Alexander's Craft Cocktails and Kitchen was named after the distillery located on the grounds from 1861-1865, which washed away in a flood (historic marker located between the restaurant & The Manor).

The newly renovated main bar is located on 1st floor, and opens onto expansive wrap-around, creekside porches. Just a few steps down from the porches is an open deck situated beneath gracious Live Oak canopies.

The warm aubergine & copper walls of the third floor lounge contrast the amazing art representation from local galleries. The stunning view of Salado Creek as well as the grounds of the neighboring estate provide the perfect spot to enjoy your favorite beverage. Patrons choose from a variety of entree selections, appetizers, and adult beverages.

    Great food & drinks. Waitress initially wasn’t helpful- but did better as the dinner progressed. Drafty seating. Very loud guest in our dining room!!! Pricey. Recommend dining here if you can afford $50+ per person. .

    It was a wonderful evening. We had been to Alexanders in the past and invited friends to go with us. They had not been. We all loved the food, the service and the atmosphere. It is one of our favorites.

    This place is simply amazing all around!! The best food and atmosphere and I even loved the little kitty that was hanging around with all the other wildlife. Great caring people that truly care about the service and food they offer.

    I was hoping this would be a great experience, but the food was good, but not much more above average. The kitchen had serious issues, getting food out in a timely manner. Our waitress was harried, very friendly, but covering too many tables. I was disappointed overall in the food, even though it all tasted “fine”.

    We celebrated my sister’s birthday at this fine restaurant. The food was delicious as were the cocktails. There was little mention of the birthday even though we let them know ahead of time of the special occasion.

    First time going here. Overall a mediocre experience. I’ll try to go item by item. Service: Server was very pleasant. She did a great job of being attentive but not overly so. My wife and so both enjoyed her. Drinks: My wife ordered a Pinot Grigio. She said it was pretty good, but the pour was pretty small. I’d say maybe 2/3rds the size of a “normal” pour. I ordered one of their “signature” drinks. A tequila drink that I think was mainly mix. I didn’t even taste alcohol in it. I was pretty disappointed in it. Appetizer: We ordered the lobster Mac n cheese. It was delicious! Made with a nice, sharp cheddar. I don’t know about their claim of a “whole” lobster tail, but we didn’t mind. Recommend Main course: My wife loved her salmon. She said it was cooked just the way she liked. I ordered the tenderloin and asked for it to be cooked medium. There was ZERO pink in it. VERY disappointed that. $50 steak was cooked so poorly. With that being said, the cut of meat itself was very tender so it made up for it. Had we not had another engagement afterwards, I would have sent it back. Dessert: We split a crème brûlée. Both of us thought it was delicious. Not the best we’ve ever had, but definitely very good. Overall: Happy with the service and some of the dishes. For $200, we will probably keep trying other places.

    Usually my go to when I want to treat myself but they were definitely off their game this visit. Service at the bar was friendly as usual but my food (lobster Mac and cheese) arrived cold. What was described as a lobster tail laying over the fish ended up being chopped up pieces you could barely discern from the Mac. My crème brûlée was not set and I had to get another one; both of these seemingly had the tops set fire to rather than toasted. Rather disappointed.

    Apparently, Tuesday is a prix fixe dinner night, so the place was very busy. It was quite noisy outside, and our waitress had a hard time keeping up with all her tables. One of our meals was very good (ribeye), and one was poor (shrimp & grits). The shrimp and grits arrived almost cold, but we chose not to return it because things were too busy, and we didn't want to wait for a re-do. FYI, we really liked the previous shrimp and grits recipe at Alexanders, but the new Creole style is not nearly as good.

    We decided on the spur of the moment to make a reservation and were surprised that we could get in close to the time we were hoping for. We had heard from friends that their nightly special was really good so we both decided on that! It was more than really good! it was fabulous!! We ate out on the back porch overlooking the creek. It was so peaceful and quiet. We watched a blue heron fish in the creek and then deer came to get a drink before bedding down for the night. The special included a glass of wine and dessert. Needless to say, we were quite full when we left. No one hurried us to leave and allowed us to enjoy our time on the porch. Lovely evening and we are already planning our next dinner on the porch!!

    The Prix Fixe menu in a Tuesday is great value but be sure to book an early dining time as the quantities are limited! We have been many times and over the last 5 years never been disappointed with the food. Service is occasionally slower than desired, but otherwise very good.

    First time eating here, surprised by the serene location. Although hot, I sat outside as is my usual preference. Enjoyed the stream flowing by, watching birds and nature, and the quiet. Service was great. The food was delicious, I ordered the tenderloin and a glass of Malbec. My only small negative contact is that I ordered the tenderloin rare but it came out medium rare. This is not usually bothersome to me but may be to someone more particular. I would definitely go back.

    Lovely old victorian home on a creek. It was nice inside but they could really use some decorating help to brighten up the main dining room. My filet was a 4.5. The only reason I didn't rate it a five is that even though it was cooked perfectly inside, it wasn't seared on the outside. The accompaning mashed purple potatoes and baby zucchini were excellent. Husband said he has never had better Salmon. I ordered a manhattan with house bourbon and they charged $17.00. There are no prices on the drink menu so there is no way to know what their drinks cost. I would have selected something else had I known. I can't wait to go back there when it is cooler so we can enjoy the outside lawn and wrap around patio.

    This is a great place. I can always expect high quality food and service at a great price. Their Tuesday one price menus are an amazing value. We had a fine dining dinner for two with an appetizer and dessert for 57.00.

    Food and service was excellent. Atmosphere was very good for a one on one music was at just the right level not to interfere with your conversations if it wasn't for a noise table behind us it would of been perfect. Meals were a little pricey but I suppose that's the the price you have to pay to have a relaxing dinner without competing with five sport channels and a rowdy crowd.

    My husband and I went a Alexander’s for a romantic date night, intending to splurge. We both regret going, as it was an absolute waste of a lot of money and not enjoyable at all because of the frustrations with the food and service. Our waitress was a sweet girl, but I think she was probably overwhelmed with tables and probably forgot about us after she gave us our food. If I’m spending $200 on one meal for two people, I expect great service. Our first cocktails were a long wait and just ok, not worth ever ordering again, and tried to find something better. Asked if they could do a traditional bees knees, which came after a very, very long wait with our entrees and then was the worst bees knees I’ve ever had (and I order it as often as possible). We know they had been done for a while because my husband’s mexican martini was warm, which tasted absolutely nothing like a Mexican martini and was undrinkable, and he will drink just about anything. Beet salad was also worst I’ve ever had. Extremely dry and hard to eat. Waitress didn’t come back so I couldn’t ask her for any dressing for it, so, after a while, we just ate it with the bread olive oil on the table since we were paying. My husbands steak was actually cooked perfectly, but it had no flavor beyond the good butter, and it was extremely chewy which we found odd because it was not over cooked. It wasn’t worth the effort it took to chew it. Potato was average. My salmon was the only good thing and the only reason I gave two stars instead of one. We were never asked how any of our food was or I would’ve been honest. Our drinks came back to back with our entrées, and after that we never saw our waitress again until after we were done and waiting a while, I asked the hostess to find her so we could pay. At that time I told her our last two drinks were undrinkable and requested they be taken off the bill, and she did that, at least. Had she come sooner I would’ve appreciated a remake instead.

    We eat here several times per year and live locally. They have done a good job retaining servers and staff and they do a great job. Bar is good and food is very acceptable but nothing ‘fancy’. Good date night spot.
