Visited on a hot Wednesday evening. The garden area was busy but where we were inside was quiet. Staff were attentive even though they were busy and food was perfect. Would recommend the starters Steaks cooked perfectly Would return

Booked a table at the Wallace after reading the good reviews. It was for a special birthday celebration. Unfortunately, we had a terrible experience. We were nearly an hour waiting for our meals and when they arrived the steaks were not cooked as we wanted and the service was terrible. We didn’t complain because we were absolutely starving and couldn’t wait to leave! I don’t normally write negative reviews but It completely ruined the occasion. I would not recommend this restaurant ☹️

The food was unremarkable. We ordered the most premium offerings for steak at two separate doneness levels medium rare and medium-well done. The steaks we received were medium and well done respectively. This is surprising given the name "steakhouse". Sides options are minimal and uninteresting and the potatoes were meant to arrive sliced but appeared mashed. Burger options look like the only viable items on the menu. Overall despite paying premium prices the food was below average.

Excellent food, staff very polite and attentive. We had the prawns to start, shared a chateaubriand for mains and a lemon tart for dessert, all of which I would highly recommend. We also had a drink in the garden before dinner which has an excellent ambiance. Will be visiting again!

The ambience was lovely with some live music (really good singer / guitarist). Staff were friendly and attentive. Starters were poor. The Garlic prawns were very plain in a pot of oil accompanied by a handful of cheap prawn crackers. The soup tasted ok but was Luke warm and had the consistency of mushy peas. The fillet steak was fairly good however my wife's medium fillet arrived rare (almost blue). The server was happy to take back to the kitchen to cook some more. When it was returned 5 minutes later it was fine, however, the rest of the food on the plate was stone cold. The steak had been taken off to cook more and then just put onto the plate with the accompaniments now sitting for well over 10 minutes. The red wine sauce was a gloopy jelly. The "Butty Bach battered Onion rings" were almost certainly just cheap, frozen onion rings. The dauphinoise potatoes were more like congealed mash. The worst thing was the "triple cooked chips". "oily wedges" would be a better description.

An enjoyable meal in the historic town of Usk. Good steaks from a local supplier along with local beer and cider. Good to see a venue honouring a great scientist who was born in the town.
