About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Neighborhood gem
  • Great for creative cocktails
“Alici” may be the Italian word for anchovies, but the focus at this suave seafood-themed ristorante from Pat Pascarella (of Bastone and Grana) is on oysters — 5 or 7 varieties a day — and on a variety of fish cooked in southern Italian fashion.

I’ve been to Alise before and thought I had a good experience, but with their new menu this was over the top amazing!! I absolutely loved everything we got and can’t pick a favorite. We started with 18 oysters to take advantage of their happy hour, then we got a half order of fries, their spaghetti in lobster bisque (unreal!!) and the fried oyster deviled eggs. We finished with their peach cheesecake bomb which was the perfect ending. Loved this experience!

Went for my bday and the service was great and our waitress took her time explaining the menu and taking care of us. My favorite place for oysters. I've been here at 5 times and they never disappoint. Great job you guys 🙌🏾

The nice assortment of oysters (especially cold water varieties) remains the constant and real reason to choose Alici. The broader menu appears to be in its third iteration. The original menu offered a nice variety of pasta and fish 'foundations' to which you added a sauce or preparation of choice from several options. IMO this was by far the best menu, though the bill could add up quickly. Version 2 was a slimmed down version of the original but still offered a more dinner-type selection. The current menu has completed the transformation from a serious dinner house to a casual, more lunchy-feel: gone are the selection of pastas, fish and various sauces/preparations. the main menu now consists of several "appetizers", two fish sandwiches, fish and chips, a burger, one pasta, a (rather smallish) lobster roll, and a half (yes, half) branzino. The lobster roll was, as stated, a bit smallish for $38 but my dining companion found it rich and delicious. The accompanying fries, however, were another matter. He detected a bit of rancidity in the oil, while I found them to be unremarkable and flavorless - likened to noshing on cardboard. My half branzino was $42 - what one would expect to pay for a whole branzino most other places. By halving the fish, they risked -- and, succeeded in -- overcooking the meat to the point the areas near the head and tail were way overdone. The accompanying medley of diced squash, thin sliced jalapenos, bitter greens, and radish was delicious as was the tasty (but, cold) underlayer of sweet corn puree. Not sure if the menu followed the crowd or vice versa; but, the place (while never being a white tablecloth kind of place) now feels much more casual, less dressy (shorts, t-shirts?), more bistro, less substantive dinner place. Perhaps it was the neighborhood, the parking, or the higher price point of the opening menu. Casual diners should find something to enjoy, oyster lovers will continue to thrive.

We had a 6p reservation but they were able to seat us at 5:30p. Our waitress, Bailey, was amazing and sweet. We very much indulged in their happy hour oysters (which they have all evening)! We loved our drinks and split between the two of us, the bill was reasonable.

Cool ambiance. I ordered the oysters and spaghetti. Oysters were great, the spaghetti was extra al dente - very tough. I also ordered a tequila cocktail off the happy hour menu that tasted extra bitter (I can’t remember the name of it). Overall, for the price, I was very underwhelmed.
