Contemporary American
All Spice is an eclectic, contemporary eatery from Chef/Owner Sachin Chopra. Fresh Californian ingredients are artfully blended with global techniques to create inventive, layered and flavorful dishes. Whether you choose to order from our constantly evolving a la carte selection or to experience our nightly Chef's Tasting Menu, you will be presented with something delicious, beautiful with just a hint of the exotic. The restaurant is housed in a converted home with hardwood floors, a fireplace and a variety of architectural details. Each of three intimate dining rooms is decorated in bold hues accented with gold. Thirty seats are scattered throughout. Professional service and a thoughtful, moderately priced wine list complement Chopra's dishes. To book reservations for parties of 5+, please call the restaurant directly.

We had a fantastic meal prepared by chef Sachin Chopra. The service was impeccable. A tad expensive but worth every penny.

All Spice is our go-to foodie, special-event place. The food never disappoints and the service is amazing. I love following Sachin’s culinary tangents. Shoshana’s greeting is like a big warm hug/ therapy session every time we walk through the front door. Most of the servers have been there over 5 years which tells you a lot. Just celebrated another anniversary there tonight.

always a pleasure from every angle! the food and its presentation are always a feast for the eyes and soul
then there is the warmth and service - all of it makes for such a wonderful evening.
don't let the location firm the wrong impression - it can be hard to find, but so worth it!

This restaurant is an absolute gem! The service is phenomenal the chef is creative the menu is always changing. The tasting menu is a great value! This is a perfect special occasion restaurant but it’s priced so that you could go there once a week if you wanted to. I highly recommend it!

Eating at All Spice is an adventure in fabulous flavors and exciting combinations of ingredients. Many of my guests have been blown away by the experience and have said that "this is my new all time Favorite"I have eaten there many times and each time my anticipation is at the same level as it would be if I were going to one of the more famous three starredrestaurants in San Francisco or Napa Valley

Difficult to find, but worth the effort. It has an El Camino Real address but is actually down an alley off El Camino, where you will find free and adequate parking. The venue is a small Victorian house and the dining rooms are small which would make for a quiet meal and did until a table of four very loud people was seated next to us. Still, the food was really good and the service was excellent. We had ala carte items rather than the prix fixe, but we will try the prix fixe next time. This is a great addition to the Peninsula, which suffers from a dearth of good restaurants like this. It was worth our drive from San Francisco.

An ideal restaurant for a business - or any - lunch. Excellent in all aspects. I especially enjoyed the mushroom soup. For a 3 course lunch, including gratuity, it is a bargain. I live in Paris where I lunch at least 2 if not 3 times a week. I would choose All Spice if it were in Paris, too! One doesn't expect a high standard in San Mateo or SFBA. My guest and I will dine soon as the dinner menu is different from the lunch menu.

This was our first time for the restaurant and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The beef and fish were both very good and the appetizers were also good. We finished the evening with a chocolate dessert which was delicious. We will definitely be coming back.

Our party of four had a very nice evening. All enjoyed their entrees (especially the vegetarian options). The prices are steep and the portions are modest, but not skimpy. It is actually how much we should eat. The service is attentive, but not intrusive, and the servers explained each presentation when delivered, a helpful reminder of what we may not have remembered from the menu descriptions. The environment here is very appealing to people who want to enjoy pleasant, home-like surroundings in small rooms and carry out a conversation over dinner without having to yell at each other. We have been here multiple times and have always enjoyed the total experience. This was no exception.

Delicious as always!! Our table had the Savory Black Rice Beignets, Pan Seared Scallops and Artichoke Soup for starters, so delicious - all the flavors in each dish were perfectly matched. For entrees, we had the cardamom-cured seabass, Roasted Cauliflower and Wagyu Beef Shoulder Confit. Everyone's first bite prompted "ooh, this is so good".

All Spice delivers - always! Whether dinner or lunch - superlative in all ways. A wonderful time to catch up on the new plans of a dear friend. Shall return in another week. Yes, excellent for lunch and dinner. Dinner has an extensive menu, of course, while lunch is 3 courses with 2 or 3 choices in each category. Be certain to book just in case others discover the pleasure of lunch at All Spice!

I was excited to try this venue as the reviews were great. My overall experience was underwhelming. First this is a small house that's been converted to a restaurant, tables are close together and the sound level is high. In reviewing the menu, I was taken aback by the high prices because certainly the ambience didn't warrant,it feels like being in a small Thai restaurant.

The menu actually sounded delicious and we ordered the fried chicken appetizer and black rice beignet. The chicken tasted like it was cooked yesterday and reheated. The pastries it's looked beautiful and we're fluffy, but had a bitter taste in the middle and seemed under cooked.

We both had fish, Seabass and salmon, both tasted and smelled fishy. That was it, I was done and didn't finish.
The highlight actually was the trio of ice cream scoops at the end, all of which were refreshing in comparison to the other four dishes.

Clearly the chef has some fine ideas about food but the execution just doesn't come off. When dishes look good but taste just meh, somebody isn't minding in the stove.

Intimate, quiet diningroom serving a limited lunch menu. Food was artfully presented. There was quite a bit of lag time between courses, and we were not at all rushed. Do wish bread would have been served with the soup/salad course.

I took my husband here for his 70th birthday. We l live just a block away, so we had a nice walk in the rain. We were seated immediately and asked what we would like to drink. The service was impeccable. I ordered the sea bass, and my husband ordered the steak. The food was an adventure and prepared with care and love. I actually liked the steak better thsn the sea bass. There were so many surprises during our meal. The pre-entree asparagus was a pleasant addition. And the little strawberry cakes after dessert. Wow! Creme brulee was amazing. We also had the beignets as an appetizer. Yum! We'll be back - when we win the lottery!

I love All Spice. Usually the food is outstanding. This time, there were a few issues with the tasting menu, but it was still very good. (Duck chewy, skin not crispy. Beef was just not very good. Very boring and unflavorful.) The fish and mushroom first course were both extremely delicious. This is the first time that I haven't been completely blown away, but I still had a nice meal.

The preparation of individual components within a dish was excellent. Where they missed was in putting too many competing flavors in a single dish. Sometimes less is more.

The news that All Spice serves lunch Tuesday to Friday was GREAT news! My favorite restaurant in SFBA and now it is possible to invite business colleagues and freinds for lunch. The food is exceptional - was every dinner - yet the quality/price ratio is exceptional for lunch. $35 for a a 3 course excellent lunch in beeautiful surroundings and it even includes the gratuity. I've already planned to take guests for lunch next week. Shall book OpenTable as soon as we confirm the day.

Our lunch experience was very disappointing. Awkward because my friend and I were the only patrons on Friday. Because of this, our waiter was not on land for a number of requests we wanted to make. The food was ok, but the main course of "Airline chicken" was not pleasant to look at as it had a black crumb-like crust on it. All Spice has been my husband's and my favorite restaurant near SFO for years, but the last time we had dinner there, the food seemed very different and we were disappointed. We have no plans to return.

Food was excellent. Well balanced, delicate flavor and very creative ingredients combinations.
However we had to wait 1 hour between Appetizer and main dish. During that time no one came and checked on us. We asked a waiter why our dishes were so late but only he defended the restaurant with non sense excuses which made us more upset. He was not apologetic and he seemed getting upset with us. He did bring reluctantly complimentary dessert which was excellent. Dinig experiences must be a whole package including service flow and waiters manner at fine restaurants. Unfortunately they failed. It was my birthday that night and we felt they completely ruined it. We left restaurant with bad feelings.
