Reliably special. Menu good mix of classic A&H dishes and new items. Smart wait staff. A favorite - glad they are still going strong.
We’ve been here many times since it’s opening and we are always impressed with the creativity of the food and cocktails. Keeps us coming back. Amazing and kind service. My only complaint is the pricing on the cocktail and wines is a bit on the high side and the wine pour feels small considering the price. Still worth it for a special date.
Food is delicious and a good value. Never disappoints!
In addition to our wonderful food, we want to highlight our extraordinary waiter, KC, who was beyond helpful, considerate, and professional. He provided us with a very special dinner experience. He's a gem!
Food was flavorful. My partner and I were serviced slower than expected. Each of our entrees arrived at vastly different times. And the interior seemed to be lacking care. (Petty side note: the smell associated with our water cups was less than pleasant).
Could not ask for a better date night. We outdoor seating was exactly what I hoped for.
Really amazing meal. The kale salad and the burger are fabulous. My one issue is that it’s more of a tapas style and comes out scattered when the kitchen wants to send it out. So if you are not looking to share with the table it’s not the spot for you because there’s no “course” schedule..everything just comes out when it’s done
Good place to meet friends for drinks and snacks. Menu items are on the small side and good for sharing, like tapas. Food is spicy with a Mediterranean inspiration. Alden and Harrow seems a misnomer. A name that evokes Spain or Morocco would be a better choice.
Food was mediocre as was service
Brilliant food, very creative and delicious. Service is a bit inconsistent at present but hopefully will return to its traditional attentiveness when the pandemic recedes.
Overall, very innovative and well done. Amazing veggie dishes, from the brussel sprouts to the kale salad to the roasted cartots. Burger was also great!
Very cozy atmosphere and very innovative well prepared foods
They say the plates were small, but they were actually full-size
Very nice experience there!
Went here for brunch and the food was absolutely incredible.
Great food as always. We were assigned a corner table but the service was great, my drink (Blue Monday) was delicious.
My wife and I had a disappointing visit on 09/17. Our table was the worst in the restaurant and you should have tables so close together. I was sitting right next to a hutch servers used facing the wall, the table next to us was very close.
Service was very slow and while nice she gave the minimum effort if even that, we barely saw her and it was not very busy.
The food was pretty good overall and came out quickly and your food runners were very nice. The beef tartare was terrible, very poorly cut and cleaned beef. Flavor was off and it was the worst dish we had on our 6 days of vacation. The pork belly was also not good, to crunchy on the outside and tough on the inside. Very poorly cooked pork belly but the grits were great. The cauliflower Caesar had a very sloppy presentation and too much dressing but the flavors were great and it was a unique tasty dish.
Overall this was not a good dinning experience, we were here 5 years ago on our Honeymoon and loved it. I understand how difficult it is running a restaurant in these times. However, we went to 14 other restaurants on our anniversary vacation and your place was the worst experience.
Great atmosphere, terrific location, creative drink menu and more. Our party of 4 sampled many of the items on the menu and all were delicious. Unique flavors and techniques made for fresh takes on classic dishes. Waitstaff were attentive & friendly. We will be back for sure!
We had a nice late dinner here. Overall experience was good. Service was excellent. Food portion is generous being shareables. I would check the menu before making a decision. Most items on the menu contain some sort of allergen, specifically dairy. However the kitchen was able to accommodate by removing certain components of the dishes.
This is a place that makes you feel fancy. The service was spectacular but I was not a fan of the food despite how fancy the presentation was. A bit pricey for my tastes but had a lovely time and would return if a friend invited me. (Perspective- I’m a cheap burger and French fries kind of guy)
For the most part our dishes were really good, but our $50 stake was overcooked.
It's overall pricey.
Love this restaurant! The food is amazing and small plates allow you to try lots of it.
The ambience and the staff were great, but the food kind sucked. Not sure I would ever go back there.
Worst dining experience I’ve had in a long time. There was a 50+ minute delay between plates… even though our waitress had said that the restaurant is “tapas style,” which suggested that the small plates would arrive in fairly quick succession. Several of the dishes were cold when they arrived. Waited 30+ minutes for cocktails. The food was ok, but absolutely nothing to write home about. Then the bill arrived. I eat at a variety of restaurants, and I can’t remember ever feeling ripped off before. I certainly did tonight. In the end I apologized to my guest and said, “I owe you a dinner.” Needless to say, I won’t return. Alden & Harlow is complete hype.
The good: Very good, locally sourced food. Great cocktails.
The bad: waited +25 minutes to get seated for a 7:30 reservation and they sat someone who arrived after us before we got seated. They were apologetic but not to the point of sending the manager over or any special treatment.
Our waiter was too casual and absent-minded, forgetting to check on whether the Secret Burger was available (it wasn’t by the time he checked) and we heard him apologizing to the table behind for forgetting their drinks throughout their meal.
Excellent food and service, but the restaurant is a little too noisy - we had to shout at each other to be heard.
Great place to
Go with friends!
Amazing food and service! Broccoli, Brussels sprouts, salmon latkes and kale salad were exceptional
Beautiful food, tasty and original, presented in a wonderful order at a leisurely pace. Truly enjoyable night out with friends.
Went for brunch. Brunch menu is eclectic. Definitely a place for sharing plates which was not really apropos during the covid times. But still really enjoyed the food and the server was very nice.
However one point, our server decided to be unmasked at one point continually and that probably wasn’t good.
Food was outstanding! Service was excellent also.
The "patio" is just a table next to idling cars and traffic. The waitress did not tell us it was a tapas place; after we had ordered she said it was "family style" and that dishes would come out at different times. Just tell us this is a tapas place where you share dishes! Otherwise diners will leave hungry!
The grilled carrots were OK, some were delicious but half were undercooked and really hard. I had asked if the "aleppo" peppers were spicy. The waitress said no. :( but they ARE spicy!
All in all, OK food, disappointing atmosphere and service; would not go back. (Go to Dali instead.)
This Harvard area icon has been serving since I started to travel in Boston. I always stop because it’s just fun. First, there is the eclectic area. Friendly, professional service. Notably creative cocktail menu with interesting ingredients, some crafted in house. It’s a popular and crowded spot, yet they don’t make me feel rushed. Enjoying a couple of cocktails and an appetizer was only mildly impeded by ambient noise. Menu shifts so ordering multiple dishes and sharing is the way to go. Ask the servers about dish sizes since they don’t really track consistently. Sample and have fun!
Great brunch and interesting dishes. Get the corn cakes!
Fantastic food with many vegetarian options! Love the cozy atmosphere.
Good was delicious as always, but was a little disappointed with the timing of courses to the table. We received two smaller dishes in a timely manner but then waited for the daily special for over 15- 20 minutes. Dining room was not very crowded so wasn’t sure why there was such a delay.
I’ve heard amazing things about this restaurant, which is why I went. However, I was really disappointed with the service. For a restaurant that charges $14 for four slices of focaccia (it was delicious), I would expect waitstaff who are somewhat attentive. We had to ask multiple times for drinks, water and condiments. I’m not typically picky, and I don’t typically write reviews, but hoping someone from management will see this and try to address the issue. I know it is a better place than what I experienced last night!
Amazing food and super cool environment! Coming again!
Order the onion dip, broccoli hummus, pickled corn cakes, and farm veggies a la plancha. Absolutely delicious meal.
It’s a bit pricey, but not as much so as some other options in the area—and you are paying for uniquely-prepared food you would probably never make at home and the overall experience.
Space and staff was fantastic but not my type of food.
