Allegheny Grille Ratings and Reviews
The meal we had was excellent, Eggplant parmesan, grilled chicken covered with ham and a cheese sauce with awesome creamy real mashed potatoes and vegetable. I had a hot bacon dressing for my salad and it was unique and delicious. The muscles appetizer is enough to share or be a meal with an added salad. The menu has changed and it was definitely difficult to decide what to eat. Good beer and wine list. Will be back soon and again when we can eat outside on the deck. Great destination place for a day trip to eat and enjoy the area and scenery.
We were very pleased with the visit we love the restaurant except this time visiting the only complaint was the restaurant was not busy at all open tables everywhere but for some reason the table right beside us there were people placed to sit there on top of us practically we could not even here ourselves all were heard was there conv. The whole time loud they leave we are having dessert the same table was not cleaned off n new people were seated right there again . Did not enjoy that at all no personal space
Had a enjoyable experience on New Years eve, reservations were easily made through the Open Table app. Table was ready when we arrived, hostess was very pleasant. Table service was really good for the number of customers being served. Food was good, and pricing was affordable. We will be back soon.
What a find!!
We are from DuBois and were looking for a scenic place to entertain relatives from California;we just lucked on Alleheny Grille.
We were all delighted by the great view, wide menu, outstanding service, amazing food and such a varied dessert selection.
The moderate cost was a bonus!!
We have already told several friends and we will definitely be back!
The food and selection has gone downhill. The food just isn't what it used to be and the menu has gotten so much smaller. My family has been coming here for years because of the beautiful view of the river. Our server was very attentive and funny. Took great care of us. There were dead flies, dust and cobwebs around the heating/cooling vents which was kind of gross. Overall other than the server and view, I was less than impressed and I drove from Buffalo to be there.
I was very disappointed in my meal. Normally the food is quite good. I ordered the large prime rib, medium-rare, and the first thing the waitress said was that she didn't know if they could make it that way, it would probably be medium. Really, they can't cook a piece of meat medium rare. Then the meal came, and it had so much fat it was hard to cut. It didn't even look like a prime rib - it looked gray. What an over-priced, unappealing meal.
The food was good, the Marsala was very bland and tasteless. Very nice restraint but some of the worst service we have ever encountered. We sat by door leading to the patio and servers were constantly in and out, the tempature inside the restraunt was unbearable at times.
The host and server were unwilling to accommodate our seating requests. First, we had requested to be seated outside, as specified in our reservation. The host told us that she didn't see that specification when reserving us a table, so we couldn't sit outside. Then, she sat us at a table by the door the waitstaff walks in and out of to get to the kitchen. When we requested to be moved to the empty table next to us, the server told us that the table was reserved for another party. But, after finishing our meal, the table next to us still remained empty.
We would have been understanding of their inability to meet our seating requests, had they given us clear reasons why they could not have been fulfilled. But, the staff simply seemed moody and unwilling to accommodate us for no apparent reason whatsoever.
The Allegheny Grille is a little bit off the beaten track but I wanted to have a nice lunch with a friend where I didn't have to hear crying/screaming children and/or watch other people put food in their mouths while trying to text. I have no idea if the Allegheny Grille is part of the bar scene or not but I wanted a well made drink, some good food, and a chance to catch up with a friend. The only distraction I wanted was a scenic view of the river and the Allegheny Grille filled that list quite well.
I'm willing to pay the somewhat higher price/small portion if it limits the noise of children or adults who no longer can appreciate the dining experience. I certainly will look forward to returning in 2-3 months to see the coming of Fall along the river and enjoying a good meal in very pleasant surroundings.
This is the second time I have gone to Allegheny Grille specifically to order the pot roast (which I have had before and it is good) and they said it wasn't available. Why keep it on the menu if it isn't always available? I decided to try the chicken marsala which was mediocre at best. It looked more like gravy than marsala wine sauce. The chicken was not tenderized and one piece was dry. My husband ordered seafood pasta that was drowned in alfredo sauce. He said the shrimp was the only seafood he could identify. It's too bad; I really want to like this place because of the scenic setting, but everytime we go there someone doesn't like their food. Not to mention the tables always feel sticky and they need to buy better wine glasses. If I go back, I will choose from the sandwiches or appetizers. The mussels are very good.
