Service was amazing. The steaks were to die for!
Last night of indoor dinning
Service was above and beyond. Great.
As usual, this was amazing food, exceptional service and wonderful atmosphere. I am unhappy about Mayor London Breed’s decision to close down 25% inside dinning.
I am thinking it is more from people having gatherings that are not in the rules. It is also more from people outside the city. Our small businesses are dying and need more support from our Government.
Nice servers and staff but took way to long. Was not what was expected from this type of restaurant.
We celebrated my parent’s 34th Anniversary. Everything was amazing. He had a wonderful evening.
Overall we had a good experience. For me, the Kobe sampler board and the truffle spaghetti stole the show. My wife had the halibut which was well seasoned and delicious.
It’s a little loud for a steakhouse but being a new school steakhouse I’m guessing they didn’t want it to be stuffy and quiet. Server was a good dude.
We would come back next time we getaway to SF.
Israel at Alexander’s always makes the experience amazing. Wouldn’t come back as many times as I do if it weren’t for him and his service
Very good place to go for party celebrations, food is delicious
We always loved this restaurant. You pay for the experience. Food is always amazing.
It was my boyfriends birthday and the reason I chose this restaurant is because they make an honest attempt at making a birthday special. I saw the reviews online: a tastefully written card and a special dessert for the birthday person. However, despite making a reservation and noting that we were celebrating a birthday- I was dismissed when checking in. It was 7:00 and our reservation wasn’t until 7:15. The host advised us to go to the bar while they prepare our table. We asked the bartender if we could order and he pointed to a high top table that was open. We sat down and waited for someone to hand us a cocktail menu or wine list. 10 minutes later- no one came by. There were others dining in the cocktail area and a server was attentive to them but disregarded us. We gave up on a pre dinner cocktail and made our way back to the host. It was now 7:10. We asked if we could be seated and he mumbled something without looking up at us. With the mask mandate it’s hard to understand others but at least give me the courtesy of some eye contact. When I asked again he snapped “we’re trying to find a table for you.” I’m sorry, but doesn’t making a reservation 2 weeks in advance guarantee me a table? A hostess came back after seating 2 parties ahead of us and said she found a table for us it just needs to be cleaned off. Oh how gracious of her to squeeze us in as if we were such an inconvenience. We sat down and no one came by for 5 minutes. The hostess brought us some waters and we asked her for a wine list because no one has yet to come by. 10 min later. We perused the wine list when a server finally arrives and asks what we’ll be having. No introduction and no display of fine dining service. When I’m about to spend $200 on steak I have some expectations. I expect to be treated with respect and not ignored or dismissed when I’m at an establishment such as this. We were so disappointed with the service we just left. Not sure if we’ll be back.
If you are going to celebrate a special day....do not go here. They do not mention your reason why you came nor celebrate it......
Otherwise, the food is delicious and service great.
It was our 40th anniversary which I mention when I reserved......sad not a peep was mentioned about it. So we ate and left
Excellent steak, superb service, beautiful ambiance.
It was great to be out for some fine dining with the family. Food, service, ambiance was great - only downside was the limited menu. Very few offerings and didn’t have their full selection of alcoholic drinks nor desserts.
It was great as usual. Glad that indoor dining is back. Israel was our server again, fantastic as always.
Amazing restaurant. Can't wait to visit when this thing passes
Great as usual.
The utmost best service and the food is phenomenal. I cannot wait to go back
Great service and excellent food.
Food was great, service was superb, overall an excellent experience!
The service is top notch. They created a wonderful experience for our date night. They were present without being intrusive, striking perfectly that delicate balance.
The food (chef's choice, 4 courses) was also heavenly. The twelve salts were really interesting and adventurous. It was unique in that most tend to ignore salt as something that can alter very dramatically the flavor. Steak was cooked to perfection and the sides were out of this world.
The price is appropriate (expensive!) and definitely worth it.
I can't afford to come here that often, but I will definitely be back to celebrate the next important occasion.
Service crew is very attentive. Food is very good.
Came here for a friends birthday and could not have had a better experience. It felt like fine dining on a level most restaurants these days don’t reach, even with the pricing in today’s restaurants that are supposed to be at the level Alexander’s was. Next time I’m in SF I will definitely be returning here.
We had dinner for my wi
We had amazing time. We sat at the Chefs table and got to view the action. The service was impeccable. We also had a wonderful time talking to Robert the Sommelier. We had such a good experience that we requested Eric, the head chef to come by so we could give our compliments. Highly recommend.
First time to the SF location. The service is lovely and I felt really welcome. The food is good, and they seemed ready to accommodate us every which way. I had a lovely time.
Excellent service from Molly. Ask for her if you plan to dine here.
This was a great experience overall, the staff hospitality being the #1 highlight. However, compared to some other niche steakhouses in SF, this is probably my third choice in the city.
Have not seen service like this in years. Alexander's staff really take great care of their patrons. Great beef with a east meets west twist. There is a lot of items to tickle your taste buds. I would recommend Alexander's to anyone who is a beef lover.
Wagyu too expensive. The 5A steak is good as a "once-in-a-lifetime" thing but too overvalued.
