I have been here twice - 1 brunch & 1 dinner. Both experiences were the same. Good food, mediocre service, slightly over-priced.

Seated within about 10 minutes of our reservation time on a very busy Friday night. Service was attentive in spite of the crowd.

The menu is not expansive, but has a good variety of mostly locally-sourced products. My partner is vegetarian, and we were pleased that there were so many options available. The food was excellent, especially the grilled halloumi. It was so good, we wanted to order seconds, but there were so many other things on the menu that we wanted to try. Another stellar item was the corn pancakes—like the best cornbread you've ever eaten—buttery and moist. Our halloumi indulgence will have to wait for next time.

Serving sizes are of the tapas/small plate variety, and meant to be shared. There's so much interesting stuff on the menu, that it's easy to let your eyes become bigger than your stomach. Pace yourself. We wish we did so that we could've partaken of the indulgent-sounding dessert menu. Next time we'll try to save room.

Excellent beer, wine and cocktail menu. A good variety to satisfy the snob or the slob.

they have strozzopretti on the menu. but in a step of urgency to be too creative they have turned it into a dumpling that was bland and poor texture. It lists black truffle as an ingredient on the menu, but neither my foodie guest or I could taste/smell even a remote hint of truffle. the waiter should have warned us this was a very different dish from the name and it should have real truffle not pretend cheap truffle

First off, the staff were totally accommodating--we were originally seated by the host stand but asked to be moved to a corner table that we'd seen had opened up, and they were great about it. When my date didn't love her first drink, they brought her a different drink, no charge. The food, which was the real reason we'd gone, didn't disappoint. My friend is vegetarian, and there were tons of options for her as well as a totally yummy steak for me. Altogether a fun, foodie, and friendly experience.

First time to this restaurant. Our daughter gave us a gift certificate after researching best restaurants in Boston. Well, the food lived up to the rating, EXCELLENT! Everything was so tasty, fresh, well prepared, and the service was great! I loved the kale salad with fennel and pistachio nuts, amazingly delicious! Best kale salad I have ever had. The Italian Torte for dessert was so light and flavorful! We will definitely be back and bring our adult children next time. Thank you!

We had high expectations and the place looked like it was going to be really good. Instead it was fair. The food is simply not that memorable. The burger was decent but not amazing. Potato chips are potato chips and we wouldn’t be in a rush to head back.

I went for my anniversary and the food was delicious. Small plates so the bill added up, but unusual and terrific takes on food. The waiter was friendly yet unobtrusive. My girlfriend and I were even given complimentary dessert wine for our anniversary!

Outstanding Kale salad.... and i hate Kale!

Very interesting menu, split almost evenly between meat and vegetable choices. Small plates style, so two plates per person was just about right. Lots of local ingredients, prepared in interesting, but not precious ways. We loved the rabbit and the chicken thighs and the steak was perfect for a bigger appetite. and the Ubiquitous Kale salad was really good!

The online reservation site didn't offer the time slot we wanted, but when we called, our preference turned out to be available. The menu is heavy on interesting and creative vegetable dishes served in what I would call "large tapas" style. The kale salad was plenty for 2; cauliflower was delish. We ordered 4 dishes but if you're eating light, 3 dishes for 2 would be adequate.

I've been there many times as I work nearby. I LOVE the food and cocktails. IT never disappoints and this recent trip was no exception. I don't eat meat but there are usually really great options. LOVE the broccoli and the corn pancakes as great stand bys and this time really enjoyed the lumache which was new on the menu and the burrata. But it does add up fast - 3 of us cost $115 pre-tip recently.

We were looking for some good vegetarian options--Alden and Harlow did not disappoint. The vegetarian choices were delicious and inventive as well as satisfying to the omnivores in our group. Service was professional and not intrusive and did not rush us out though we clearly stayed longer than usual--the restaurant was not full because of the superbowl. A very enjoyable evening.

After hearing about this place from multiple sources, I booked a table for my husband and I for brunch on Saturday morning. We were very impressed by the ambiance and vibe of the place. Although it is "underground" there are many windows and the place feels light and very comfortable. My husband also said he would love to sit there and drink coffee for the rest of the afternoon. At first, I was worried about the pricing (moderate to high) because I was expecting small dishes, but each dish that came out was a larger portion and the quality of ingredients used was excellent. I will gladly pay $2-3 more per dish for a delicious meal and great service any day. We are already looking forward to going back to try the burger--heard that's one not to miss!

We met our son here to eat, drink, have fun and talk. We are all 'foodies' and appreciate a good cocktail, and found this to be a great place in both regards. The food features fresh ingredients prepared with a fun and creative flair, while being reasonably priced for Cambridge. I especially enjoyed vegetable dishes made with some imagination and flair; you could have a really good vegetarian meal if you wanted to and not feel left out at all.Cocktails very well crafted and reasonably potent. Service was spot on, attentive, friendly while being professional. A little noisey for conversation, but we managed ok. Overall, five stars and recommended as an excellent value.

The food here is artfully made. The brussel sprouts were the best I've ever had! The latkes were also amazing. Honestly, nothing wasn't delicious. Every dish had a special twist that was bold but meshed perfectly with the other ingredients. The desserts were amazing and not overwhelming, and the drinks were lovely. I would recommend this place for a birthday dinner or another such special occasion. Can't wait to come back to try brunch!

I have been to Alden and Harlow a number of times and usually walk away having enjoyed my meal, and certain dishes have been truly delicious. This time I left feeling like it was fine, although the root vegetable latkes that are on the current menu fall into the delicious category. And the smoked chocolate bread pudding is incredible. I generally do not eat meat, so I cannot say anything about the meat dishes. The current cauliflower dish is just ok. I am a fan of the charred broccoli, although I have had it enough that we did not order it this time.
