Mediterranean
Welcome to Alhambra, a culmination of modern Mediterranean and French cuisine that celebrates fresh, local ingredients prepared simply yet masterfully. Showcasing the rich bounty of produce and fish in the region in a modern and convivial setting, Chef Sebastien Giannini presents a seasonally inspired menu enhanced with the classic flavors of the Mediterranean.

Designed by renowned architect David Rockwell and the talented Rockwell Group, Alhambra highlights many of the historic building’s original features, including a landmarked hand painted ceiling. It is set in a landscape of bold hues of black, silver, brown, cream and gold, which intermingle with rich textures to create a lush, warm environment.

Went for Restaurant Week lunch. The space is gorgeous, and it wasn't busy. Waitstaff were polite, attentive, and friendly. The food was amazing! Short rib, beet salad, butternut soup, cauliflower--all excellent. The potatoes served with the short rib were to die for. Deserts were good but not great.

Honestly it was sad that we trusted reviews to spend our Christmas dinner here. Obviously there is an issue with the chef, the quality of the food was terrible. And the dishes were not well thought out and sloppy. For a pre fix 4 course dinner we expected sooo much more and rather have had stayed home to cook ourselves. Each dish was over sauced/ over salted and the presentation was poor and boring. Additionally each plate that was brought out was cold. Unless there is a change in chef or cooking staff I would not plan to come back or recommend this place to someone which is a shame because the bar area and ambiance was beautiful. On the bright side we made friends with the tables surrounding us because they all had similar opinions on the dining experience.

My family and I went for the Christmas Day lunch. $79 four course meal +$40 wine pairing. Duck confit was a little dry and the beef was a little fatty for my liking, but everything was delicious. We got a cozy private table and the ambiance was great.

First, the lady in phone for reservations did not let us reserve before 1pm. But we could reserve online and all times were available. The lady I spoke to was very unfriendly.
Next, service was not at all prompt and felt that server assignment was not clear.
Third, menu descriptions were inaccurate and vague. Server was also unknowledgeable and could not explain readily.
Food was so so, nothing to write home about.
Very disappointed. It used to be an enjoyable place before Alhambra. We will be looking for different venues next time

The place is very beautiful and pleasant. We sat next to the Jazz Player and found it really enjoying. The buffet style appetizers offered a wide range of choices. I really enjoyed the shrimp cocktail, oysters, mash potatoes, and the soup. I ordered the lobster Benedict as my entry. To be honest, It looks better than it tastes. While my boyfriend ordered a banana pancake which tastes better than it looks

Not all menu items available. Food was extra oily. Not my cup of tea, so I don’t agree with other reviewers. Good selection and creative menu, just be specific on how you prefer the preparation. Wait staff and management were great, was more kid friendly than expected which was appreciated.

Really enjoyed our dining experience. We had a booth which was great for our anniversary celebration. The Octopus and Mussels were wonderful starters and full of flavor. We had Red Snapper and Lamb for mains. The lamb was a little underdone for my liking but very flavorsome. Desert of French apple tart and Plum Calfoutis rounded off a great evening. The only complaint is that the restrooms feel like they are in another building and confusing with stairs, doors and corridors.

What a gloriously elegant way to enjoy Sunday brunch. From the delicious food selections to the impeccable service to the fantastic jazz duo, we got our money’s worth. On a side note, what is the deal with people arriving at a place like this dressed in rumpled t-shirts and wearing hats in the dining room. One guy was actually wearing swimming trunks. Oh well! It didn’t ruin our time but kind of disappointing to see people showing up to place dressed so scraggly!

We selected Alhambra based on other Open Table Reviews, and decided Restaurant Week was a good time to try. First, the positive - the service was excellent, all the way from the hostess to the servers. the appetizers (we had the eggplant and the salad) and dessert were also very good. However, the roasted chicken was very dry (not sure if it was reheated or simply overcooked). We may give them another try, but based on what we had we would probably not pay full price.

The service was great, very attentive. The food was amazing. My appetizer was the eggplant. The flavors combined so well. My entree was the lamb. It was incredible; so tender just slid off the bone. I highly recommend.

We had the Sunday Brunch here. It was absolutely fabulous. Beautiful, elegant restaurant interior. Excellent, attentive service. Live jazz. The food was wonderful.

We started with the seafood station which featured smoked salmon, oysters, octopus salad, shrimp (prawn)
cocktails, grilled asparagus, delicious red peppers with pine nuts and a variety of cheeses and bread assortments.

There were champagne mimosas made with melon, grapefruit, orange or strawberries and rich bloody marys available. There also was quiche and soup at a hot station which was always refreshed.

You order an entree also as part of the meal. I had a lobster/egg benedict on toasted rustic bread and my husband had a hearty tuna nicoise salad. Both of our entrees were exquisitely prepared and delicious as we enjoyed them while listening to the smooth live jazz.

The dessert station awaits with miniature carrot cakes, macaroons, chocolate mousse cups and more.
This was a wonderful experience and we think it is one of the best brunches in DC. Go!

Very pretty place -- the whole dining area is pure opulence. The set-up however is a bit awkward -- small plates make for many, winding trips to the food/drink bar but I would definitely be back. The food was awesome!

Alhambra in the St. Regis is a total sensory experience! The food, the decor, the ambiance - the restaurant is such a treat. The floor-to-ceiling windows glow in the evening and the juxtaposition of the modern seating to the old-world architecture is stunning. The new executive chef, Chef Sebastien, presented a perfect Chateaubriand with a divine Bordelaise sauce that would melt in your mouth! The staff is attentive and pleasant but not overbearing. We had pre-dinner drinks in the adjoining bar - always build in time to do so!

Alhambra delivers! Whether having productive business meal or enjoying a moment with friends or family this hidden gem on the corner of K & 16th is the place to be. Service is attentive but unobtrusive - food is delightful, prepared to perfection highlighting every ingredient - and vine list is suited for a sommelier. Busines 3-course lunch with menu that is changing daily starts at only $39 for exquisite selection of meat, fish or vegetarian option. Looking forward to my next visit.

Stellar brunch. Not too many entrees to choose from but a nice presentation of upscale items in the buffet, plus your choice of a handful of entrees from the kitchen which is in addition to the buffet. Adam, our server, was very friendly. We were both impressed with the atmosphere, presentation, taste and service. Oxana, who took our reservation was also extremely pleasant. We will go back.
