Always a great meal. Comfort food old school Italian style!
Excelente almuerzo con mis hijos
It was just a bit expensive for the experience. We weren't served water or greeted by our server for about 20 minutes. I'm sure she was busy, but still. The good was good but a little overpriced.
I hadn’t been to Alessa in about 5 years. I have many good dining memories from living in laguna. I returned excited to share the experience with my husband who had never been. We enjoyed the wine and appetizers. When it came to my main dish I made a point to be very careful in ordering as I am allergic to shellfish and sensitive to gluten. I chose the gluten free penne with a simple red sauce. About halfway through my meal I discovered an unbreaded squid leg. I quickly notified a wait staff and they apologized and offered to remake the dish. I appreciated that they made it fresh but it took about 15 minutes and in that time period my throat and tongue started to swell in reaction to shellfish contamination in my dish. My husband had finished his meal and ran to the car to get Benadryl and my epipen. I wasn’t terribly hungry by the time it arrived as the swelling was bothering me. I asked to have my dish boxed up to take home, it was quite good minus the allergic reaction! We appreciated the wait staff and their responsiveness and gave more than a 20% tip as a representation of that. We were a little disappointed in the experience, but even more disappointed when we opened our leftovers to discover they had only packaged about a cup of the leftover meal, which was a mostly untouched huge plate of penne pasta. It made for an OK snack but I was pretty disappointed that after all that I never got to enjoy a full dish. I am hesitant to go back.
Always enjoy our food and experience at Alessa
Best Meatballs ever!!!
We always come back but service was a bit slow and not responsive. Otherwise we love to come.
My gals birthday
Loud and crowded... but in a good way. Chef Pirozzi (I’m assuming) was active in the dining room. Greeting guests, helping waiters, creating good vibes despite the mayhem. Peaceful candlelight dinner this is not... and I would definitely go again. Oh yeah, great pasta.
Great food! I had healthy salmon pasta dish (that’s what is was called). And it was terrific!
The staff is very nice and accommodating. We were a few minutes late and when I called they said “no problem”. They sat us right away. The server was timely with everything. Didn’t make us wait to come ask if we wanted drinks. Had the appetizers right out and then the meals. Everyone’s dish was very good. Pasta tasted fresh.
The place is crowded and very loud. We were seated toward the back of the restaurant which seemed to be the loudest spot. I’d go back but I’d try to sit outside.
Had to chase server. Wasn’t told how much a small side of artichokes were. Should have been told. Nothing was done for bday. Appetizer arrived late and food served at same time.
Great food, service and European feeling. Loved it!
Busy, good Italian but the service brought it down a level.
Mediocre food, sky high prices. Worst tiramisu I’ve ever had
Excellent food and service as always!
The food was mediocre this time nothing like my previous visits. Service was lacking and bread served cold.
I would recommend with the caution that the ambience is poor. The food is good but not great.
Calamari was poor and not light, heavily breaded. August is peak tomato season however, the tomatoes were tasteless as a part of the capresse salad. Service was very good.
a little expensive for pasta, but a large selection
Best spaghetti ever 👌🏼
We had a nice dinner. Served by Jayde, young woman from NY with the best NY accent, took good care of us and quipped with pleasant conversation. Excellent food and service overall.
Not family friendly unfortunately. I got the distinct feeling we were in the way. The menu doesn’t offer children options. The food was great but I honestly couldn’t wait to leave. Watched every table around us get offered bread for example, not us. The rest of the family basically left while I stayed to pay because the service avoided us.
The food was good, but our waiter was very unpleasant. He seemed to almost intentionally be difficult. It was a very disappointing experience. I would not recommend it at all due to the waiter’s attitude.
Service wasn’t good. It took a long time for someone to come and greet us along with the people sitting right next to us.
We ordered drinks and took about 20 minutes to get them. Food was ok. Not the best Italian food but good.
Allessa’s restaurant was amazing! Food service, ambiance were tops. It was great to dine there with the front of the rsstaurant complely open to fresh air on a beautiful day.
Slow service. Told us a half hour after we ordered that our pasta was not available.
Just okay. Very noisy and packed. Overpriced for pasta.
Got in at 6 lucky because it started filling up soon after. No complaints about the food but wine was very pricey. Also they did not have the cheesescake
All deserts e dn ice cream was $12, which was pricey as well
We love the food here. Usually we chose bar seating. This past visit it seemed very short staffed. The bartender was also waiting tables. The service was subpar yet usually very good.
We had three starving 11 year old girls post surf camp and we needed comfort food in a happy place. We ordered simple, Caesar salads, pasta marinara, carbonara (not on the menu, made to request) gnocchi vodka sauce, linguini con Pepe. Mom and Dad had martinis and Chianti, a few fried olives and octopus/salmon carpaccio. We literally fought over what was the best. One of of girls was so tired and hungry she literally did not smile until the pasta was put in front of her. The service was crisp yet friendly and comfortable with a smile. Alessa is the best. The only issue is that it gets loud inside, a tiny price to pay for a deservingly poplar restaurant.
We were made to wait 45 min after having a reservation. Food was served after 1 and a half hours of ordering. Pasta that was eventually served was not properly cooked.
The dish was still charged inspite of my returning it right away.
The server was very polite and apologetic for the poor experience. But we felt disappointed and dissatisfied after paying so much for substandard food
Service was not good. Kitchen was backed up and we had to wait a long time for our meals.
We have enjoyed this restaurant in the past. This time it was before the Pageant of the Masters and it was very busy. We ordered the bruschetta, spicy spaghetti with meatballs, goat cheese salad, fried olives, and wine. All the food came at one time. The goat cheese salad tasted ok, but goat cheese was hard to find in a somewhat expensive salad. The bruschetta came with a pizza crust, and the tomato/garlic spread did not taste good so we didn’t finish it. The other items tasted ok, nothing special. Overall the items cost about twice what other restaurants would charge for similar items. I might give it one more try based on past experience, but not during the pageant season.
We used to love to eat here but quality has changed.
Used to love warm sea food salad over
Delicious homemade pasta!!! Any pasta enthusiast will love it!
Great location in downtown Laguna and one of our favorite restaurants. The food is amazing, you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. The service is wonderful as well. It is always busy in the evenings, so I would definitely reserve a table in advance.
Cool place for lunch or dinner right off of Main Beach.
Came here with friends to celebrate my birthday and everything was fine to start. Then the food came extremely slowly. Our waitress was not very nice and seemed rather snappy all evening. Then we were told to “pick out a birthday desert” so we did and ended up being charged for it because “In fine dining, we do not give away complimentary deserts for birthdays.”
I’ve had numerous dinners at Mastro’s and Andrea at Pelican Hill for birthdays and they without a doubt bring out a complimentary desert for special occasions, so if this is considered fine dining and a normal practice, I for sure will not be back along with everyone else and our families who recommended this place.
Very crowded which definitely impacted service. Food good, but felt rushed. I would recommend going after summer!!
The kale salad was disappointing - leaves too large and course. The Gouda cheese starter was too small. The wine was good.
