it for being “worth the visit to Bath” alone.

Great food and service. However, the restaurant is in a transition and the menus could be more imaginative. The toilets were messy and dirty and clearly were not being inspected and cleaned sufficiently often.

Absolutely exquisite food in a tranquil setting. We were impressed by the fresh ingredients, vivid colors, and imaginative presentation. Our two course meal for two with wine was 57 GBP so it was a super value as well. Highly recommend.

Food not as good as it appeared on the website. Service slow. However staff are very friendly and they have a separate menu for people who have food allergies/eating disorders.

We had a wonderful time. Great for catching up. The staff were attentive and friendly. The hotel is superbly located with an exciting collection of art. We were very happy with the choice of food on the menu. It was a wonderful evening. The bar staff even helped us charge our phones later on in the evening. Well worth a visit!

Hadn’t realised that Allium had changed hands and lost, it’s very wonderful, Michelin starred chef, Chris Staines a few months ago. That does explain the slightly below par food and slower service. Such a shame as we have always enjoyed fabulous dining experiences there in the past. We waited 20 minutes in the bar for our drinks order to arrive - it wasn't overly busy, although I appreciate the bar was dealing with outside guests & restaurant drinks orders - but that's a regular Saturday night in Bath. Not mad on the new restaurant decor and furniture - looks a bit down market from what was there before - disappointing.

special occasion really quite disappointing. Set menu small portions as always but quality of starter and dessert particularly poor. Style over substance Moreover restaurant informed of a 21st birthday on booking, over phone and also the waitress asked if we were out for any special reason ... so the least that the restaurant could have done was put a candle in her dessert. Service quite ad hoc. Gluten free options poor. Unable to explain why cheese wax not a gf option.
