Great space, good staff, food is mediocre at best, overpriced. Salmon was overcooked and served cold. Risotto was not risotto, kind of a rice mush.

Our first time eating at Alley & Vine. First off, my husband wanted me to mention how much he loved the background music -- relaxing and a good mix of songs that we all enjoyed. Now for the food . . . the Taste of A&V White Sturgeon Caviar as the perfect bite to introduce my 19-year-old grandson to caviar -- slightly salty and slightly briny -- just the way caviar should taste. Needless to say, my grandson and I loved it. For our second course, we had the Phyllo-Wrapped 'Locarno' Brie, Mixed Baby Greens, and Nori Crusted Tombo Tuna. The idea of smearing the side of the salad plate with the goat cheese was a brilliant idea so that the diner could wipe each bite with the cheese before eating. The Tombo tuna was very fresh, very Japanese. I wish I could be more descriptive with the Brie, but my grandson, after giving him some instruction on how to load up the endive, said it was very good. Our third course consisted of the Local King Salmon, Yellow Corn Chowder, and Wild Nettle Risotto. The salmon, while my husband ordered that it be cooked "medium", was received "well-done"; it however was not over cooked and still very much enjoyable. The quinoa was very full flavored. The aleppo peppers really came through in the Corn Chowder, but did not overpower the sweetness of the corn. As far as the Wild Nettle Risotto? I have rarely enjoyed a dish of risotto as much as I did last night. The flavors of the vegetables were perfectly balanced, and very fresh. Lastly, the three of us shared a Strawberry Shortcake and Butterscotch Pudding. The strawberry shortcake was served on a drop biscuit, just the way strawberry shortcake should be served. The lemon whipped cream really brought the dessert up to the next level. The Butterscotch Pudding was very delicate, but could have been a bit more flavorful and smoother as I thought the pudding a little grainy. Alley & Vine does a marvelous job of California Cuisine and at appropriate prices.

Excellent service and ambiance. The flavors were delicious but had texture consistency issues (eg. Popcorn in a smooth corn chowder? Tender beef coupled with dry stringy pork in a Bolognese) That shouldn't occur in a $120 check for two dinners.

We absolutely love alley and vine. This was our third time back and we always have such an amazing experience. From the kind staff to the phenomenal well thought out cuisine. It’s evident that the owner and management have a genuine interest to make sure you leave extremely satisfied. Jorsen was one of the waiters we had and he made my daughter feel extra special by offering her some oyster shells. He always remembers us and says hi. Really can’t recommend this place enough. Every bite is so memorable!!!

We previously had a great experience at Alley and Vine, but were not pleased with our experience on Mother’s Day. We waited for about an hour after ordering to get our appetizers (which led to very fussy kids). The kitchen ran out of potatoes while we were waiting for our entrees and they initially replaced the potatoes with salad without informing the table. They fixed it and sent out an order of potatoes after we mentioned it to our server. Our poached eggs were cooked hard in our eggs Benedict, so the kitchen also had to replace those. Overall they seemed to struggle with this set menu. The kids set menu option was confusing - it was $25 and included 1) greens and balsamic dressing 2) a very small slice of French toast and 3) ice cream which all didn’t seem to be a good value for a set brunch. In contrast the French toast was also on the adult menu and included fruit and other toppings. It may have been a better idea for them to just scale this portion down for the kids option. As it was, this was even too small for our five year old. We’ve enjoyed dining here in the past and may be back for their regular menu, but we’re unimpressed by this set option.

We have enjoyed this place a couple of times. The menu changes often and we haven't had a dish we don't like so far. Portion sizes are huge, but reasonable. I'm not upset about wanting a little more of something delicious. Quick and thoughtful service and the drinks are tasty.

Overall, the experience was lovely. The food was interesting, good quality and nice ingredients. Server was very good, informative and made good suggestions. We have 2 comments however: the meals came out lukewarm, should have been hot. And the pork chop was well done, which made it a little tough - we weren't asked how well to cook it. For the prices charged, these issues need to be addressed.

Cocktails and appetizers were wonderful but very small portions. Friendly waiter, but main course took almost an hour to arrive. Rather than trying to make up for the delay, we were ignored. They ran out of something and those things happen, but when you're paying $100/person, it's not okay.

What a lovely spring supper. We sprang for the house made caviar - creamy and divine. One of us had the soup and the other the green and strawberry salad. Both were incredibly well executed, the soup as smooth as velvet and the salad dressed to perfection. Our mains were the beef short ribs and the sole. Each of us was delighted with our choice. We rounded out with two delightfully fun specialty cocktails and a beer and a glass of wine. There was not a single item that seemed off or lacking. Our server, Andrew, was just present enough, but we never felt interrupted or rushed. The price is on the high end, but in this case it felt well worth it. Well done, Alley&Vine.

I was pretty disappointed by my experience at Alley & Vine. I'd had my eye on it for a while and was looking forward to eating here, so I was really excited to come for their Easter brunch. The host was nice and the desserts were great, but everything else was really lacking. The avocado toast was fine except for the trout roe—I'm usually a fan, but my group all thought there was so much on the toast that it was overpowering. The springtime hash looked pretty, but tasted bland. The shrimp and grits didn't taste like much of anything. And although the eggs were poached well, the grits were so liquidy that the runny egg yolks turned them into a flavorless soup. The other issue I had with my visit was the service. Overall, the experience was just confusing. It took about 10 minutes for someone to check if anyone had asked us about water yet, and at least another 10 before someone else came by to take our orders. No one introduced themselves to us as our server, and we kept getting the sense that we had been forgotten about but didn't know who or where our server was. Later on, our server asked us if we wanted boxes for our entrees, which none of us finished; when we said no (having previously mentioned that we weren't enjoying our food), I was surprised that he didn't even check in about whether everything was okay and instead just cleared our table without a word. Our server was barely present and didn't notice for long periods of time when we were no longer eating, even after the dining area had emptied out quite a bit. Our reservation said our table time was limited to 1.5 hours, but somehow we ended up being there for over 2 hours, even though we finished eating quickly. I myself am industry and totally understand that holidays can be hectic, food can take a long time to come out, etc, so I'm rarely bothered by long waits or mistakes. But this time, I was disappointed. The food already wasn't worth it... but the service I'd get written up for.
