I’ve been to Alexander’s many times and typically bring 6 or more guest. The food is always interesting and great tasting. The staff is always very polite and courteous. The last two times I’ve noticed that I’ve had to motion to get them to come by and check on us. This time we waited for a very long time to get anyone to take our beverage and longer to take our dinner order. Overall the experience was very good and my guest enjoyed themselves like they always do.

Amazing food and service. Very nice place but unfortunately way too cold despite the standing fan heater. We had to keep our winter jacket during the whole dinner!

Not a great experience:
1. We checked in at our 5:30 reservation time and were escorted to the bar to wait (restaurant virtually empty).
2. They forgot about us at the bar, I had to visit the desk to alert them that we were still waiting to be seated.
3. This is a high-end steakhouse with only one potato dish on the menu (not a baker)...a small whipped dish of potato with lots of Wasabi dust on top...not great.
4. Very cold, stuffy and arrogant feel from the servers...nice suits...., but how 'bout a smile?
Plenty of other steakhouse options in town, we'll go elsewhere next time.

Alexanders is a not just a restaurant but an experience. From our server, Molly, to the sommelier, Dan, we were enjoyed an amazing evening. They took their time and explained the Wagyu beef, and the specific regions in Japan where this beef is raised. We were introduced to new wines that blended beautifully with the beef we chose. It was an education as well as a eating experience. Our evening was a notable moment endearing us to the San Francisco food scene. Thank you Alexanders.

Had a pleasant experience. Our waiter Nathan was very knowledgeable on the menu. Service was good, food was delicious. A nice place to celebrate a special occasion.

There is no reason why this place has not gotten a Michelin star yet. Most creative and original Steak House in the city. They separate theirselves from the rest by infusing different flavors we’ve yet to taste in other steak houses.

I felt very special arriving, being seated, being attended to, everyone helped our table out, it was amazing. My friend was incredibly happy with the experience. It was her birthday! I will be back again! Thank you so much for the great food and wonderful customer service.

First of all as a steak house I would expect a better steak knife than a salad knife for my steak, we we sweating while struggling to cut the t-bone and my fillet mignon. If it's not the knife then bust be the steak, because it's very hard to eat, meat is tough even when its medium rare. I know it's not a piece of wagyu there must be a difference, but it cannot be that big of a difference if you consider yourself a high end steak house. Other than the food, service was good, and the environment is comfortable.

Our server Yahir, our sommelier Sean and many others made our night very special. The cocktails, wine, Prime Rib and Rib-eye were all perfectly prepared. Don't miss the beef and uni app! Even when Chase turned my card down because I was - I guess - eating in a different city? GRRR! They all were all very cool about it. I want to go back tonight.

Came here for a dinner and absolutely LOVED it! The service was outstanding, the food was excellent, and I can't wait to go back. Definitely on the "pricier" side if you want the full experience, but totally worth it.

My son and I ordered the Porterhouse Steaks , they were cooked correctly but we had to figure out which steak was cooked Medium Rare and which was cooked Tate , the wait staff mixed up our order . At 112.00 per steak I expected more , the plates that the steak was served on were cold and half way thru dinner so were the steaks . The flavor , for a quote, DRY AGED steak was mediocre and the steak was tough . The Caramelized Onions , a side dish was mush , although the Mushrooms were good .
Based on the preparation of the Steaks I will not be coming back . Very disappointed!!!
Also , where were seated was like an icebox , very drafty and very cold
Overall this was a poor dining experience and extremely overpriced .

Came here for the first time for a birthday dinner celebration with my girlfriend. We got in at 6:30pm on a Friday night and at first the service was great. They gave us small appetizers, bread with honey butter, and then gave us our grilled octopus (it was amazing but a bit vinegary).

We ordered the Flannery Porterhouse (48 oz.) for two. Good God- we were waiting for our steak FOREVER! We had two and half long conversations that spanned an hour long before we had our steak! They quickly followed up with the sides we ordered (mushrooms and fries). They also gave us this special house made A1 sauce.

The ambiance was beautiful, noise level was a bit loud, and as dinner service picked up and went into the prime time hours, service lacked significantly. No one came to our table to see how we were doing for a very long while, even when we were obviously looking around for someone to come help us or even to give us a courtesy update on our food.

This is a highly expensive place and not even worth it. I doubt I will return.

Loved all the gifts from the kitchen including the truffle butter edamame and the 20oz Prime rib was so tender and juicy. However the ribeye was a disappointment, it was too thin, too lean and a bit tough. Surprised a steakhouse would serve this at over $70 while the prime rib at $50 was outstanding. Also my brother ordered a mint julep not realizing it was made with top shelf premium bourbon for $32. That was his mistake not clarifying he wanted a different bourbon but will do so on any future visit. The waitstaff were five stars and very attentive and kind. The Birthday bubbly was another gift from the kitchen and also a delicious small dessert was brought out in celebration. I would go back to try the chocolate soufflé and get the prime rib again.

I took my boyfriend here for his birthday and I was very pleased with the experience. The staff here were very attentive and knowledgeable with everything. The food was amazing, and plentiful. Their wine menu was very top notch! I can definitely say that it is on the more expensive side but it’s worth every penny spent

One of the poorest restaurant service that I encountered recently, and certainly the poorest in years for a restaurant where you pay $600 for set menu for two. Waiters are barely capable of muttering a few sentences about the dish they are bringing, mixing orders between tables.. It felt like poorly staged show

Excellent meal. Highlights were some Ohmi wagyu, which was delicious, and an excellent porterhouse for 2.
Accompanying butternut squash soup was light but tasty, edamame was very good, and as usual I enjoyed the chocolate souffle. Pleasant, enjoyable and impressive meal.

We had a blast celebrating my father's 70th birthday here. The staff was attentive, kind, and respectful, explaining everything to us. The chef spoiled my dad with desserts for his bday!!! Would definitely return. Our server was Robert. If you can be seated in his section, I highly recommend it! He's great!

Had a pretty good time at the restaurant. I just make a special mention about the service here. The service was impeccable and the food was even better. Would definitely recommend here for a quiet dinner with great ambience and food that’s cooked with unmatched flavor.

It was my husband’s first time. I was really excited to introduce him to one of my favorite restaurants. We came for our anniversary and true to firm, they didn’t disappoint. They made it a special evening by acknowledging our day. Everyone is always polite, attentive, welcoming. The food is outstanding. I’ve had Manhattans in many places but there’s was not a expertly made and had a distinct difference.
