Food took over an 1 hour and 30 minutes after ordering entrees but the food was great when it did come.
Great for boyfriend’s birthday
LOVED our waiter Mossimo. He was incredible! Made the night. So kind, knowledgeable, friendly attentive and charming. He definitely made our experience what it was. Would come back for sure! Enjoyed the ambiance as well.
Food was marginal, good service , friendly people but I and my wife were not impressed with the food
Their pasta is amazing. We got four different kinds and they were all delicious!! Portions are a little small for some plates, but nonetheless you won't regret coming here
The duck pappardelle was one of the worst pastas I’ve ever had. The sauce tasted like a 50 cent cab of tomato sauce- zero salt. Very disappointing.
Fig and walnut ravioli was amazing.
I love their outdoor dining setup!! Lovely place.
Both the food and service were outstanding! Try the pork chop for sure! Loved the wait staff! Very courteous, friendly and on top of things, especially our waitress and Fabio.
Sat in the bar area, the bartender was our server so he was pretty busy. Asked for our salad ahead of time but he ordered it the same time as our entrees which was annoying and made us feel rushed. The salmon was barely room temp and the shrimp he must’ve been an employee or a partner there. The server took the fettuccine off the bill but an apology from a manager or something other than “I gotchu” would’ve been more appropriate. Very disappointing experience, definitely will not be back.
Food was okay not very good but the place was very clean and pretty.
Took a very long time after being seated to get a server, and the street-side seating on the Cedar St side loses pretty much all of the energy and ambiance of the actual restaurant. Bread was a little stale, but gnocchi was good. Nothing terrible about the experience but there are a dozen better places within a block or two. I expect the experience/service would have been better if sitting inside or closer to the restaurant.
We sat in one of the auxiliary sections that they added post pandemic. The food was good but the service was extremely slow. It took them 40 minutes to get our drinks to our table. I think they expanded far beyond their service capacity.
It's a cute and fun place. Lots of energy and people, they were very busy. Sometimes it took awhile for the server to come back around, but overall good service for how busy they were. The food was good, but I wasn't blown away. I would recommend taking a group here as the menu is good for sharing plates, and they seem to set up for having big groups.
Wonderful service and great food!
They sat us in a cramped corner by the bathroom which was strange since we had a reservation and we had to wait 10 minutes for a table that wasn’t even set yet. Service was outstanding, we were never rushed and our server helped the meal to flow perfectly. Food was excellent but the parmesan wheel is not available on the weekends which was what drew us to this restaurant in the first place, wish they would put that on their online menu at least.
Lots of choices in Little Italy for Italian food. Allegro's strength is clearly meat and possibly fish; it's definitely not pasta. Very crowded and loud, particularly if seated outside on India St. Not a favorite, but worth a try.
Super friendly staff! Expert knowledge and welcoming vibe. Very classy vibes. It’s the perfect place to have a nice dinner with good friends! Our waiter, Baran, was excellent, he helped us pick appetizers and our entree that were incredible. Allegro’s house sommelier even helped us pair the perfect wine, which was an amazing touch. Nothing but great things to say about our experience at Allegro’s. We’ll definitely be going back!!
Crab pasta made me sick. 2+ hour wait for being “next” in line
Max our waiter was great
We did the pasta in the cheese wheel. I never not want pasta in a cheese wheel now haha. It was very delicious and so were the drinks
Our server ignored us the whole night. If it wasn't for Colton, our great food runner that attended to us, we would have left. The food is not authentic, but not horrible. More focused on the aesthetics and ignoring their guests.
I specifically selected outdoor sitting but when I got there, they did not have outdoor sitting so we were seated in the patio. Also, I put "birthday" to occasion but it seems like no one really checks that. These are the only 2 things that bothered me visiting here. However, food and vibe are really nice.
Was rushed and just horrible experience for our special anniversary will not be back.
The food and drink were great and also loved the decor and atmosphere. We will definitely be back.
Enjoyable, the waitress could have been a little more attentive. She did not check back after the food was delivered by another to see if we needed anything, which we did.
I have never sent food back, but we were forced to last night! The place was extremely busy and they were struggling to keep up, The fig ravioli tasted like oatmeal and the duck Ragu sadly tasted like
Pasta in hot tomato sauce with absolutely no flavor. The restaurant was very apologetic and didn’t charge us for the food, but I don’t think I will ever return there.
I was really looking forward to this dinner and so excited to try Allegeo, but the entire experience left me completely underwhelmed.
We made a 7:30 reservation and weren’t sat until closer to 8 in a less than stellar position. It took our server awhile to greet us (think 10 + minutes) and that basically set the tone for the whole night. A dinner that should’ve taken a hour tops ended up being closer to 2 hrs because we were basically neglected the entire meal. The service was mediocre and the servers couldn’t even keep their masks above their noses. I’m vaccinated so I didn’t make a big deal about it, but it is something I noticed in multiple servers and buzzers walking around.
Little Italy has some of the beat food in San Diego and this place just wasn’t good. We had 3 different appetizers that were just bland. Dinner was also equally disappointing. My friend ordered a steak and it was just thrown on top of French fries with the sauce drizzled over the top. They also didn’t have a steak knife in the entire restaurant so my friend had to use a butter knife. My carbonara just wasn’t good. My boyfriend does a better job at home with boxed pasta.
The drinks were incredible, but they don’t make the rest of the experience any better. Save your money and pick a better Italian restaurant in Little Italy.
We were running a little late on a Friday night and they were great about holding our table. This was greatly appreciated bcuz Little Italy was extremely busy. Staff was very nice and food was good.
Great food and service. Can be a little hectic eating outside in the hustle and bustle of little Italy, bud otherwise love it!
Some food items were very good. Baratta tomato salad. Buccacini was excellent. But seating was mediocre, service erratic, wrong items brought to table, risotto was cold. Overall try some other excellent Italian restaurants in Little Italy.
We were sitting WAY to close to the people on either side of us. Did not feel comfortable from a COVID standpoint.
We made a reservation for indoors and got seated outdoors. When I asked the hostess how long of a wait it would be for an indoor table, she said “A while. You’ll be more comfortable out here.”
A little noisy they satisfy a gate that contain there propane tanks for their eaters and it was disturbing. But we realize because of the pandemic they are offering street side service and things like that are to be expected. The manager apologized came to speak with us.
We told her that we recommended taking the table out that we were sitting at. We would go back the food was very good and our waiter was fantastic!
Celebrated my birthday in the lemon room and loved every minute of it. This restaurant is so cute and trendy but the food is also delicious! Highly recommend the gnocchi and the zucchini blossoms.
Standard menu is overpriced, but great restaurant week options and value!
Amazing restaurant for first date, vacationing or just local pride. Food was delicious and the zucchini blossoms were out of this world. I would go again. Great location.
There were 3 of us for dinner. We got there early and had wine in the bar area with appetizers. The calamari was good and our friend liked her shrimp ceviche. Service was poor to average as judged by:
I was brought a second pour of wine although I had not asked for one. I accepted it then inadvertently left it at the table when seated for dinner, no attempt was made to find me.
Our corkage fee was charged for simply removing the cork from the bottle and replacing it partly back into the bottle and setting it on the table. We poured our own.
Our water glasses were never refilled.
Our friend ordered double vegetables with her entree instead of potatoes, she received potatoes.
Same friend ordered the pistachio mousse, she received a cannoli. She returned both plates for correcting.
As for the food: I was happy with my sea bass dinner. Our friend was happy with her venison dinner. My husband ordered the lamb. For $52 he received two very fatty lamb chops (not rack of lamb). He was not happy.
Dessert was fine: limoncello cake and the pistachio mousse were both very good.
We all felt there is no rush to return to Allegro.
Great ambiance! Service was amazing
This is a new restaurant but the menu needs a LOT of work. Items on the menu were not accurate and the portion sizes were inconsistent. Two of us ordered the 10 oz. steak but they were completely different sizes. The zucchini spirals were listed as having ricotta but instead had mozzarella. Those were $17 for 4, and each one was a different size. We basically paid $17 for 4 mozzarella sticks. We also got the bone marrow bruschetta. It came with 4 small slices of stale bread, and the pics online did not look like what we got. The pics online have tomatoes and what a typical "bruschetta" would look like on top of the bone marrow, but none of that was on what we got. Now for the worst part.. dessert. We ordered limoncello cheesecake and a "deconstructed cannoli". What we got was a regular cannoli (had a weird grainy texture) and a piece of regular cake. There may have been a lemon-flavored filling, but it was not cheesecake. It was white cake with lemon frosting and a few raspberries on top.
They did remove the charge for one of the meals, but we still spent almost $300 for 4 people. The cost of the food was not worth it. The only good thing we ordered was the wine. The steak also came with truffle fries and those were pretty good. I would've rather just ordered a plate of fries and wine.
