Allegro Restaurant at The Westin Melbourne

Perfect venue, brilliant service and the high cheese was something i will be telling friends about for a long time!

We attended the “High Cheese” event at Allegro. The food was more than ample and impeccably prepared. It was a cheese event we will not forget in a hurry. Exquisite service from brilliant staff. Thank you for the opportunity.
A great space, tables were not really close together. Service was excellent. We had the High Cheese Tea, and everything served was of high quality, beautifully presented and delicious.
We had the High Cheese experience. Same as a high tea but with cheese dishes, savoury and sweet. It was wonderful! The staff were professional and friendly. Enjoyed the experience very much.

From the moment we entered the restaurant we were made to feel at ease. The staff were attentive but not over bearing. The food was amazing and we didn't feel at all rushed.
We went to Allegro for High Cheese and had a fabulous experience. The food (cheese) was amazing and the service was discrete but available when wanted.
I felt the selection of food was better than last year however the baked Camembert was not as good as last year. Last year it was creamy and delicious and this year there was no bread and the cheese was a very sharp and over powering. Everything else was nice and the desserts were delicious. The teas were very good also.
Went for the High Cheese event, the food was delicious and plentiful. However the service was a real let down. There was scant attention paid to us by the wait staff, with the result that we constantly had to flag people down to order more drinks/have our drinks topped up. If you’re not going to leave the wine on the table you need to be much faster with the pouring.
Food was ok. No need to return. Found it surprising that in 2019 Melbourne food culture this dining experience did not cater for dietary requirements. Nor did they have available the whole wine list.
Then to push membership on paying!
Very disappointed with the surroundings, service and food. We got the feeling that the restaurant was run down and lacked any atmosphere at all. Nothing special about this place at all. Sad and boring.
Surprised at the description online, must be very out of date or the person had not actually been there. Would not recommend to anyone. This restaurant needs to be updated and get with the times. Too many fabulous restaurants in Melbourne for this one to be so bad.
Seafood high tea was ok, but advertised oysters on menu but absent from the selection. Staff were not warm and didn't make much eye contact so hard to get drinks or service. At time of booking was asked if it was a special occasion, which it was, and they kindly mentioned they would organise something special for my friend but nothing eventuated and was awkward to ask in front of my friend so didn't. A pretty disappointing experience.
Very poor arrival greeting, poor service the entire evening. Food was okay, some great dishes and some poor dishes in the HighSeas. Overall a very average night for the four of us.
A really lovely place for a pre-theatre dinner. Service was warm and attentive, and the food was delicious.
We chose the pre-theatre two course meal, which was prompt, exactly the right amount of food and quite enjoyable. It was also an excellent price, especially as the quality of the food was so high.
Will absolutely return when seeing another show at the Regent Theatre.
My friends and I enjoyed the pre theatre menu. The food was superb especially the dessert. The restaurant is a quiet oasis. Service first class
The new fish of the day is a while stuffed baby barramundi. Absolutely delicious. The flesh was perfectly cooked, moist, flavoursome, perfectly seasoned, and did not have the muddy flavour that barramundi sometimes has.
The chips were also deliciously crispy and must have been double or triple fried. Very moreish.
I would have given a perfect score if it wasn't for my t-bone steak, which was a bit overcooked and tough. It still had good flavour though.
The lavender ice cream is just gorgeous. I could eat a whole bucket of it.
The bar also does an excellent aperol spritz.
Excellent early dinner before going to the show. They had their Valentines Day Promotional dinner. Great food and they were accommodating to all our requests. Definitely dine there again.

Food was very good, but the service was slow and staff didn't pay attention to customers much.
My wife and I had come from Sydney for a special occasion with son and daughter-in-law. Excellent food, imaginative but harmonious and not over elaborate; attentive but not intrusive service; wine list more than adequate but not overwhelming. Memorable occasion.
We had "high cheese" here and it was very nice. There was only one cheese selection that was a little unpalatable - perhaps the strawberry did something to the cheese? Otherwise a very delicious selection. Others in our party ordered the meal and it was deemed adequate, perhaps a little small for the price.
Food was excellent but service was very very slow, surprising given there were only 7 couples dining at same time

Wow what a an experience. Came here for my birthday. We indulged in High Cheese. The amount of food does not look like it's sufficient but neither one of us could finish our share. It was delectable. As for all the wait staff particularly Kodi whose service was outstanding thank you for excellent service and attention to detail. High Cheese is a must!
We had the High Cheese. I can’t recommend this highly enough if you’re a cheese lover. Mmmmm.
The rockling with clams, mussels, pippis, and roasted fennel in a fish bouillabaisse was particularly good tonight. The clams were big and meaty, the mussels perfectly cooked as usual and a very generous piece of rockling tonight. The dish was really flavoursome, fresh, healthy, and perfectly seasoned. My vegan dining companion was very happy with her cauliflower steak too.

Always love eating at Allegro. The service is great and I love their modern Australian menu. Especially the pan fried fish fillet with pippis, clams, and mussels. The 450g rib-eye is also always reliably good.
The lobby lounge is also great for a quiet drink.
Cheese overload. Food OK but far too much cheese and nothing to cut the cheese flavour with. Would have loved some fresh or dried fruit to eat with the cheese.
It was such a lovely afternoon out. The staff were delightful, the food delicious. I would recommend this high cheese to all cheese lovers
We had High Cheese at Allegro Restaurant and it was to die for. Very impressed at the quality of the food and the service.
Enjoyed our High Cheese! it was such a special occasion. Loved the freshness of the food and the quality of the cheese. Staff, whole very personable and highly trained, could have been a little more attentive.
My partner and I really enjoyed the evening. Our High Chese was very well presented and delicious. Our only suggestion would be to offer a sorbet or perhaps some fruit to cleanse the pallet midway through.
The atmosphere was dead and sterile with lights up and no character at all. The high cheese was the biggest disappointment. Cold and dry scones, stale chouix pastry, cold Brie, baked Camembert not hot, that’s as far as we got before deciding to leave. To charge $70 per person for what was presented to us is laughable and pretty embarrassing. I was especially disappointed as I had planned this as a special evening for me and my girlfriend before I leave the country for 6 months.
We booked for a pre-concert dinner and were delighted at the quality of the food and the polite and attentive service we received. The restaurant is spacious and quiet and we completed our meal in plenty of time to attend our performance at the Athenaeum. It really is excellent value and we were surprised so few other concert-goers were in attendance.
We definitely will be back.
We both absolutely loved our meal, we had the 2 course pre theatre menu.
The staff, the atmosphere and food made us agree this will be the first of many meals we plan to enjoy here.
Staff were magnificent
The 450g rib-eye steak steak was beautifully charred and caramelised and the meat was tender, pink, juicy, and full of flavour. Especially when eaten together with the deliciously sweet jus it was served with. The accompanying bone marrow croquet was a scrumptious deep fried crunchy ball filled with rich, golden, velvety goodness.
The white chocolate brownie bar with berry sorbet is perfect. Order it! A perfectly balanced rich, sweet, tart, satisfyingly dense, cakey, and crispy desert.
