Absolutely one of the best meals in NYC. Wonderful details. Thoughtful touches! Awesome service. Genuinely kind waitstaff. Aldea definitely earned a Michelin 1 Star! This restaurant will not disappoint.

The food is good but the service has to be improved! It took us 30 minutes to seat. Service was very confused with a long wait between courses.

This is a 1 star michelin restaurant with a terrible sub-par service, waiter consistently confused with my dish and my date dish. This should not happen to a 1 star restaurant.

We had the pleasure of an 11 course tasting menu, prepared by George Mendes, and Laurent Gras. Every course was delicious; it's a good sign when we left debating which was our favorite. Gorgeous, gracefully prepared seafood comprised most of the meal, but a little kobe beef course was one of the highlights. The lobster cappuccino was totally loveable. And as a whole, the meal was balanced, light enough, but filling. What a fun experience. And compared to some of the crazily priced places around NYC, a reasonable value for a special event meal.

Very enjoyable evening. Ambiance, food (especially appetizers) and service were all excellent. The wine recommended by the sommelier was outstanding, We were four people and there wasn't one weak dish among us. We also have to single out the warm and gracious presentation of all the staff. We shall definitely return.

Another great meal as we continue our foodie tour of NYC. Portuguese food had all the right tastes. Loved the charred octopus. Another place to go if you want to get away from American fare. Also stayed with the Portuguese theme for the wine. Well worth asking about the wine and trying something new.

Generally good food and drinks but unacceptably poor service for a place this expensive. Our server didn't speak enough English to explain the food, we had to ask multiple times to get drinks, they got us the wrong cocktails, etc. Should not happen in a place of this caliber.

A hidden gem in the Village. Had nice complementary treats to get your palate prepared for Michelin starred Portuguese food. The Hokkaido uni toast was beautifully executed, piquant, and full of freshness. The octopus secondo was tender and juicy and paired perfectly with caramelized yellow peach slices. At last, the duck entree was absolutely stunning. Succulent and delectable.

Reservation was made for quiet upper level. Staff was pleasant. Decor modern but warm.
Food and wines were good. Would go back with pleasure.
But.. food was served lukewarm which was lone disapointment, only food choice available was from "set price" short menu, the very long diversified menu seen on the Web was not available.

Probably the best meal I've had in 40 years of living in New York! They way Chef Mendes layers his flavors ensures that each dish not only tells a fascinating narrative but has a subplot! I'm not kidding -- this is incredibly creative and delicious food!

 (London)·Dined on September 16, 2017

Five of us had a special dinner at Aldea. Often five is a difficult number to work with, but at Aldea it was perfect. We each had the four course prix fixe meal and ordered literally one of everything, with the exception of the third course (there were six choices). And we had two gazpachos because why not.

Everything was excellent. Beautifully prepared, interesting combinations of flavors and textures but nothing too outlandish. We shared everything and there was enough for at least a bite of each.

Excellent cocktails to start and a nice Portuguese cava to enjoy with the meal. The kitchen also provided an amuse bouche at both the beginning and the end of the meal, as well as Madeira to go with the desserts.

Aldea is lovely and understated and blissfully quiet.

Highly recommended for a special occasion.

It's hard to stand out w Mediterranean fare in Manhattan, but Aldea impressed me. I've been to Daniel's, Per Se, Le Bernardin, and many others; and while I'm not saying Aldea is quite in the league, dollar for dollar, they are amazing. Do a wine pairing for some nice Portuguese and Spanish wines.

Came with a friend, greeted and seated promptly at a booth for two. Menus and water were brought right away, although I wasn't asked a preference and tap was poured. Opted right away for tasting menu and was very pleased. Amuse bouches came out quickly and the dinner continued with excellent timing. Stand out of the evening was Uni with Spanish mackerel finished with a light broth made from bonito flakes and seaweed. Prompt professional service. Gifted port with cheeses, very pleasant. I yearned for a couple more plates, but overall great value, and experience, will most definitely recommend and return.

Last time I had a dinner at Aldea was about three and half years ago, and I was amazed by the food and service already. Three years later, I was again amazed by the consistently good quality for food and service. I took my husband for birthday, and they even served us complimentary dessert for the occasion. I would highly recommend Aldea for everyone who wants to experience good food and good service or to celebrate special occasions. You will not regret your choice!

I will certainly be back again - and it won't be taking me three years this time. :-)
