Alden and Harlow
While reservations are strongly suggested, we also save a portion of the dining room and bar for walk-ins in the event that your request cannot be accommodated. So please, come on in!
Parties of more than 8, please call to make a reservation.
One of the best, no wait, the best brunch I’ve ever had.
Phenomenal experience at Alden and Harlow. Our server was kind, informative, and engaging. Food and wine were fantastic.
Extremely noisy. Difficulty to hear even at a table for 2 people.
Incredible service from ALL staff. Worthy of Harvard proximity.
Our food and server were so good we went back a second night in s row while we were in town! A must try!
Great place, excellent cocktails and the food is very good!! Great value also!
The food was beyond amazing and the service was also exemplary. My daughter has a severe nut allergy and Hannah not only went out of her way to mark up the menu for what she could/could not eat - she also made suggestions and made sure that each dish was well marked. We enjoyed our meal to the hilt and will be back soon!
Always great food, drinks and service! Best in Boston and Cambridge.
Service was amazing, the food was mixed - highlights were the pancakes, the brussels sprouts and the lamb belly - but the prices are very extreme - I have never seen Brussels sprouts priced at $15 and the portion was quite small - it’s a high priced small plate set up - with a drink you will spend $50 a person and I’m not sure it is a $50 per person level place. The dessert was terrible, the pound cake was dry and flavorless.
Alden and Harlow is a good restaurant but the food was hit and miss for us. Out of the 5 small plates we ordered, 3 of them were good and 2 were so so. Flavours in some cases were were over powering with the main ingredients of the dish.
The food combinations for the small plates were just plain weird. Nothing looked appetizing whatsoever. Because we had no place else to go on a Friday night, we ordered anyway. New York was quite tasty. All of the other small plates worked way too hard at combining odd ingredients together. I kept trying small plates hoping I would find something I liked. The chips with sour cream dip (a staple from the 1950) were the only things that tasted good. Just too weird
Poor lighting in dining area.
Really great food, interesting options, and very good portions for the price. Definitely worth trying.
Perfect as always! Cocktails, Food, Dessert, Service, Ambience consistently top notch!
Very attentive service, along with creative, and delicious dishes made for an excellent birthday celebration. Our party of six loved everything!
The restaurant was excellent, but OpenTable decided, in their wisdom, to "cancel" my reservation - AFTER I had already confirmed I was going. This was done literally a few hours before the reservation. To say this was completely inappropriate is an understatement. I sure would like to know "why"??? And if I hadn't seen it in my inbox, we would have arrived, with no reservation. The restaurant was extremely gracious in accommodating us. But OpenTable ... shame shame!
Such a great atmosphere and amazing food - definitely try the chicken liver mousse & chicken-friend rabbit !
Great service, interesting food and well prepared. Tired of overpriced wine lists. Charging $50 for a bottle they buy wholesale for 15 and pulling the cork seems ridiculous. Not done in Europe.
This place makes a pretty good case for the best dining experience in Boston. I've lived in the area for about 2.5 years, and there is no shortage of phenomenal places to eat, but Alden and Harlow is legitimately spectacular.
It's tapas style, but you never feel shorted on portions. Whatever you select off the entree board is substantial and can absolutely be shared between two people. For a place that's highly inventive and elaborate with their ingredients, they do a fantastic job of providing all that flavor at volume, something that most expensive dining experiences often shy away from.
On top of that, their menu is extremely versatile and accommodating for all walks of life. If you are vegan/vegetarian/pescatarian/gluten-free/etc. I am confident you will find at least two things on the menu you adore here. Another way to put it: if you were in Boston for one day and made the commitment to spotlight one place to eat for every meal, this place would be an excellent choice. You should go for brunch, lunch, dinner, and their kitchen stays open until midnight, so go for a late feast then as well. It doesn't matter if you are by yourself or with a group of several people, the drinks, appetizers, mains, and desserts will keep everyone giddy.
The food aside, their restaurant is also an objectively cool space. You walk to a subterranean bar in Harvard Square and it continues to sprawl out the deeper you continue into the seating area. There's a ton of stone, perfect lighting, the right amount of lively crowd noise. This place is the real deal in every way.
Great food and service! We’ve been there many times and plan to return.
The food is mediocre at best and the prices are outrageous. If I'm paying a lot for a small plate, I expect the food to be top notch but everything was bland or cold by the time it got to our table. On top of that, the wines by the glass were overpriced. I paid more than double the amount for a glass of wine at this restaurant than what an entire bottle of that wine costs in a store. The other person in my party ordered sparkling wine and it was flat. Overall, not impressed. I would not recommend this restaurant.
The service was amazing, but the plates were very small, and around $17 each. The food was very eclectic.
Really enjoyed this experience - since it's a small plates format, I got to try so many things and really felt that it was a great value. Every single dish was executed perfectly.
This lively restaurant had great food and great ambiance. It was certainly pricey, but if you're in the mood for a Cambridge splurge, Alden and Harlow is a good bet.
Finally had the secret burger before it sold out (went early enough). Other plates were delicious as well. Wish they didn't drop the peloro nerello mascalese.
Great food! Good cocktails.
Fabulous as usual
Wonderfull restaurant, pleasant attentive and helpful staff. Showed up right on time for our reservation and were shown to a table instantly. Dishes were delicious and interesting.
Great food and cocktails, would return
Fabulous food! Fabulous service! Terrific veggies!
We are visiting from LA and were referred to Alden & Harlow. The Secret Burger was the bomb!! Great appetizers....Burrata on a Waffle. Very creative & tasty. I would not hesitate to refer people here. Worth your time. Service was an “A” and so was the dessert....Smokey Chocolate Bread Pudding. 👍🏻🤗
Date with girlfriend to thank her for cleaning my room and being sweet.
The AC wasn’t working. It’s the 3rd time I’ve visited when the AC was broken. Not sure I’ll return.
AC was broken and It was so uncomfortably stuffy and hot. zero recognition from waiters or staff.
This place was recommended to my boyfriend & I by one of our friends. We decided to go for brunch and it did NOT disappoint. This was easily the best brunch I’ve had, and might also be one of the best restaurant experiences in general. A great vibe, great service, and absolutely amazing food. We got the sausage and potato skillet, lamb hash, bacon biscuit, corn pancakes, and cinnamon roll of the day which was a carrot cake cinnamon roll. The potato skillet and corn pancakes were our absolute favorite, but I’d eat every single thing over again... probably everyday, forever. We’ll absolutely be going back to try the dinner here soon.
Comfortable atmosphere, and numerous delicious tapas selections, excellent service! Combining smaller & larger tapas selections worked perfectly for our shared dining experience. Will return and recommend to friends and colleagues. Thanks!
As a person who is not a big vegetable eater, I have to say that the veggies at Alden and Harlow are the best I have ever had at any restaurant. It is also the only restaurant where I can have JUST the veggies. Their wine list is very interesting though slightly pricey.
Food was so disappointing, service was lackluster. Overall too expensive for the low value. Have been to this restaurant several times and will not go back.
Absolutely outstanding! Table was ready at reserved time. The food was impeccable and they gave us a complimentary dessert because it was a birthday! Thanks! I love this restaurant. Every experience I’ve ever had here has been fantastic, they are consistently delicious and the menu is always updated with innovative dishes. I can’t recommend them enough.
Could eat here every day! Amazing food! The clams are my favourite
