“One of the best Italian restaurants in America” / "The wine list at Aldo's is exemplary, easily one of the best on the east coast” / “This is clearly a labor of familial love, and it shows in every dish" -- John Mariani (of Esquire Magazine)

Aldo's Ratings and Reviews
Wonderful as usual, but I think you should take another look at the recipe for the escargot appetizer, which was not very tasty. In fact, we put in for 3 orders for our table of 6 and none of us liked the way it was prepared. This is coming from all of us who have had it elsewhere and were thrilled to see it on the menu. Just a thought.
The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was just wonderful. Not crowded even at 8 on a Friday night and it was lively without being loud... and very romantic. And the place is very reasonably priced — especially for the setting. We had two appetizers ( escargot and shrimp scampi), a 1/2 entree of rigatoni and vodka sauce, a full entree of another Italian sausage pasta dish plus two espressos and a bottle of wine. Though I admit I didn’t care for my entree it was a matter of taste — i tried something new (orecchiette pasta broccoli rabe and Italian sausage) and just didn’t care for it — the experience, service, and preparation all seemed fantatsic. My date and I had a lovely evening. My only gripe is the price of the wine. The single bottle of Chianti was as much as the entire rest of our meal and it was the least expensive Chianti they served at $70/ bottle, $14/glass. And it was a bit too dry for my taste, to boot. I can only guess that they serve the food at cost and make profit off of wine. I would prefer to have paid a little more for the food and been able to enjoy a reasonably priced house Chianti. Italian restaurants are literally the only place that I ever drink wine and then it’s only Chianti.
That said: I wouldn’t hesitate to go there again I just think I’ll save the drinking for the previous or next stop on the date that evening. Very highly recommended!
We arrived at 7:30 PM. Served at 8:45 following several inquiries as related to the status of our orders.
Food was good & hot. Our bill was Excessive (my Bronzino - $42.00, 2 glasses of wine $28.00 for example).
It had been years since we had been here, and who knows if /when we will return.
Not happy GG
We went for my wife's birthday dinner and we were a bit disappointed. My wife had a caesar salad and the fettuccine, sous-vide petite Maine lobster tail: she said it was very good but did not rave about it. I had the eggplant parmigiano appetizer, the shrimp bisque, and the 8 oz prime filet with roasted Bermuda Onions and creamy gorgonzola polenta. The eggplant was excellent and the bisque tasted scorched. The steak was average at best and I have a hard time believing it was grade Prime. The service was good initially with the waiter being very attentive but as more people arrived it seemed as if he forgot about us on occasion. We ordered lattes and desert after our main course. After several minutes the lattes were delivered- luke- warm as if they had been sitting and forgotten. The desert arrived at least 15 minutes after the lattes. At these prices, there are many very good options and I cannot recommend Aldo's.
The service: Top notch!
The location: Awesome!
The food: overall it was good, but not great, due to hit & miss dishes. The escargot was bland, the mushroom rissoto was excellent, the linguini & clams was excellent (favorite dish of the night), the fish special was really good, the lobster rissoto was tomato based & pretty bad (we left almost all of it on the plate), the chicken marsala was so so because some pieces of the chicken were overcooked but the sauce was good.
Adored it. Every dish was just thought out so well. Linguine and clams are my go-to test of an Italian place, because it's so easy to get right or wrong, and this was the best version I've ever had. Like ever. The clams were shelled and fresh and there were like 50 of them. The garlic looked like it was gently slivered by fairies with OCD. They had rose in November and didn't even give me a side eye for ordering a glass. My companion's bolognese was terrifically on point. The vinaigrette for the salad had just the right kiss of allium. The bread was so perfectly toothsome. They even had Frangelico at the bar. They don't have a kids' menu, but tolerate kids, which is as it should be. If you're old enough to go here, you're old enough to eat real food.
So happy OpenTable helped me discover this place!
As aways our request for a particular table was honored. We had a wonderful meal. There was only one criticism of the evening and thar.at came at the end of the meal when we ordered coffee and a drink. There was a very long wait and then the expresso had neither a lemon peel nor sugar. Certainly a minor complaint and it could have been easily rectified. parking is always a problem and the charge of $10 is a bit high, with the expectation of a tip as well. That is not a charge by the restaurant however (I assume). Minor flaws in the otherwise perfect evening.
I had found this restaurant on Trip Advisor when I was looking for a good Italian restaurant on a visit to Baltimore with my girlfriend. It was a wonderful find. Nestled in among other restaurants in the Little Italy section of Baltimore, this place was wonderful. Promptly seated on the side dining room on the lower level we asked to have our seats moved because it was a bit warm and a bit noisy and by good fortune they moved up upstairs along the balcony. You would expect the upstairs to be noisier and warmer, but that was not the case. We ended up with a nice and quiet dinner for two. And the food was excellent. My girlfriend and I split the Caesar salad to start (she likes anchovies, I don't and they split it in the kitchen) and it was very good and very fresh. We then shared one of the small plate pastas as an appetizer (Orecchiette Pasta with sausage) and it was spectacular. My girlfriend had the Branzino in a lemon sauce and I had the Veal Franchese which was spectacular with a very large portion. For dessert we shared the crème brulee. All in all an spectacular meal. If I have one thing that I would ask them to change, though they have an extensive wine list, they have a very limited wine by the glass selection. With my girlfriend liking white wine and I red, this presented a bit of a problem. How nice it would have been to have had a Super Tuscan or Barrasso to choose from .
I'm not sure that I've ever had more bland Italian food ever. I could never recommend this restaurant. I'm not a millennial. I've traveled for the better part of my 60 years and am not a food snob but this was truly a bad experience.
Aldo’s was great. Definitely recommend going here, if you’re willing to pay a generous amount. We were a party of 4, all got appetizers and entrees and the bill was in the $500 ballpark not including tip. That being said, the food was really top notch. What was even better is that all of our needs were met. My daughter didn’t feel well, and Advil was provided. The air conditioning was blowing a little too hard over the table and staff lowered it. My husband can’t eat tomatoes so they were put on the side when requested.
Overall, really excellent meal, just pricey.
Aldo's is one of our favorite restaurants! The food is consistently prepared to perfection and the service is outstanding. Robert and Rick took care of our every need. It was the perfect place to celebrate our anniversary. Be sure to order the house made Limoncello. It's the perfect ending to a perfect meal.
Aldo’s is the best Italian restaurant in Little Italy. The food is delicious and perfectly done, the service is elegant and polite, and the restaurant is attractive, especially the second floor, where Intimate conversation, food and wine go together. I hope there will always be a Little Italy in Baltimore, and that Aldo’s will be the crown jewel of it.
The best anniversary dinner we could ever imagine. They hooked us up with special drinks for our anniversary and treated us like family. A true Italian restaurant. Aldo came to our table to wish us a happy anniversary. They made the night special for us. Food was amazing, we had surf and turf. The steak was seasoned/marinated perfectly. The crab cakes were the best I've had all year. All of it was amazing.
We have visited Baltimore many times and have dined at Aldo's on several occasions. Whether we were with our college-aged children, or if it was just the two of us, the food and service have always been impeccable. This last visit was just my husband and I. We enjoyed a lovely meal, where they accommodated dietary requests, and we could enjoy a conversation. After attending a show, we returned to share some prosecco at the bar. The owner and staff are very welcoming, and made us feel right at home. We would recommend completely-food, ambiance, and staff are wonderful!
I am a first generation Italian American and I was absolutely blown away by the food at Aldos. There aren't words or adjectives to describe both the level of service I was provided and the quality of the food. This is a full farm to table restauraunt In every sense of the phrase. The food tastes like it was made by an Italian grandmother in Florence adding love to every bite. I highly recommend this restauraunt to everyone and would make the 3 hour trip from NJ just to have a bowl of pasta at Aldos. il cibo era magnifico!
Aldos is one of our favorites and we have eaten there quite a few times. Usually the service is amazing but this time not so much. It took a very long time for our waiter to take our order even though we indicated we were ready. He walked by our table numerous times and we finally had to ask him to take our order. It was equally difficult to get our bill when we were ready to leave. The service was just not what we have experienced in the past. The food was wonderful as always.
I was quite disappointed with this meal. The appetizer, salad, and entree that I ordered were all nearly inedible. The salad was so overdressed that the dressing was pooling on the plate, and the pasta was unbelievably salty. The only positive from the meal was the bolongnese sauce that accompanied my husband's entree. Otherwise, we were unbelievably disappointed and the meal was completely overpriced. We could have gone to so many other places in Little Italy for far less, and actually had delicious, authentic food.
We spent the night in Baltimore with friends over Labor Day weekend. It was such a lovely surprise to see how much the city has built up its waterfront. Our meal at Aldo's was really fabulous on many levels. We couldn't have enjoyed it anymore. The service, wine, atmosphere, bread, salads, meal and desserts were wonderfully tasty and beautifully served. Well done! We'll definitely be returning. Thank you!
