Inventive tasty food -- smoked duck belly -- great service, and siting under the atrium was great. Only weakness is the wine list. I wish there were a few great wines to choose from.

Interesting space, very cold despite the 90 degree evening - too cold. Great cocktail (barrel aged negroni) but food a notch below great. Good, just not exceptional. Pretty loud and a little slow, but overall 4/5. I would go back for apps and cocktails for sure

The food was small plate style. All of our items were good other than the secret burger, which was over cooked. The service was amazing and the restaurant is in a good area of town.

Most recent visit was disappointing. The menu options felt a little unbalanced. Some small dishes were nice, some were awkward. The presentation of the white bean and eggplant spread was inelegant/ hard to eat. The corncakes we ordered never arrived. The burrata had a strange, flat taste and arrived to our surprise on a WAFFLE with SYRUP that was not described on the menu. The burger was good but I feel like they oversell and are in love with themselves b/c they have a hamburger that they only make 30 of. The air conditioning wasn't working. The staff brought ice for our water to try to help keep us cool. I brought out of town guests and was sorry about my choice.

We had a cosy brunch with friendly service The food was very delicious. The only downer was that they forgave tables in the garden for people without a reservation and they did not hade tables for those with reservation.

Alden and Harlow is our go-to place for creative food and drink (and their sibling restaurants, Waypoint and Longfellow Bar). They change up their menus all the time, and always have fantastic creative fare. If something looks odd on the menu, order it - because they've made it work.

Always a pleasure.

First thing that struck me was the immense amount of full tables in the restaurant. Once again, more seats = lack luster food rings true as such restaurants like Cheesecake Factory and Outback Steakhouse can attest to. The menu had attractive offerings ranging from vegetables to proteins. A bit confusing to say the least, when it was described as “sharing plates” but then served one at a time like a la carte. Was it appropriate that the rabbit dish came out before the clams? Perhaps. The aspargus was pedestrian and components hard to distinguish; the clams were bathing in a buttery salt bath with toast that looked like it was thrown throw the lawnmower bag. All in all, food was poor saved only by the well mannered service. Our waiter was very professional and genuinly took interest in how we liked (or disliked) the meal. For Harvard Square, prices were fair, service solid, and food respectable for those who live in nearby dorms.

Quite expensive and salty. Music was loud but our waiter had it turned down. Our waiter suggested we order 2 small plates for each person. Some of the small plates were good but everything was very salty!!

My coworker and I went for dinner on a Thursday night. It was our first visit and we went specifically to try their "Special Burger" and made sure to arrive early.

The atmosphere was very nice, the waitress was awesome. She never rushed us and let us take our time reviewing the menu and unwind over a cocktail after a long day.

As for the burger, the quality of the meat and toppings were of very high quality. We were advised the "secret" sauce contained anchovy, but very mild in flavor, so we decided to have it served on the side. Despite this, everything was extremely salty (I believe all in an attempt to keep you drinking). Also, both the brioche bun and burger were very, very greasy.

All in all, I did like the ambiance, the service and cocktails. All were excellent. I would be willing to go back and try other items on their menu but I would make sure next time to find out which dishes could be modified with the most reduced sodium and request no added salt to my dishes. Sodium content should be just as important as gluten or other dietary restrictions and taken in to consideration for all customers.

I've been several times to Alden and Harlowe, but this was the most disappointing to date. Despite making a reservation and at least 30% of the restaurant open, we were put by the seat nearest the bathroom which was far too close to the next table. The chickpea and burrata waffle and smoked shrimp and rice grits were very good, but the fried brussels sprouts were limp and cold and the patatas bravas were way too oily (suggesting both had been sitting out for a while).

I know the food is better than this but I was disappointed.

Great experience and a beautiful restaurant. Staff is professional and friendly. Food is just outstanding. Its a tapas type menu except for the hamburger. The burger is really really good-highly recommend! Had the lamb belly, corn fritters, and the spring onions, as well as complimentary pickled green beans. They're really into pickling, I might add. Dessert was a hazelnut pie. Vodka w rhubarb was great and refreshing. Dinner was under $100 for 2, which is quite a bargain in Cambridge. I would go every week if I lived here.

Wonderful experience! We came here before a show at the Loeb Drama Center. The ambiance is delightful with several different seating options. The staff was incredible. My mom has some trouble hearing with a lot of background noise and the host took great care to find us the quietest possible table available. My brother is also vegan with a dairy allergy and the waiter took great care helping us pick out dishes and offering substitutions for non-vegan dishes to make them vegan. Even the woman who came over to wipe our table down was so sweet and friendly. And the food was sooo delicious! The smoked wheat garganelli was a family fave and should not be missed. Overall wonderful experience here and we would definitely come back again. Thank you to all of the amazing staff here for a wonderful experience!

We hadn't been back to Alden and Harlow for a while. We were pleasantly surprised that the food was just as good as before. We had the burger, clams, pasta and shrimp among other standout dishes. Our table was tight and near the bar and was a little squished. Noise level was high but we were still able to hear each other. Service was pretty good, our server was pleasant and took decent pictures. They seated us right away - even if we trickled in in 2 groups. The pacing of the food was okay with the burger coming in a little later. The bill was surprisingly reasonable despite drinks and a lot of food ordered. Our out-of-town but well travelled relatives loved the food which is saying a lot since they live in Hong Kong where the food is amazing. Will certainly be back!

I have been to Alden and Harlow many times, bringing out of town visitors, on date nights, drinks with friends... and USUALLY its exceptional. However this particular visit left me a little confused. The dishes were extremely overpowering in all its flavors, no nuance or light handedness at all. And while I like bold flavors, I had some of the dishes before and this iteration was far different. They all tasted like someone with a muted palette made them. For example, the roasted Brussels sprouts had the strongest fish sauce and lime juice mixture overpowering any flavor left. And while we were warned about a pasta dish with strong pesto/ garlic flavors it was leagues more intense than I would have imagined for a dish. The chicken thigh was the most salty dish, leaving me gulping down water to wash the saltiness from my mouth.
I'll pretend this visit was a fluke as I've had more than a dozen great memories here but this particular visit was disappointing. I'm also disappointed because I brought a friend of mine here from Singapore hoping to show her my favorite restaurant in Cambridge but we both left dissatisfied.
