Good atmosphere but the food was disappointing. Menu sounds interesting but meals were a let down.
Amazing in every respect, as always.
Outstanding in every way. Definitely one of the best restaurants in Boston, or anywhere for that matter. Every dish was just as creative and delicious as the one before. Excellent service and attention, and warm, energetic ambiance. This place kills it on every level!
Loved the gratis champagne with the check for our anniversary!
This was our 2nd time to A&H...1st visit it was fantastic. This time, good but not amazing...we’ll come back sometime but probably won’t rush back.
We came to celebrate our 40th anniversary. Our lovely waitress brought 2 glasses of complimentary champagne, which was lovely! The food was delicious, though the appetizer I ordered was too spicy (for me) to eat (figs). The waitress wound up bringing us something else, gratis!
Restaurant is lively and maybe a bit too noisy, but then we knew that coming in. I wish you served lattes, but this is a minor point. Thanks for the tasty and fun evening!
Dined here for the first time recently. Very nice waiter - but he sort of "oversold" some things on the menu that were disappointing, particularly the pickled farm pancakes. There was nothing pickled about them - they were totally soaked in maple syrup and were more like a heavy dessert item (except for the peppers on the plate) - way too sweet, could only eat a few bites - and the popcorn and cream didn't help the dish at all. Many items were over-spiced and overly complicated, so hard to eat more than a few bites. Like the brussell sprouts which were overly salty and had too much spice. Again, could only eat a few bites before my tongue was saturated with all the "extras." The burger was overdone and had way too much stuff on it, kind of had the flavor of a big mac - and it came with WAY too many potato chips. You know what was great? The KALE SALAD - subtle, fresh and balanced, could've eaten that thing all night long. If you don't like corn, don't go here - it is in many of the dinner menu items. Dessert was very good - cheesecake, but needed something to balance the sweetness. This place has such good reviews, I started to wonder if there was a "sub" chef in the kitchen that night or something? Not sure if we will try this place again.
Had to ask the waiter 4 times to bring fresh milk for the coffee- 3 times it was curdled milk .
Love this place. Always great food and a welcoming ambiance.
The wine list was subpar, but the pork is good. And the burgers good. Lots of very very strange and weird foods I had no idea what to order, but if you stick to what they are known for the food is excellent.
I did not love that the food comes out when it's ready. BAD IDEA, my friend sat with her burger getting cold while my pork shoulder took 5 or so very long minutes to come afterwards.
Alden and Harlow is clean, chic, and cozy with a monthly-rotating menu. Highly recommend visiting.
Great way to spend our anniversary!
Came on a recommendation from a friend, so glad we did! Makes us wish we lived in Cambridge, guess we’ll have to visit more!
Exceptional food !
We came to celebrate our anniversary , food was out of this world (as usual ) our Bartrnder Brandon was super attentive and provided fenomenal service!!! Defiantly will be back
Excellent all-around! Cocktails, bites and food were all fantastic! Service was impeccable. Very knowledgeable staff.
I wish there were upscale french fries to match the secret burger. The chips were fine, but it was disappointing! The small plates were exceptional.
We have had dinner many times at Alden and Harlow, but this was our first brunch experience. Everything on the menu sounded great! And I LOVED my egg sandwich, delicious! My husband ordered the burger medium rare and it came out well done. Kind of a bummer. We also had the grilled fruit and cinnamon roll, both were very tasty! I will most definitely be going back to try some other items off the brunch menu and hopefully the well-done burger was a fluke.
Amazing meal and service.
From the greeting from the hostess to our farewell at the end of an incredible meal, Alden and Harlow did it right! We had fantastic service, delicious food with tons of variety and a quiet ambiance with good music at an appropriate volume as a pleasant backdrop.
Can't wait to go back next time we are in Cambridge!
LOVED IT!! Best date place with my boyfriend<3 recommend COCKTAILS!! pork belly, duck and blueberry cheese cake!!! Get them:)
While our reservation was for 7:30, our table wasn’t ready until nearly 8. After standing around for some time we got two seats at the bar. The hostess didn’t seem particularly engaged. When I did get our table we were seated in the corner, next to a very loud table of twelve or so.
I’ve eaten at A&H many times and the food is always nothing short of excellent. The service is usually spot on too. Tonight wasn’t quite up to the usual.
This was my second time at Alden Harlow and both times I've enjoyed some excellent dishes but have also been disappointed by dishes with too many complicated and intense flavors which didn't blend effectively. Our waitress was friendly and helpful and we liked both things that she suggested, but two other dishes that we chose were not good with strong seasoning (smelly cheese in one case) that overtook the plate. In both cases we registered our negative feedback with our waitress and we were pleasantly surprised that we were not charged for these dishes and in addition were brought a complimentary dessert (cheesecake which was ok). The wine was very nice and the overall experience was pleasant, but this recurrent issue will keep me from coming back soon. Kudos to the manager for the thoughtful customer service however.
Food and was service was great.
Hostesses were lacking in experience and had way too much attitude.
Having made a reservation and with 80% of the table empty when I got there. They offered to seat me at the two worst tables and had to put my foot down to get a descent table.
Absolutely no need for that.
There are others like me who are put off by that attitude and will think twice before I patronize a place that does not treat me as being important.
This is one of those restaurants that we consistently going back! There are some our always-love on the menu, and we can also find something new on the menu every month! The environment is modest, staff are very nice! Often treat us with tasting dishes to surprise the night a little! There are other 5 star food, 5 star service, 5 star environment restaurants in town. But this is the one that provides an overall 5 star experience.
mediocre food, avocado toast was burnt, coffee was a rip off. tatte is way better and cheaper.
All small lates, all intruing and tasty. Interesting wines, one even from Maine (too sweet, but interesting to try). Plates appear when ready from the kitchen, great sharing, and provide a good chance to share recommendations with neighbors at next table. Our third visit, not disappointed yet.
Great spot. Great ambiance, excellent menu, couldn’t recommend more.
Very nice staff and tasty plates.
Delicious food. You can’t go wrong!
Is our 4th or 5th time back to Alden and Harlow - never (ever) disappoints. Love the veggie options, but fish and meat courses are treats as well. Most fun is to go with a group of 4-6 (all food lovers) and try as many things as you can to sample all the tastes and creative dishes.
Interesting fresh farm-to-table small plates. Really good.
Somewhat disappointed in Alden and Harlow. This has been on my Must Try list for some time, as it pops up on every Best Boston Restaurant list you can find. I love tapas. It's always a fun adventure. (Just went to Casa Mono in NYC and enjoyed that thoroughly.) Alden and Harlow was disappointing in comparison. First, the good-- We went on a Saturday in September. The atmosphere is very hip, underground industrial. Very busy bar, a nice mix of clientele, young professionals, students with money and older adults. The menu is pretty interesting, though pricey. (I don't mind pricey if everything is on point. Tapas dining adds up fast. Expect to drop $150-$200 for 4 people. More if you're drinking.) Without going into a long dissertation, here are my beefs: 1) Speaker right over our table began blaring rap music 15 minutes into dinner and we could NOT hear each other at all. Fortunately, the waitress was very accommodating about lowering the music. 2) A couple of the dishes were not great. One with greasy chips that were flavorless and so hard I thought I would break a tooth. 3) My biggest beef--VERY stingy pour on the wine. I ordered a $15 glass of Chardonnay and was given a 1.5 oz pour, at best. That didn't go over well. So, in the end I felt A&H was a lot of hype that I will likely pass on in the future.
Best restaurant experience I have had in awhile. The service was outstanding. Well staffed, and employees were well trained. The flavor combinations were unique and exciting. The cocktails flavors were also unique and very tasty!
Remarkable experience: The service was inviting, friendly, and efficient and the atmosphere was trendy but not pretentious. The food and drink/wine list is robust, interesting and delicious. I highly recommend this place!
We’d heard amazing things about the burgers - namely that you need to be there early if you’re planning to get one, but everything we tried we loved- from the cocktails to a raspberry cheesecake that I could go back for that reason alone :) also this burgers has a cheese crust inside (yummy). Finally, our server was amazing, very helpful and friendly- we’ll be back for sure
Can’t thank the crew at Alden and Harlow enough for the most incredible anniversary meal! Our favorite spot in Cambridge - always a perfect date night!
Something was off about this night. Food was cold and playing looked hurried. Server (outside) was pretty rushed and largely unpleasant. Her main job was to take the order, and then whisk around and pour water for people.
Great meal well paced.
Great food and fantastic service!
This is the third time I have been here and I am constantly impressed! Had my birthday dinner here and very much loved it! Cant wait to go again!
