A treat to vist for the first time.
My best friend recommended it.
Will be a regular!
Left feeling it had been superb!
Food, service and atmosphere
Great restaurant with very creative menu. I loved the braised octopus with squid ink. Save room for desserts!
Beautiful quiet setting, exquisite cuisine, fabulous service!
All Spice is a rare one of a kind dining destination. The food is superb and unlike anywhere else as the chef is so creative. We love going there especially when celebrating special occasions.
Great food. Accommodating staff. Delightful ambiance.
Maybe the best meal I've ever had. Adorable setting, incredible food. Absolutely perfect.
Everything was perfect, as usual. I would also recommend opening up drapes at lunchtime to give it a bit more 'daytime'
Great ambiance and service. Food was excellent with wonderful presentation. Only drawback was the cost or value of the dinner. Mostly a special occasion kind of restaurant.
We enjoyed the tasting menu with wine pairing. It was worth every penny. The chef offers unique culinary experience. What an amazing experience.
Wonderful little restaurant in a Victorian house on an unlikely strip of El Camino. The cuisine is creative but not over-the-top. Rich and subtle flavors, lovely execution and presentation. We had a cod and salmon dish, and they were delectable -- the best cod and salmon dishes we have ever had. Not cheap, but a bargain compared to restaurants of similar quality, such as Gary Denko and French Laundry. Well worth it.
This is our second time visiting All Spice and my wife and I are always drawn to the tasting menu. So far they are two for two. We have yet to try something that we didn't think was amazing.
The ambience is beautiful. The service is always impeccable. The food is artistically and beautifully presented. The serving sizes are very small, and the prices are excessively high. It averaged out to about $125 per person with only one bottle of wine. The actual quality of the food prepared did not measure up to the prices For several of the items chosen.
One of the best restaurants on the peninsula - perhaps THE best. Every item on the menu is meticulously thought out and prepared. I’ve never had more unique and pleasing flavor surprises in a meal. To me, All Spice compares favorably to French Laundry, but is even more creative in its use of ingredients - plus the prices are reasonable and you can usually get a reservation only a day or two ahead of time.
The fixed menu changes just frequently enough that you can go regularly and find something new to try every time. The tasting menu is an exceptional treat if you are up for a real gastronomic adventure.
The staff is super friendly and attentive and the service is just what you’d expect for a fine dining restaurant - always there just before you realize you need something.
The ambience is quiet, with well-selected music to set the mood without intruding and the seating is in three separate rooms that seat around ten people so you have a sense of privacy.
All Spice is great for romantic dinners, special events, family gatherings or even small business meals for people who care about cuisine.
Always delicious and amazing. Love the corn soup and scallops. The pork belly melted away.
My husband and I had a wonderful time and the food was great. We will definitely be coming back.
Exceptional hospitality, great food, highly recommended!
We chose All Spice for our wedding anniversary celebration - and couldn't be happier. Outstanding delicious food - excellent service plus a quite and cozy atmosphere a short walk from our house. Definitely recommend.
Amazing exotic dishes
Went there with my 13 year old. While the service was great, the wait for the main entrè was keeping us on edge. Also the environment is a little too dark, hard to even see what’s on the plate. Great pricing however the short ribs were way too rich. The entire ensemble was catering to a heavy dinner palate, kinda traditional not modern.
Extraordinary food preparation! ...Service excellent ...entrees prepared to order so it takes time , be patient...
Unfortunately for mid September the weather was chilly and the facility was chilly as well...not ideal for an outstanding dining experience... The question: Would we go back? ... despite strong pricing, absolutely !!!
No longer on my Michelin go to restaurant due to a waiter holding a grudge again me speaking up for a fish bone a year ago!!!
As usual, All Spice was fantastic. I can't think of anything remotely comparable in the mid-Peninsula. Thanks again!
Well prepared and imaginative menu presented very attractively. There are many flavors and combinations within each dish. The chocolate dessert was fabulous. Love the setting in an old house with tables in every room. Service was very attentive.
All Spice is now open for lunch. Three course pre fix meal for $35. You choose between soup or salad and a vegetarian or non-vegetarian entree plus dessert. It was an overall pleasant experience.
We were greeted warmly and seated promptly. The server was very knowledgeable and helpful. Those who assisted him were also quite good at meeting our needs, whether water or additional bread. The food was simply delicious. Very flavorful, creative, and presented in an appealing manner.
What a beautiful meal: the food, the service, and the ambiance. I had such a great time catching up with my friend over the delicious foos that what felt like 20 min was really 3 hours that passed. Thank you for a wonderful evening All Spice! Can’t wait to go back
Octopus leg and the mint lassi were so good
I love this restaurant! Going to All Spice is like going to a hip, funky place in Manhattan Beach or Santa Cruz, you are transported outside of boring San Mateo into a real foodie paradise in a setting that is casual but hip. If you can't get to San Francisco or SoCal, go to AllSpice and you will get your real food fix. The staff is attentive but not overbearing, the mood is romantic but also appropriate for a business meal. The food is amazing- sublime and full of fresh flavors and seasonal produce, great if you eat meat but if you don't you still have great options.
The food was absolutely delicious and inviting. The mixture of flavors was delicate and interesting. Each dish was beautiful and eye-pleasing. Early lunch was great because it was pretty empty. It might be noisier at dinner as tablrs are close together and rooms are quite cozy.
All Spice is my husband’s and my avorite restaurant for the last few years. It’s where we go to celebrate events.
Amazing food and service. Absolutely delicious. Loved their house Zinfandel too.
Our second time here, and equally blown away by the creative cuisine and friendly service.
Wonderful restaurant with amazing menu creations that evolve with time. Family owned, michelin star place, one of the best in the Peninsula and definitely one of my favorites.
I've been to this restaurant many times in the past. Its usually on a special occasion. Infact most people come here to celebrate a special occasion. Its a quiet, romantic, cute little home converted to a restaurant. This place is not just about food or ambience. Its about the experience. Its about making that special occasion memorable. In the past it has been pretty good. But this last time we were there to celebrate our anniversary, the service didnt meet the high bar that they have set over the years. They never even cared about our anniversary, server wasn't even friendly, no wishes, no smile or anything. Just doing his job. Maybe i'm being hard but i feel that if i have to pay premium prices to be at your restaurant then i should be getting the full experience. Service with a smile always makes all the difference. I'll definitely be going back and I hope the next time they do meet our expectations.
Great food and great service. It was a great place to celebrate a birthday!
creative, flavorful dishes from start to finish, beautifully presented. a real treat!
All spice is one of if-not the best restaurant in the Bay Area.
I’m thinking Michelin
Consistently great surprising flavors
Really a surprising find here in San Mateo. Exquisite presentation and taste. No bite was wasted. The chef is an artist.
All Spice has long been a favorite of ours, though we don't come here often. This time was a spur of the moment weeknight dinner, and we went all out settling on the tasting menu with a shared wine pairing. This is not your 2-bites per course tasting. We were hungry coming in and stuffed at the end after six courses and tasty bread. Every course was superb and the BBQ yam an unexpected stand-out. Each course was different and interesting, always with complex and tasty combinations of flavors. Service, as usual, was attentive and professional without a trace of snootiness.
The only detractor was the very loud man at a nearby table, but that's not the fault of the restaurant. Too bad we're not working for one of his company's competitors - we could profit from his running commentary.
