Alden and Harlow
While reservations are strongly suggested, we also save a portion of the dining room and bar for walk-ins in the event that your request cannot be accommodated. So please, come on in!
Parties of more than 8, please call to make a reservation.
AC was broken and It was so uncomfortably stuffy and hot. zero recognition from waiters or staff.
This place was recommended to my boyfriend & I by one of our friends. We decided to go for brunch and it did NOT disappoint. This was easily the best brunch I’ve had, and might also be one of the best restaurant experiences in general. A great vibe, great service, and absolutely amazing food. We got the sausage and potato skillet, lamb hash, bacon biscuit, corn pancakes, and cinnamon roll of the day which was a carrot cake cinnamon roll. The potato skillet and corn pancakes were our absolute favorite, but I’d eat every single thing over again... probably everyday, forever. We’ll absolutely be going back to try the dinner here soon.
Comfortable atmosphere, and numerous delicious tapas selections, excellent service! Combining smaller & larger tapas selections worked perfectly for our shared dining experience. Will return and recommend to friends and colleagues. Thanks!
As a person who is not a big vegetable eater, I have to say that the veggies at Alden and Harlow are the best I have ever had at any restaurant. It is also the only restaurant where I can have JUST the veggies. Their wine list is very interesting though slightly pricey.
Food was so disappointing, service was lackluster. Overall too expensive for the low value. Have been to this restaurant several times and will not go back.
Absolutely outstanding! Table was ready at reserved time. The food was impeccable and they gave us a complimentary dessert because it was a birthday! Thanks! I love this restaurant. Every experience I’ve ever had here has been fantastic, they are consistently delicious and the menu is always updated with innovative dishes. I can’t recommend them enough.
Could eat here every day! Amazing food! The clams are my favourite
Incredible atmosphere, food, and cocktails!! Had the best table in the house, a corner table for two for a special night. Couldn’t have asked for a better dining experience all around!
The food was amazing but absurdly overpriced for small plates. 2-3 plates per person were recommended which would cost between approximately $35 or $55 per person. The $8 apps were delicious and well priced.
Service was great. The drink I had was delicious but the food was mediocre. The idea of the plates were a lot more interesting than the actual taste of the food. Restaurant was a bit dark.
The restaurant is in the heart of Cambridge on Brattle street with shops and restaurants all around
Located in the basement level so felt a bit closed in
The menu was far from ordinary but if you are looking to try different tastes worth the effort
Dishes are tapas if not your style would not recommend
The food was delicious nice wine and drink selection
Our waiter was outstanding and great service
From the moment we entered the restaurant, we felt taken care of! The food was inspired, delicious and well priced. Excellent service and excellent ambiance. I can't wait to come back!
Expensive, but well worth it. So special and unusual, every dish is interesting, perfectly prepared and presented, and nothing you'd find anywhere else. GREAT, consistent experience.
We waited a little despite having a reservation, but service was attentive and the food is so great.
Great food and service. My husband had food sensitivities and our server went about and beyond to make sure we were comfortable without choices! Fun and lively environment! Highly recommend!
No burger?! Otherwise great!
Waitress was fabulous. They happily accommodated a late change in number of guests. Food was superb, imaginative, and fun to share.
The food was mostly lovely-decadent and well made. The smoked duck breast was very good. The pasta dish with the bacon and mushrooms was lovely and comforting. Couple of recommendations or thoughts: The pasta dish made with nettles was too mild, I think. There was not enough spike or bitterness to it. It was plainly well made but a bit bland. And the cocktail with mezcal was very tasty but not distinct. These are tiny concerns. The service was great, though there were perhaps too many servers, and that is a bit odd.
Various items were not available on the menu. My drink didn't come until I was halfway through my meal and the server didn't stop by. There was a super large group and a loud guest behind my table. So, I couldn't hear anything.
Best restaurant in the square!!
truly enjoyed the food, would highly recommend this place. we tried the secret burger, grilled mackerel, tuna crudo, the kale salad and the brussels sprouts. everything was delicious!
Loved every bite of the 6 dishes we ordered. What a fabulous restaurant with top quality staff and ambience. I will definitely return.
We had a lovely brunch - fun spot!! Food and service were both excellent
Very crowded so popular but a bit hard to move around. Too warm inside. And noisy - very difficult to have a conversation. The food was good but the portions were just fair. Service was excellent and my Bloody Mary was quite tasty.
10 minutes between being seated and server coming to table. Over 30 minutes between taking drinks and appetizer order and coming back to check on us.
we had the best experience at Alden & Harlow. we celebrated our 2 year anniversary and staff at Alden & Harlow went out of their way to make our day as special as possible. All of the main dishes including broccoli, tuna, trout and pork belly were amazing, the drinks were fabulous as well. thank you for an amazing time!
Many of the menu items were not available. The wine was delicious and the server was attentive and did his best to make substitutions
Had a delicious early dinner on a Friday night before heading to a show at The Sinclair around the corner. Interesting and tasty food. We shared several plates and enjoyed them all. We put an order in right away for the secret burgers - got two for the four of us and that was perfect. Charred broccoli, kale salad, lamb meatballs were all terrific.
A bit pricey for food that has OK flavor. HOWEVER - the bread appetizer that was $8 - was AMAZING. 3 slices of wonderful bread and yummy salted butter. We had an early reservation (5:45pm) and it was about 30% full - LOTS of waitstaff. Our waitress was slow to get to the table, was slow with drinks, brought me mustard instead of ketchup, and it wasn’t really a fun experience. We were in and out in 90 minutes - and by then the place was packed. They do have a nice beer/tap selection. Overall - the place is a touch over-rated.
the food is yummy, but came out at weird times. steak came out 15 mins after other entrees. noisy, but goood for younger people in 20s/30s
Came here for a birthday with my spouse on 3/26. Service was amazing and our server was able to answer all of our our questions about the menu. Food was delicious. Will definitely return.
Everything we ordered was prepared well & tasted great. Our server was a delight who was helpful with menu recommendations & attentive throughout. We did not expect to pay $70/person for what were essentially shared, small-plate selections. While the quality was excellent, we felt the prices were on high side. We visited on a Tuesday for an early dinner. During the early part of dinner the noise level was fine. But as the tables filled up (& every table was filled by time we left), the "quiet" dining experience went away. Ambience was lively & casual - definitely with a young crowd vibe. Not for families with younger children. Any restaurant that can fill every table on a Tuesday night is doing a lot right. Despite a gulp when the bill arrived, we most enjoyed our evening at Alden & Harlow & would highly recommend its menu.
There is a strange smell in the restaurant near the entrance — like a broken sewer pipe
Good breakfast but too much salt being used .
No espresso, so options are limited
Comparing A 2. uneven quality of either recipes/concepts or prep (a downside example, again, was the lamb belly dish: lamb too fatty, reduction heavy and cloyingly sweet).
Upside: smart, attentive wait staff.
Small delicious plates, interesting combinations. Everything delicious and fresh. Craft cocktails, cool vibe and atmosphere.
Surprising spot for brunch - avocado toast, quinoa salad - all fine. Would recommend to others, for sure
I loved my experience with Alden and Harlow! Each dish was creative and so tasty -I was honestly surprised. I expected a good experience with this restaurant, but the quality of the food was above my expectations. The value was also really great! For two people we ordered five dishes and one dessert and it was only around $45 per person, which is much cheaper than you’d get at other small dish places. The cocktails are also delicious! Plus, I lost one of my rings here and the server was kind enough to call me that evening to let me know they had it.
The atmosphere of the restaurant was great and I loved the decor of the whole place. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and the food was good, although a bit on the heavy side. Our first bite was pickled green beans with benne seeds and I thought it was a perfect way to start the meal.
Fantastic restaurant! Loved everything, especially Jen M., who was our fabulous server! Will be back for sure!
Everything was fresh and delicious service was also excellent
