   Stayed for one night. The food was very well cooked and presented when it eventually showed up. However, the service was really poor. Waited an hour for one dish, we constantly had to chase the waiters as no one would update. We have up on having desert as didn't want to wait another hour.

   Pleasant but unremarkable restaurant (cloth napkins no tablecloth). All staff encountered were pleasant and attentive but despite this we waited an hour for our food (no starter and two burgers). Something strange went on as we were not the only table kept waiting, I complained after nearly an hour and got a complimentary olives and bread starter, then quickly after that the food appeared for all waiting tables.

   When we turned up in person to get seated, we were told there was a 1hr 15 mins wait, but when we booked via the app, we were seated in 15 mins. Neither staff showed any surprise or contrition. When seated the restaurant stank of fish, really strong smell of fish past its best, plus there were fruit flies around. We left the restaurant without eating and won't return.

   Unfortunately we didnt enjoy our meal at all. There was no bread to accompany our olives for our starter. My husband had to wait over 40 mins for his main & when it arrived the duck was very chewy & had already finished my chicken dish which was also chewy. The waiter was apologetic & offered him a complimentary drink. The waitresses could not speak english and were not friendly. The bar area was very cold and they had no draft beer. Not a pleasant experience for our 10th wedding anniversary.

   Lovely food but staff were all very preoccupied. Had to order a round of drinks three times before getting them.

   Not a great experience unfortunately as we were celebrating a birthday. Waited 35 minutes for our starter which when it finally came was ok. We had vegan burger for mains. Clearly deep fried so very hard, extremely dry and crispy( not how a burger should be) Overall not great for cost. Staff were attentive but perhaps should have told us there was a glitch in the system which caused the delay. Not enough vegan/ vegetarian options

   Booked the champagne setting (never received champagne) and they said its not part of the package even though I showed the booking. Nevertheless the food was amazing!! The duck breast was to die for

   Sadly my main course of Duck Breast was cold when it came to the table. However it was dealt with and ultimately did not spoil the evening. In fact it was a wonderful evening and the food was good

   My wife and l were pleasantly surprised by our experience at Alfred’s bar and restaurant. The meals we selected from the menu exceeded our expectations. They were perfectly cooked and quite delicious. We would have no hesitation in visiting again. The restaurant was busy for a Friday night and so food was not quick in coming. It was worth waiting for.

    The food and service were excellent. prompt smiling and helpful service - really tasty food - good portions and really nice drinks. I think something still could be done with the ambiance - they tried hard with candles/lamps on table - but think probably the lights are still a bit harsh for the evening. It was a smart environment but just lacked a tiny bit of soul - worth thinking about to take it up a notch as it was great!
