Excellent, superb, as always Aldea exceeded my expectations! Highly recommend doing the wine pairing too, all Portuguese wines presented by a very knowledgeable female somm.
First visited Aldea when it just opened - the foodie culture was just beginning and the place felt original and I was blown away by the affordable haut cuisine. 10 yrs later Aldea is still here, which is impressive and a testament to its quality. Although it doesn't feel as delicious or inventive as it did back then it's a solid dining experience with attentive service. I suggest taking the counter for a more informal feel and to see the workings of the well-oiled machine that is George Mendez's kitchen.
Outstanding restaurant, from the monument you walk in to the place to the end.
The ambiance is nice, different than the hectic New York style at other comparable restaurants. Food was amazing.
Amazing food with Portuguese flavor.
They ran out of an entree selection. The best one. Very disappointing. They should have anticipated this and had the adequate supply or simply not listed it as a menu offering when it was not.
Waited 30 minutes to be seated as well as several other couples.
Food and service was above standards.
My wife and I always have a great dining experience at Aldea. We highly recommend all of the delicious food and eagerly look forward to our visit every month. Give your tastebuds a real treat and visit this wonderful Michelin starred restaurant!!!
Phenomenal. The courses were gastronomical heaven, service was top, and the ambience was clean and simple. I appreciated the attention to detail, as well as the subtle showcasing of Portuguese cuisine.
Consistently, outstanding restaurant with excellent and warm service.
the food was spectacular, the prices a bit steep. Service was attentive & when it was time for dessert, we were given plenty of time to relax and enjoy our final course
It's my second time at this restaurant and I loved it as much as the first one. Creative cuisine, great service, excellent dishes.
Must try the egg tarts! Amazing
Nice intimate space. Great food and service. Very happy with our meal.
Great food and ambiance, every single dish was cooked to perfection and the flavors were well balanced. Less is more and here is perfectly displayed; dishes with only 2 or 3 components that allow you to taste every single flavor. Outstanding
Portuguese Finest, the quality of the food and the execution is espectacular, remarkable wine list. Well deserved Michelin star!
The meal was a perfectly crafted experience. Fantastic!
I treated my parents to dinner at your restaurant. They enjoyed their experience so much! They loved the complementary dishes from the kitchen. The pictures from my parents meal made me so hungry. Next time I’m in town I will definitely stop by to eat.
Was underwhelmed by the food due to the caliber of the restaurant. The sauces or broths often lacked flavor or seasoning
Aldea was an excellent representation of fine dinning Portuguese cuisine. The food was fun with a great amuse bouche and truly stellar service. There is a tasting menu in addition to al a carte. Do not miss dessert as it was excellent. The menu is seafood heavy but also has options for those who are not seafood people. Overall a wonderful experience.
A special place. Not like all the others. High quality and gracious service.
Boyfriend’s birthday & New Year’s Eve
The waiters welcome us kindly during the new year eve. The interior design is simple, and atmosphere is good. We ordered the vegetarian four courses to pair with wine - it was quite an experience. The food itself is good but not mind-blowing, but it is magical to do with wine pairing. The only thing I’d say is that the background music selection is quite distracting for dining.
Amazing Food! Amazing service! The wine pairing is a must! Absolutely fantastic chef' menu and the services was absolutely stellar and knowledgeable.
The prix fixe menu was on the pricier side for us but was an amazing experience! Every dish amazed.
Another wonderful dining experience at this fine restaurant. Highly recommend the fresh crab first course, the farmhouse egg second course, and the third course diver scallops with foie gras!!! My wife and I will be back very soon!!! Absolutely delicious food!!!
Great food, great wine, very nice and attentive service! For sure will come back.
Had reservations and when we arrived no one was there to receive us, once the hostess did pop out they didn’t have a table ready so we waited a little longer. Food was good. Not a great ambience overall. Not sure why the michelin star. Don’t think I would go back.
Overhyped and overpriced. Having just returned from Portugal and looking to satisfy my cravings, I found Aldea to fall short of my expectations.
This is my third time here in five years . The food has gone down. It is not as special as the first two times I was there . The cocktails and wine list is still great . Service is good but not exceptional. I felt that the menu is not very intersting. And execution of the food could be better
The tasting menu and wine pairings were among the best I’ve ever had.
Grate as always, service, food and wine selección all was excellent.
Not what I was expecting. Food was pretty good with the exception of one of the amuse bouche (although they called them something different) which really tasted like something had died in your mouth. Both of us had the same reaction and thought it was a pretty off way to start a meal. For the following dishes, some nice flavors and textures, but plating and service was much more informal than I expected for the price of the meal. Also, the space was quite loud.
I wouldn't say it was a bad meal, but for $500 for two (with one cocktail for one person and one glass of wine for the other), I had higher expectations.
The food was impeccable. Flavors we're top notch. Very attentive and friendly staff. Coming back again.
When I read reviews for this, I saw a few negative one stars... those people are crazy. One of the best dining experiences my wife and I had. We were celebrating my wife's 30th birthday and Chef, George Mendes and his amazing team delivered. The Sea Urchin Toast was delicious to start with and the Cod and Lobster were incredible entrees. It was all paired with a beautiful white wine recommended by their incredible team. They brought out a special dessert for my wife with Happy Birthday written on it in chocolate sauce on the plate and a candle to boot. Great experience, don't listen to the haters.
Meah! It was not very memorable. The Sea Urchi toast was all of 2.5" x 1" and I couldn't identify any flavors in the two bottles you get (definite minimalist). Looking back to Sat. I can't even remember the entree! The grape sorbet was good.... I've eaten in many countries around the world at great place where I can remember everything about the place and the meal. This place was not one of them. Maybe just a bad night. Excellent service
We celebrated my wife’s birthday and food was awesome. Service incredible. Aldea is our obligated stop Every time we visit NY.
Gracias por el gran servicio.
