   Poor afternoon tea experience overall, no menu or napkins on the table, no water. The bread was stale, the coffee was cold and the reception we received when arriving was terrible, would not recommend at all.

   We had a lovely meal, the food was delicious, the service was impeccable and we will definitely return. We ate at 5pm on a Saturday evening and it was very quiet, so we could have conversation easily. Very enjoyable.

   Mother’s day lunch with my husband, two daughters, granddaughter and son-in-law. Set menu €37.50 for 3 courses with coffee and a complementary Bellini for the Mothers. I was very impressed with the food, my starter of pate was served on toasted brioche was very good. main was slow roast beef, mash, roasties Yorkies and veg were all cooked well, piping hot and delicious, the beef was very tender and flavourful, apple crumble and ice cream was of a good standard. 5 x 3 courses menus, 1 child’s menu, a glass of wine. 3 beers, soft drinks and orange juice, the bill came to €210 which was very good value. I would definitely recommend.

   Unfortunately we were waiting 1 hour and 15 minutes for 2 Pizzas and 1 fish and chips. The staff could not tell us when it would be ready so we left. It was St Patrick's day so understandably busy and this is why we made a booking. We had a starving 5 year old si we went and got a take away. They had a lot of staff on the floor but obviously no staff in the kitchen. We were regulars of the Alder cafe and always enjoyed it but now because of that experience I doubt we will return. They should employ more staff on busy days or don't take in as many customers and they can't handle it.

   Staff very courteous My husbands starter was cold And main he had fish but was more batter then fish inside . Restaurant itself lovely ambience and clean .

   Visited yesterday and it's my 4th - 5th time here. Has a nice ambiance but can be a bit quiet. Service is very good. Was a little disappointed with my choice. I ordered the curry with chicken but there was not much chicken in it. My friend ordered the fish and chips but said the fish was not fresh ( like it had been frozen ) and it was the same last time they ordered it. I do like it here but would have to reconsider before visiting again or recommending for food...

   Lovely relaxed venue, good menu nicely cooked and presented. Staff very friendly and helpful. Would like to see half bottles of wine added to menu.

    We are regulars at The Alder so we weren't surprised that the Festive Afternoon Tea was fantastic. There was plenty of food, the layout was lovely and the staff are all fantastic.
