Alexander's Steakhouse - SF Ratings and Reviews
This place blew my mind! The filet Mignon was out of this world I tell you. My overall experience with tasting every dish that came out to the excellent service that was provided made my night very spectacular. My boyfriend and I spent our late Valentines dinner here last night and we were very much satisfied.
Went to dinner with some friends for a random steak night. Alexander’s did not disappoint. We were stuck in crazy traffic on 880 and were definitely going to miss our reservation by half an hour, but we never felt like we were a burden to Yahir and the rest of the staff. We ordered steaks of varying cuts, textures, and prices. Everything was delicious. Our favorite side was the mashed potatoes. Be prepared to pay a hefty price tag, but it will definitely be worth it. We will be back for sure.
Cool atmosphere. Incredible service. Meat was delicious, our table shared the mashed potatoes, the carrots, mushrooms and French fries as sides. The mashed potatoes were scrumptious, everything else was okay. The only downside is the prices, particularly for the drinks- seemed grossly overpriced. Ultimately, I wouldn’t return, as I’ve had just as great food (if not better), for a fraction of the price.
Alexander's seemed to be off its game. The meat quality wasn't at its usual standard (surprising amount of gristle), which shouldn't happen at a place charging those sorts of prices. That was the case for both the ribeye and the steak dishes. And other plates seemed to be a little less inspired than in the past.
I went to eat a Prime Rib
Sorry to say that was not good at all
Full of fat
Bad cocked ( I asked medium but was rear)
No traditional backed potato on the side
Pricy but for SFO standard
I ate Prime Rib in different places in USA and be frank this was the worst
I left 39 usd tip on 210 $ bill and none of the waiters asked me how it was the food
Other than that the restaurant is cool
Maybe I was unlucky
First time and what an experience. Our server was very helpful in explaining the menu and wine list. Everything tasted amazing and a special birthday dessert was brought to my fiancé. Ended the night with a great port. Great place for high end dining. Highly recommend but expect a pricey bill.
My husband and I went to Alexanders for our anniversary. The service was impeccable and everyone there was so warm and friendly. It was one of the best restaurants we have been to in SF to actually have a conversation. The food was amazing and the wine was incredible. I absolutely loved my filet and my husband's bone-in filet. We also got the stonepot, brussel sprouts, and ended with the souffle. Could not recommend it all enough! Plus - they made our anniversary super special with a card, complimentary drinks and dessert.
Good food and excellent service. All the Staff members were friendly, courteous, and know their stuff - wine and menu. Very Impressive.
Glad we celebrated our 35th Wedding Anniversary here. It was our first and you guys certainly did not disappoint. We will be back.
This restaurant is amazing! The Wagyu beef is a lifetime experience! The side dishes are yummy, but beef is King here. The cocktails are yummy! The wine list is extensive but we brought our own. The attention from the staff was perfect. Answered our questions but didn't hover all over. Fantastic special occasion restaurant. My only request? This was a special event, anniversary celebration. It would have been nice to have some little acknowledgement. We told the staff and mentioned it when making the reservation
Host argued about seating us at a 4 top telling me that the 3 they had were for reservations. I explained that I had a reservation. Also we were having a biz meeting and didn’t want to be sitting side by side. A manager came by and told him to seat us at a four top. One of the four tops was empty the entire time we were at the restaurant.
The bone in filet was not available and the bone in New York I had was no where near worth $100. Also my fois gras add on was over cooked.
Disappointed and won’t be back.
Food was very good. Steaks are tasty, choice of cut is outstanding. Our service was a little slow, we were not in a hurry - yet had to encourage our waiter to help us. It became a little embarrassing, to constantly encourage him to ask for our order and then to bring our meal. I had a strong feeling the steaks were prepared and waiting for him - he was lost for a good 25 mins over the stretch of ordering to food arrival.
The wait staff went through the motions but I did not feel they were really interested in good service. That being said we ordered the filet and the prime rib. The filet was fairly good and was cooked appropriately. The large prime rib was very disappointing. I like well marbled steak but half of the prime rib was fat. Not marbeling, but inedible fat. And the rub was too salty. I will give the mushroom a 5 star rating. We had a couple glasses of wine which were good.
Very nice Christmas Eve dinner. Good service, food, and ambience. We thought they cut back their menu since our last visit, which is great as more attention is being paid to individual items. Only gripe - my son thought his ribeye was not as well marbled and flavorful as his dad's. Have been suspecting that generally the person paying for dinner gets a superior dish ..
