Had such a wonderful experience at Alexander's. Went in on a Saturday for the gfs birthday and they treated us like royalty. Molly was our server and she took excellent care of us.
Every course was amazing but the standouts for me were the hamachi, bao, tagliatelle, and of course the Gifu Hidagyu A5. Wine pairings we outstanding as well.
Best steakhouse in the Bay Area, hands down. Service is great, steaks are incredible. Open your wallet, because it’s not cheap, but the quality you get is well worth it.
Good service and food
It’s so hard to rationalize $27 mashed potatoes. Great $100 steak? Ok. $17 fries? Hmm. $25 drinks? Expected. $6 for a tiny shot glass of sashimi and sauce? I don’t know. It was good. Service was good. But it’s not warm and welcoming enough for a special occasion place that can rationalize the costs.
Being a supposedly high end restaurant they’re not very accommodating. I went with my family and my two babies. My son was sick they day so we requested for soup of some bone broth or so as most high end places we’ve been to have accommodated us in the past. Yet they did not. They sat us near the front door on a cold day which was very uncomfortable when you have two kids. The food was nothing special. Worst part was I was looking forward to the hamachi shots as I get it at every alexanders I’ve gone to, this sf location taste the worst! It was completely bland. And our waiter was a jerk.
We (6 people) were placed in private dining room section, but seated with sub par folding table, not the wooden one, which became available during service. Food was sadly just okay, given the prices of food. Service was excellent, but overall experience did not meet expectations.
Food and service is always amazing here.
Excellent service, wine list, and menu.
Strip steak was spot on.
Food orders were delivered promptly.
Overpriced, food was not impressive. Steak ordered came out rare, ordered medium rare. Unfortunate for well renowned steak house!
Don't get me wrong, this steakhouse is one of the neatest and most informational type of dining I've experienced. They were able to accommodate my table especially since they were running late, and we greatly appreciated it. The only downside was the wait for our food. We were there from 7:45 pm or 8:00 PM, we did not leave the restaurant till 11:30 PM. I understand that the quality of the food was great. It was just my party was stuck and hungry, it felt as though we were waiting an hour each course. And the food was not warm enough even if they were serving it at the same time as everyone else. Long story short, food is great but only if you are willing to wait super long for it.
From the moment we stepped in the door, we received exemplary service. The food is always amazing here and is my favorite place to dine whenever I visit the city. I love ordering the Uni toast as an appetizer. It had beef brisket on it in my past visits, but they changed it up this time and had wagyu on it, which was even more delicious. Since white truffles are in season, I was so happy to see white truffle tagliatelle on the menu. My tastebuds were in heaven. I usually order wagyu steak for my main, but opted for non-wagyu ribeye this time and was very satisfied. ALL of the staff we encountered were super friendly and accommodating. I’m nursing right now and had my pump and cooler with me. They ladies at the door gave me a private place to pump downstairs, when I was about to head up to the regular bathroom. I LOVE this restaurant and will continue to visit whenever I’m in town.
Absolutely incredible service. Total team effort and well done!!
Great bartenders .
It was tough to get food items fro an eight year old
We wanted a special evening to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and Alexander’s Steakhouse did not disappoint. Excellent tasting menu, excellent service, and excellent ambiance.
Alexander's steakhouse is simply not worth the money. Both my wife's steak and my steak had a lot of gristle, making the steak hard to cut. She ordered her steak medium rare and it came out very rare. The flavor of the steaks were fine if I was paying $40. For $100+ price point, they should get it right. Our waitress was very good but one guy was very intrusive in the way he cleared things from the table, never asking if it was okay and never saying excuse me or anything else. He seemed so focused on clearing, he didn't see the patrons.
The worst service, very expensive, not so good food, the manager with a bad attitude, I’ll never recommend this place.
Everything was perfect is always at Alexander’s.
Great service. The staff was lovely and really made the night special for me and my date.
It was My Daughter’s birthday celebration, from the time we arrived until we finished, it was all so amazing.
This was our first visit and it wont be the last.
All the entrees from A5s to the porterhouse and the desserts were so delicious.
The staff was very friendly and helpful.
The ambience was private and relaxed.
See you again..
We went to celebrate a birthday. It was outstanding. My sister said it was the best steak she ever had. My fish was delicious. We ordered the sushi shots as an appetizer. Definitely a must! The pina colada cotton candy at the end is fun. It was expensive but worth every penny!
We went to celebrate our son's birthday and had the 5 course tasting menu. The price is fair compared to other prefix courses. We even ordered extra hamachi shots because it was so good.
We enjoy dining at the Cupertino Alexander’s, so we were expecting the same level of quality and service. Sadly, this is not the case. Overpriced for the average food - there are so many other wonderful restaurant choices in San Francisco.
Best ribeye steak I ever had in my life!! Definitely will recommend coming here! Very friendly staff and awesome desserts!
The restaurant was very nice with highly quality food, excellent service and delicious food.
Great food and service!
Excellent experience. Can’t wait to go back.
Best steak we’ve had in the city; service was great
I chose tasting menu. The steak was amazing, but other courses were really sub par for the price point, especially the appetizer.
Great time however, a customer was allowed to come in with a dog and it walked over the seats etc. I don’t agree with allowing dogs in a restaurant of this caliber, unless a seeing eye dog which this wasn’t.
The Ribeye was juicy, perfectly-cooked, and flavorful, and my friend’s filet was the best steak he’d ever had and he loved it so much he wanted one to take home.
The complimentary cotton candy was a nice finish to dinner. The service that I received was attentive and pleasant if not a tad over-the-top.
My friend’s sea bass could’ve fit in her pocket and there was nothing special about it.
They virtually ignored her the entire time in favor of deferring to me on literally everything, which was odd and felt disrespectful. I’m not sure if this is general practice and we weren’t in the loop, but it shouldn’t be.
All in all, definitely great for steak as always, but other options aren’t that great and the service is sort of peculiar.
If you’re there a little early they’ll try to seat you closer to your reservation time. The restroom is upstairs but everyone was really friendly and helpful. And the food was great.
excellent food. excellent suggestions by the waiter. excellent service. all around an excellent experience. will definitely return.
We had a nice time. But for all the service people, I am not sure why it took over 15 minutes to get my cocktail which was just a simple martini. Enjoyed the food but not sure I would pay full price.
Some of the nicest steaks we've had in SF. Very friendly staff
Sublime - chef’s five course tasting menu with wine pairing. Does not get much better than this!
Really enjoyed the food and ambiance.
