This was one of the best dining experiences of my life, and I eat at a ton of great restaurants. From the food to the service, this was too notch from beginning to end. It was an amazing meal and the steak is the best that I’ve had in as long as I can remember. Thank you so much for the fantastic dinner!

Outstanding food and service. Pricey but we'll worth the very occasionally special event. They went the extra mile for us.

if your first visit, i highly recommend the Chef's Tasting menu...i thought the portions were generous and a good way to sample items even though there may be an items YOU THINK you might not like.

I'm not a big scallops person and my friends are not a fan of raw fish (hamachi) but after trying Alexander's version from the tasting menu, we can now appreciate scallops and the sashimi! Scallops were perfectly cooked and prepared and the hamachi and a variety of textures/flavors that was enjoyed.
This tasting will be about a 2.5 hour dining experience.

Pricing is high but worth the splurge....from the service, food and ambiance....definitely, try something different and enjoy without worrying about cost for an evening!

First time at Alexander’s. Food is incredible, and service was outstanding. It’s very expensive but worth it for a special occasion.

My waiter was very rude and non existent during my service. He checked in with us once before we could even take a bite of our food and asked how it was. He was upbeat for the rest of the tables he serviced but ours. We were clearly the youngest people there and did not fit in with the crowd and I believe that was something he took into account when it should not have mattered.

Waiters talk too much and were condescending. Meat came out raw even though we requested medium. Epic is better.

Great food but for $500 for tasting menu plus one bottle of the (almost) least expensive wine, not really worth it. Can get a meal as good for half the price.

Every time we visit Alexander's the food and service is excellent. This time was not different with server Nathan Truell. And we want to give special thanks to sommelier Sean Widger, who - despite not having on the menu any more - provided us exceptional wine pairing to the chef's tasting menu.

This was a birthday celebration. We were given complementary champagne. The service was impeccable- friendly, knowledgeable, prompt! The food was out of this world- I feel like I was eating steak for the first time- it was that good! Worth the high price.

A simply incredible dining experience. I called ahead to let the restaurant know we were getting engaged before we came & Alexander's went above and beyond to make it a truly memorable evening. On the food side of things, everything was absolutely delicious - probably the best steak I've had in SF to date.

Alexander's knows their beef. My wife and I went for our anniversary and were treated to a first class dining experience.

First and foremost, the food was exquisite. We got the Australian beef cheek, ribeye, and the A5 Kumamoto wagyu, as well as the 7 spice (sushimi?) fries that all were memorable. The flavors, meat tenderness, and presentation were all top notch: There were multiple personal touches that made for a memorable night.

This was also the most expensive meal we've ever had, probably by a longshot. We have zero regrets and plan on returning, but just be forewarned so you don't get the same sticker shock we did!

Great dinner and service!

However, we went the day AFTER Valentine’s Day and it turned out that the restaurant was still on a dramatically reduced ‘holiday’ menu, so many of the dishes we wanted were not available. There was nothing on the reservation to indicate this would be the case, so we were disappointed about this.

We tried the Valentines’ day tasting menu, overall it’s great except the course came too slow. We wait for over 30 mins for a course, and it took us 2hours from the first course to the main course. We cannot waste more time so we have the rest food to go.

We were here for Valentine’s Day dinner. Kind of strange we didn’t get seated right away but people behind us did. We were told to hang out at the lounge first and I’m sure the tables were ready. How do they prioritize seating in terms of what?! But overall service 5 star.

My husband took me for my birthday which we now both regret it. First off our server rushed us to order cocktails, dinner, and then continued to try and up-sale us and to top it off he forgot two of our items; really? Not even a birthday dessert; where’s my birthday dessert? Lol
There are plenty of excellent steakhouses in the Bay Area that surpass Alexander’s with impractical service.
