Special birthday celebration. Told the host and they provided gorgeous and delicious complimentary dessert with Happy Birthday sign. Just perfect for event. Will come again soon. Thank you.
Great ambiance and tasteful dining room. However brunch selection is very limited and flavors are disappointing. Bloody Mary was more like Heinz + vodka.
We stayed three nights at St. Regis visiting Washington DC and enjoyed breakfast each morning at Alhambra. The food was delicious and the service by all the staff was excellent! We loved the ambiance and decor. We look forward to visiting again soon!
The best eggs Benedict! I loved the touch of truffle on each egg! Absolutely my favorite!
Place was amazing, food is excellent
After a long day checking out museums, and considering how good the room service breakfast was, we decided to have dinner at the hotel restaurant. We made a great choice - the food was wonderful.
We started with a cauliflower app and kale salad that were both delicious, and then had the lamb & beef tenderloin with sides of broccolini, Brussel sprouts, and gnocchi. Everything was fantastic, but the beef tenderloin with a wild boar ragú was sensational.
Only downside is that the wine menu wasn’t very exciting and had a 4-500% markup.
Better taste than expexted，I would definitely come again
The server seemed to be new - so sever was not good. We had to ask for a wine menu twice, which took about 15 minutes to get. Once we ordered, the appetizers and salads were very good. Took forever to get our entrees, which unfortunately were barely warm. Again, disappointing because the flavors were great. Obviously, the chef knows what he or she is doing, but the wait staff is not timely in delivery.
We will not be back.
Beautiful room with excellent service and delicious food. Highly recommended.
Great dining experience. One of the best Brunch presentations in DC.
The food and the service is of the highest quality. You get what you paid for.
Great ambiance and food, would definitely recommend to family and friends.
Excellent overall. Beautiful setting and service.
Service and customer attention is fantastic. Beautiful restaurant with a fantastic service. Great location.
The restaurant, located in the St, Regis hotel, has an upscale feel. Even crowded on Valentine’s day it was quiet enough to carry on a long conversation without having to raise our voices. The service was timely and accommodating. In all fairness, since we were there for Valentine’s day the menu had limited options, which we were ok with. However, each course was mediocre and I couldn’t help but think I could get food of that quality in a ton of other restaurants at easily half the price. The amuse bouche was forgettable. My filet mignon, ordered medium rare, arrived medium. The bill for two was over $300 (included gratuity)
We were looking forward to our dinner at Alhambra - it was our first time there. Unfortunately, while food was good, it was VERY overpriced and not memorable like in other DC expensive, but special restaurants. The service was underwhelming. We ordered two glasses of Pinot Noir that was listed at $17 per glass in the menu, when our bill arrived, we noticed that we were charged over $21 per glass. When I questioned the discrepancy, the waiter brought the menu and pointed out a different more expensive Pinot Noir that he apparently brought. There were no apologies, no concessions. Also, the bill included 20% tip. Nowhere in the menu did it say that they automatically add tip fir a party of two. We usually tip 20% and more for good service, but this expression of entitlement is not appreciated. Looked like all other customers where people with expense account who stay at the hotel and don’t know that DC has many much better places.
Amazing buffet but quite pricey
Alhambra's menu changes frequently and we always are wonderfully surprised. Last Saturday, my wife and I shared the Spanish octopus appetizer. The beautiful presentation included a decoration of finely minced vegetables scattered over the octopus that was displayed on a thin spread of mashed winter roots. For the main course, I had the lamb shank. Tender describes the texture of the meat. The flavor hinted of roasting, rosemary and a touch of garlic. My wife raved about her scallops. Our waiter recommended a pinot noir that accompanied my lamb and complimented my wife's scallops. Each time we dine at Alhambra we are more impressed than the visit before.
First time! Everything was great!
We enjoyed Alambra. The food was good and ambiance very nice. Service was good. Pricey though!
We had previously been to Alhambra for brunch and the experience was good, natural light filled the room and made the beautiful ceiling seem warm. The service was fantastic and the food was fine, but the lighting and seating felt like we were in a conference room, and the spots on the ceiling made it less pretty. I don't mind sitting near other tables, that's part of dining out, but the lighting didn't foster any sense of intimacy. We were there celebrating my birthday and declined to order additional drinks to extend our time there and instead went to another nearby restaurant bar for better ambiance.
I chose a 3 course fixed price dinner which was delicious and a great value. I had a Caesar salad, scallops over couscous and a Carmel toffee tort for desert. Everything was seasoned beautifully. Service was excellent.
Average food in a nice environment. Not very Mediterranean, though!
Today’s brunch was much better than Friday night dinner. Food selection and service staff were more prepared on Sunday than last Friday.
We were celebrating New Year's Day- and several personal milestones- with our son visiting from Boston- and this was early dinner post theater at Sidney Harman's. The magnificent old world elegance of St Regis adds to the beautiful modern ambiance of Alhamra. We ordered the salted salmon/potatoes, roasted lamb and the mushroom ravioli- all prepared as delicacies with much care. Dessert was gingerbread cheesecake and apple pecan/ bourbon ice cream- all superbly delicious. Service was courteous and informative- we even stopped by at the concierge desk for local info as the manager and maitre d' wished us a happy new year. A walk down to the Ellipse to see the lighted Christmas tree on this mild winter evening ended our great day out in DC!
New Year’s Eve
Starters took 45 mins to make it to the table. Soup was cold. Beef Wellington was wet on bottom. Lamb served without proper utensils. Chocolate torte was insanely sweet. Panna cotta was icy in center and berries and coulis were too tart.
I fear that either this restaurant is over-rated...or we just happened to be there on a night that was not their best. Service was terrible. Wrong drinks, wrong dessert served, had to ask for wine twice...on the third time we were served the wine...food was very tasty...they were accommodating regarding the menu, but mistake on the bill and no birthday candle as had been requested. All in all, quite disappointing.
A bit expensive. Food was very, very good. Service was a bit slow.
Christmas Day lunch. Special 3 course lunch. We had chestnut soup, beef Wellington and deserts. Everything was delicious.
The lunch was nicely paced, and service was attentive and not intrusive. Our waiter was knowledgeable about the different choices.
There was also an oyster with caviar amuse bouche.
The room is elegant with a choice of table and booth seating.
To be fair, since this was a Christmas lunch with a fixed menu.... not all items were acceptable given the price being charged... Fish was very chewy and the dessert was grocery store variety
We celebrated our 25th anniversary the staff and food was spectacular. There was another part there with more people that’s what added the noise. If there is anything I would add to make it better it would be some soft classical music or very soft music which would have enhanced ambiance. Overall it was great.
Best brunch I’ve ever had in my life. Simply exquisite!
Truly outstanding brunch and worth $79. I would recommend getting the poached lobster eggs benedict (a $5 supplement) as your entree that is made to order, as it is their signature dish and amazing.
One of the lousiest dinners I’ve had in DC. Never ever go here. Entrees came out cold and late. Waiter forgot several orders. It was just sad.
Great food! Wonderful seamless service
We have eaten several times at the St Regis and always thought it wonderful. Thanksgiving, not so much. The waiter seemed harried although, when we ate, the restaurant was far from full. The soup was served lukewarm, the meat was covering whatever accompaniment was there and the desserts were miniscule. I understand that on a holiday, things can get hectic. The restaurant, however, should be professionally prepared for that. I felt the Alhambra was not.
Been in two first dates in a week madre and they gave me an awesome secluded table in both
