Very original and delicious food, in a very nice setting. Bravo!
We went to Aldea 1 year ago and it was exceptional.
We went again last week, and were disappointed by the food. We understood that a French chef left the restaurant; and this might be the reason for the decrease in quality.
We will not go back again...
Sat at the chef's kitchen table to see the kitchen in action. Menu was simple and elegant as the service was spot on. The food showed the beauty of the country.
Need to go back !!
Had been once before and loved it. Years ago. Have since been to Portugal. Lisbon and Algarve. Thought would be awesome, since kept Michelin Star, to bring friends in town from SF who are also foodies. And we traveled to Portugal and ate great food with. Was very disappointing. Food. Service. Prices. Def open to paying good money for great tasting menu, but this was more miss than hit, unfortunately.
Sat upstairs and shared a wonderful evening with friends. Excellent, creative dishes beautifully presented. Impeccable, attentive service, professional but not stuffy. Very good wine list.
Amazing experience with food quality, presentation, service and great wine..highly recommend!
The food was outstanding and the price fixe choices were great. Wine wS very good and priced about right. The staff were very friendly.
I have one minor criticism: we arrived at 705 for a 715 booking and were made to wait ten minutes even tho’ our table was free and the place was not busy. This is not the hospitality you’d expect from a Michelin 1*.
An absolutely incredible experience. The food was AMAZING, the service outstanding. We were offered and took a counter seat overlooking the kitchen. Other than, it was a bit warm, it was sheer perfection. It felt like being at the ballet, watching a well orchestrated group of professionals with obvious pride in the preparation and presentation of their food. Chef George Mendes worked as hard as and often harder than his sous chefs. An absolute pleasure watching the owner take such pride in his work. The food was AMAZING and a good value considering it is Manhattan and a Michelin starred restaurant. Very creative preparations result in beyond the ordinary flavors. I cannot wait to go again!!!
This was a great find. The dishes were interesting and tasty. For the 3 of us, we shared a total of 6 dishes, of which 5 were outstanding and the other very good. That represented about half of the available dishes, including all 3 categories (essentially small bites, first, and second courses); the restaurant should expand their menu! We were well-advised by our server about the wine and had an excellent Portuguese bottle at a reasonable price.
Our meal was delicious. We had two Prix Fixe meals with wine pairings, and each course was full of flavor, depth, and beautifully presented. We really enjoyed the experience.
My partner has gluten and dairy allergies, and that did pose some difficulties (that is why I am giving 4 stars, not 5). I called ahead to make sure that accommodations could be made, and was told that it would be fine. While ordering, there were a number of confusions by the staff about what could be made gluten-free, what had dairy, etc. One server would say something had dairy, while the next said that it didn't, which made us nervous. This issue was most likely not just the service staff's fault, as it seemed the kitchen was giving them mixed signals. Initially, my partner's dessert was served on cookie crumble that contained dairy, which was quickly remedied.
Aside from the hiccups with the allergy accommodations, the food was good, the service was warm and friendly, and the space was really cute.
Everything was great! Would recommend.
Good food, but there was a lack of flavors from the dishes considering their price point.
Superb! Food and service were excellent. Shrimp appetizer was very tasty and duck was very nice.
Completely undistinguished, surprised at high ratings
Wonderful food, service, and atmosphere.
The food was excellent, traditional, as far as I can tell, with some creative twists. Service was friendly but not what you would expect in a one star Michelin restaurant. But the noise! The small tables! The ambient! Very, very uncomfortable and repellent. This is too bad, because the quality of the food was not matched with the rest of the experience. Sadly, not a good restaurant.
The server spilled an entire beer on me. We were there for almost 4 hours (in soaking wet clothes) for a 4 course meal. To top it off, we were overcharged at the end of the meal.
Interesting, sophisticated, small menu. Lovely, quiet atmosphere. Attentive service.
Beautiful food, absolutely great value! Must try the Portuguese sardines and the Sohnos for dessert!
You can’t beat the price for a four-course Michelin-starred NYC eatery! Dining here is a transporter jaunt to Portugal. Delish. Muito bem!
Amazing food! Took my daughter here. I am Portuguese and I can't rave enough about the Chef and his cooking of Portuguese food!
Outstanding Portuguese Michelin starred resto. 4 course menu is the way to go. Outstanding. Obrigado.
20th wedding anniversary
Beautiful space, delicious food, excellent service...not cheap, but worth it
Food and service was great.
We had dinner at 7pm on a Saturday and it was nice and quiet, started filling up quickly afterwards but the noise level remained moderate. Great place for a conversation. Service was immediate and excellent, but not pretentious. The prix fixe dinner is great value for the quality. Try the sonhos for dessert.
It was magnificent!
The service was vevy bad, my wife eat the duck rice and was cold on the inside, it appears that had been prepared before, and reheated was bad.
The appetizers had no taste.
Desert was as expected.
Restaurant was closed when we arrived - even though I had made reservations and had confirmation. Never going back to this place
Superb service, I got to watch the magic of the kitchen. I chose the four course dinner with wine pairing.
Presentation was beautiful and the connection to Portuguese dishes was an intimate appreciation for the traditional cuisine with a 21st century mindset. Well done, Chef George.
Delicious, refined food from appetizers to dessert. Impeccable service. Excellent cocktails and selection of wines by the glass. The $85 price fixe, four-course menu is an excellent value.
It’s one of those places that you try and never come back. We used to go to Lupolo and loved it but the quality of he food at this place is not even close to Lupolo. The cod was hard, the urchin tasted bitter and too seafoody. The drinks were delicious though
The cod fish was extremely salty. We mentioned(didn’t complain) to the server when he came over to check on us. He said that all cod fish were salty and the chef didn’t even put salt in the dish. That was quite surprising to us as the cod we normally had were fine
Best mediterranean food in NYC for sure...
Everything was amazing, will definitely come again!
The food was very good, but the menu is limited.
Absolutely stunning experience. Everyone was kind and generous with their service. Food was simple yet mind blowing. Try everything, including dessert.
Food was excellent but the menu is a little limited
