Designed by renowned architect David Rockwell and the talented Rockwell Group, Alhambra highlights many of the historic building’s original features, including a landmarked hand painted ceiling. It is set in a landscape of bold hues of black, silver, brown, cream and gold, which intermingle with rich textures to create a lush, warm environment.

What a gloriously elegant way to enjoy Sunday brunch. From the delicious food selections to the impeccable service to the fantastic jazz duo, we got our money’s worth. On a side note, what is the deal with people arriving at a place like this dressed in rumpled t-shirts and wearing hats in the dining room. One guy was actually wearing swimming trunks. Oh well! It didn’t ruin our time but kind of disappointing to see people showing up to place dressed so scraggly!
We selected Alhambra based on other Open Table Reviews, and decided Restaurant Week was a good time to try. First, the positive - the service was excellent, all the way from the hostess to the servers. the appetizers (we had the eggplant and the salad) and dessert were also very good. However, the roasted chicken was very dry (not sure if it was reheated or simply overcooked). We may give them another try, but based on what we had we would probably not pay full price.
The service was great, very attentive. The food was amazing. My appetizer was the eggplant. The flavors combined so well. My entree was the lamb. It was incredible; so tender just slid off the bone. I highly recommend.
Overall nice experience during Restaurant Week. Extensive wine list and food was well prepared. Service experience was a bit rigid and lacking. Disappointed in that aspect.
Excellent experience, from top to bottom. Beautiful decor, great service, fantastic cocktails and food. Only complaint was the $17 valet parking. Otherwise it was near perfect. Best key lime pie I've ever had too.
My husband and I came here for restaurant week. Excellent menu and service. Very romantic elegant place right inside the St. Regis Hotel.
We had the Sunday Brunch here. It was absolutely fabulous. Beautiful, elegant restaurant interior. Excellent, attentive service. Live jazz. The food was wonderful.
We started with the seafood station which featured smoked salmon, oysters, octopus salad, shrimp (prawn)
cocktails, grilled asparagus, delicious red peppers with pine nuts and a variety of cheeses and bread assortments.
There were champagne mimosas made with melon, grapefruit, orange or strawberries and rich bloody marys available. There also was quiche and soup at a hot station which was always refreshed.
You order an entree also as part of the meal. I had a lobster/egg benedict on toasted rustic bread and my husband had a hearty tuna nicoise salad. Both of our entrees were exquisitely prepared and delicious as we enjoyed them while listening to the smooth live jazz.
The dessert station awaits with miniature carrot cakes, macaroons, chocolate mousse cups and more.
This was a wonderful experience and we think it is one of the best brunches in DC. Go!
I attended the Jazz Brunch on Sunday and it was such a wonderful experience. The food was delicious and the service was superb. I would definitely recommend Alhambra.
New York quality. This relatively new restaurant with a distinguished executive chef will come to be seen as one of the best restaurants in the area. Get there ahead of the crowd.
Very pretty place -- the whole dining area is pure opulence. The set-up however is a bit awkward -- small plates make for many, winding trips to the food/drink bar but I would definitely be back. The food was awesome!
Excellent, friendly unpretentious service; subdued music for a welcome change facilitating conversation; and the chef is an artist - all dishes we had were unique and delicious.
Everything was perfect. As usual.
Alhambra in the St. Regis is a total sensory experience! The food, the decor, the ambiance - the restaurant is such a treat. The floor-to-ceiling windows glow in the evening and the juxtaposition of the modern seating to the old-world architecture is stunning. The new executive chef, Chef Sebastien, presented a perfect Chateaubriand with a divine Bordelaise sauce that would melt in your mouth! The staff is attentive and pleasant but not overbearing. We had pre-dinner drinks in the adjoining bar - always build in time to do so!
Power breakfast place, private dining room is perfect for small group tucked away nicely done. Food was great corn beef hash the best!!! Kasey and José were very attentive the provided wonderful service.
Alhambra delivers! Whether having productive business meal or enjoying a moment with friends or family this hidden gem on the corner of K & 16th is the place to be. Service is attentive but unobtrusive - food is delightful, prepared to perfection highlighting every ingredient - and vine list is suited for a sommelier. Busines 3-course lunch with menu that is changing daily starts at only $39 for exquisite selection of meat, fish or vegetarian option. Looking forward to my next visit.
Stellar brunch. Not too many entrees to choose from but a nice presentation of upscale items in the buffet, plus your choice of a handful of entrees from the kitchen which is in addition to the buffet. Adam, our server, was very friendly. We were both impressed with the atmosphere, presentation, taste and service. Oxana, who took our reservation was also extremely pleasant. We will go back.
Old smelly lobby. No patrons at 7:30pm on Friday. Limited menu and wines by the glass. Food was marginal. Service was great. Whole restaurant concept needs to be redone. Worst dining experience in Washington DC I’ve ever had.
Great brunch chef made extra effort for my wife to lighten the lobster dish. The strawberry mimosa was devine!!!!
Food, service and the live music was great at our Father’s day brunch!
Lovely atmosphere and extremely good food!! Service was outstanding!! Well above my expectations!!
Beautiful atmosphere and wonderful food complemented by imperceptible service. Perfect for a business luncheon or really any occasion.
Food and service were outstanding, we met the Chef from southern France very nice gentlemen, extremely knowledgeable about Mediterranean Provençal cuisine.
I will certainly return. Great price value for food and beverages.
The best Brunch for value and food, great service. Live music was outstanding.
If you are looking for a wonderful Sunday Brunch I highly recommend this restaurant.
We really didn’t eat there. Reservation was made we arrived and restaurant was closed. 😕
Went on Mother's Day for Brunch - it was $79 per person and $99 if you wanted to include their drink package. The quality was good but not worth $79, there was not a lot of selection if you don't eat seafood. The main buffet area revolved around seafood (mainly raw options) which doesn't really make sense for a mother’s day brunch as a quarter of the guests were pregnant and could not eat the seafood. A limited hot bar section which consisted of tomato soup, 2 quiches and an individual size corn beef hash plate. The final buffet table was a dessert table which was very good. Included in your buffet selection you get 1 entrée. The portions were very small but good again mainly revolved around seafood. Overall service was friendly and accommodating though it was not 5 star services. The servers have not been taught as such. You may sit with an empty cup or a few empty plates on your table, menus left on the table and silverware not replaced for the length of your meal unless you request that service. I am only saying this as they advertise as luxury and charge prices of luxury but have fine tuning to do on the service provided. Overall the ambiance was enjoyable while we sat surrounded by beautiful décor. The hostess recognized my special requests that I had input in my opentable reservation and our waiter went above and beyond on recognizing the special day which we were very grateful for.
Great restaurant in the St. Regis hotel. Great food without the crowds.
We had a wonderful time and were treated like royalty. I highly recommend this restaurant for any special occasion or date night.
The restaurant is beautiful, but the food was disappointing, especially for the price, but it would have been disappointing at lower prices as well. Our waitress was excellent and did everything possible to try to make our experience positive.
We found the menu to be a bit quotidian, but everything that we consumed food was expertly prepared and really very succulent.
Overall experience was excellent. One request—a larger table for our party of four. Not much room for dinner plates when you add sides pots, bread, butter, wine and water glasses.
Still, I am looking forward to my next meal here.
Very romantic- excellent service.
Wondered why it was so empty
Always a pleasure to dine at Alhambra. Excellent, professional staff; fine menu and reasonably priced for a "high end" restaurant in DC. Very peaceful, quiet atmosphere is most appreciated since finding a quiet restaurant in the District has become a bit of a challenge. Well done!
Absolutely wonderful new menu! Loved the lunch ‘box’ menu - very creative and well priced!
Wonderful service in an elegant setting. We all had club sandwiches and champagne (odd combo...) so hard to critique the food, but would definitely go back. Nice place.
We had a lovely dinner get-together for four couples. The food and the service were wonderful. The eggplant warm appetizer was especially good. The filet mignon was also good although it was not serve as hot as I would have liked. This may be because we had a group of eight and all of us were serve together. Was a great meal.
Service: We had a reservation for 8 PM, there were very few people there. My husband and I and at most 3 other tables with about 2-3 people at each table. My husband received the wrong beer. We had to ask for extra butter 3 times (2 different servers including the one assigned to our table) before we finally got it. For a lean day, that was almost unacceptable service levels. The servers were all very friendly and nice and when they stopped by they took time to talk to us but it seemed like we had to put in a lot of effort just to get their attention. We were tucked away in a cabana of sorts and it almost felt like we were forgotten.
Food: the menu is very limited. If you’re not a fish/sea food person (like me), add eggplant to the list. There are pretty much only 3-4 things on the menu you’re left with to pick appetizers and entrees from. The food was good, but not extraordinary in any way. Portions of sides except the fries are quite small. I picked the ‘Alhambra’ for dessert and really enjoyed it.
Warm appetizer - fried cauliflower with raisin, almonds, parsley and curry was delicious.
Entree - Striped bass was mediocre. Too thick, and not much flavor
Entree - Rack of lamb was terrible. It was undercooked pretty raw inside and very fatty, we sent it back but still didn't taste good.
This was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a while. The restaurant is gorgeous. Service was impeccable. Food was perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked. Really nice choice of wines by the glass.. My husband had the chocolat tarte that was amazing (and I don’t like dessert) I very Highly recommend this restaurant.
They evidently need some time working out kinks in the service.
Food was delicious. Service started off sparse but got better. I think due to patrons to staff ratio, not that the very nice waiter was inattentive. The waiter was actually very personable and thoughtful. The only real issue was that we were two seated at a four top. At one point the hostess tried to sit two others at "our" table. Before I could speak up the party that they were trying to seat said "no". Of course no. And they were seated elsewhere. I spoke to that couple during brunch to say how odd that they tried seating us together. They agreed and apologized if I was offended. Very gracious and of course we were of the same mind so I was not offended. Still very odd to have put either of us in the position to say we don't want to sit with them!
