Amazing decor and great atmosphere
The service was good and it looked amazing. I gave it a 4 for the food because the lobster risotto was way over salty.
Staff was friendly and helpful in recommending wine pairing. Ravioli was really tasty but odd for a appetizer choice. Risotto was salty and lobster had a fishy taste. I couldn’t overlook that which is why I think I’d only come back for the rooftop in the future.
The staff and service were amazing, from the valets to the servers to the bartenders. Whoever trained them did a beautiful job, as they were friendly, responsive, and to the best of their ability, accommodating. We went to celebrate a friend’s birthday on the rooftop. Everything was great! The only thing that prevents me from giving this experience 5 stars is that the food menu for the rooftop was a bit limited. It advertised as serving light meals, which is great, I just wish there had been more variety to choose from. But the food we had (chicken sliders and fingerling potatoes) was good. I would suggest adding some salads, for instance. Other than that one thing, it was a truly lovely afternoon. We will definitely be back!
ALK was excellent. We ordered all vegan items. The servers were very attentive and we had a very pleasant experience.
The restaurant is at the end of the lobby of this small hotel. It has a nice setup with a small outdoor seating area.
The staff was polite and attentive to start the meal.
The fried mushrooms were crispy but bland.
The accompanying sauce made it good.
The sausage dumplings were excellent.
Burger was nice.
Beet salad with chicken was so-so. It was four small beats in beat puree, a small mound of sprouts in the middle, and some cheese lumps. More of an appetizer than a salad. The chicken was brought out on a side dish in a very plain manner.
About 3/4 way through the meal the waiter completely disappeared for about 20-30 minutes. There were plenty of wait staff walking around in this small place so it's surprising he did not have someone cover him. Was he on break? After I flagged someone down to find our waiter, he came back with the bill. I then put my card down and it sat on the table for another 10 minutes before I got his attention to come get it.
It seems this location is right next to a fire station. Trucks drove by with full sirens at least two times and fills the small lobby and restaurant with noise. It is LOUD.
It was ok, but will not be back.
Incredibly overpriced for what you actually get. Upon sitting down, I immediately questioned why I was subjecting myself to pay $45 per person to only receive half portions of food. There doesn’t seem to be any additional value to the aspect of ‘dine-LA’ when compared to any other time you’d try a new restaurant in this area. For a totally bill of $150, I believe I could’ve ordered off the regular menu, gotten full-size portions of what I ordered, and just as well received the same experience for the same price. Nothing special about the food, nor the over-priced drinks, nor the overly enthusiastic wait staff.
Dine LA. Good local weeknight dining.
Tried this restaurant on a whim as it was near the Pantages where we had seen Hamilton. Got there early for a 6pm res. Hardly anyone there. The waitress advised that the hotel and the restaurant had been open for just about one month. The building was brand spanking new. We ordered the Dine LA menu. All the food was very good. I hope more people try this place.
Nice view, nice ambiance
I am so impressed. Fabulous food for a party of 8. Never felt rushed or like we were a burden!
I’m very thankful to have just moved across the street from ALK and gave it a try right away. The food is exceptional (highly recommend the dinner rolls, pork belly dumplings, New York strip and duck entree), the service is fantastic (Adam is the best, but honestly I haven’t had a single negative staff experience yet), the prices are insanely reasonable, and the vibe is great. I do wish the music were a bit louder and the lights a bit lower to match the trendiness of the place, but that’s hardly a negative factor in the overall experience. I’ve been 3 times so far and am excited to have a new neighborhood spot to frequent (something that feels like a bit of a challenge in Hollywood).
Hopefully my experience was just the growing pains of a new restaurant. It all started with making the reservation. I wanted to make a res for 8 pm on Friday night. That was not available. It was either 7:45 or 8:30. When we arrived there were maybe two tables with people. After we sat maybe one or two other tables came in. Essentially the restaurant was empty for a Friday night. Why I couldn't book 8 baffles me.
The menu is small. I usually take that to mean they are going to do a stellar job with what they offer. One of the appetizers was an odd crudite and hummus plate. Not exactly a special dish. One of my friends ordered a shrimp dish, the other ordered a steak. I ordered the burger after the waiter said the burger was good and better than Stout Burger. My friends meals came out about 15 plus minutes before my burger. They were almost finished by the time the burger arrived. In my conversation with the waiter about the burger we discussed how it had to be medium rare, definitely pink. My burger was medium well. I kindly asked if they could remake the burger medium rare. A few minutes after the waiter took my plate he brought it back to me saying this was the last burger they had. That seemed crazy that on a Friday night by 9ish with very few patrons that you run out a staple like a burger. I opted to try the duck breast instead. After a bit the duck arrived. Odd combination of rice kimchi and duck. The duck had not been rendered enough so the skin was almost crispy but a little rubbery.
Hopefully they get things on track. The restaurant is less than a 5 minute walk and it would be great to have a quality restaurant that close.
While the ambience of the room is not the greatest, the food is simply spectacular. Not a bad dish. Excellent flavor in the Steak frites. Excellent. The duck breast was tender and perfectly done. The special fired mushrooms delicious. The pork belly dumplings rich and sumptuous. Just excellent food.
