Average at best.
I reallyyyy liked Aldea! We came here to here to celebrate my mom's birthday and everyone thought it was a great choice! The food was very good, from the presentation to taste! The service was excellent, the waiter was really helpful and everyone was very nice. The ambiance was nice and cozy, not too loud but not too quiet. I would definitely recommend Aldea!
Went for anniversary dinner and we were very impressed, the menu is very concise and well executed. The setting is very comfortable but still has a nice ambience about it.
It was absolute magic. The service was very attentive. The courses were very aesthetic, delicious and clean. The chef, Romain, is an absolute sweetheart. Always a joy dining at Aldea and I always look forward to their seasonal dishes. Thank you team Aldea for always making our experience so special!
Extremely disappointing. Nothing special about the food. The service was horribly slow. None of the waiters could explain what we were eating. They placed next us to a staircase on a narrow pathway which was dimly lit.
First time guests. We went here to celebrate a promotion at work for a friend. We were lucky to change our seats from a regular table to the chefs table. The chefs were quite busy, no interaction from them. The chefs did accommodate a request from us. Food was okay, nothing really stood out or would make me want to come back for another visit. Even the The host and bartender were great. The staff who filled our water and replaced our silverware were on point. But our main waiter was missing quite a bit.
The food and service were wonderful.
Excellent food and nice experience being at the chefs table overlooking the open kitchen.
Very good and tasteful food. I enjoyed every bite of eat. Nice and attentive staff. Ambiance and decor was unpretentious with a sophisticated elegance, clean and modern lines. It is a place that is worth coming back.
The food and service were both excellent. We loved all the food, the first and second course being our favorite.
Good service and great food - we had a nice evening with a good bottle of wine and very creative kitchen.
Puristic place with bar and a few tables
Will come back
Excellent food and service
Great food and ambiance. Dishes were fresh, clean and simple - that’s really all you need. We were able to see Martin’s influence of George. Definitely a return place.
We had Avery enjoyable evening at Aldea. The food was well prepared and the wine pairing was nicely done, except that the sommelier always poured less wine for the females at the table than the males. The dessert course was our favorite. The cheese plate and chocolate cake were excellent!
Enjoyable and well presented meal with excellent service, but food was a few dishes were overly salted and food, while good, was less creative / interesting than one might expect from a Michelin starred kitchen. Decor was very professional / elegant, if a little dated.
This was our first visit and hopefully we will get back there again soon! Able to sit at chef's counter which is always a favorite for us and this was no exception. The food/wine pairings were perfect as was the service. Wonderful in every way!
The service and the food were both excellent. Wine pairings are worth it.
Food was superb, wine pairing was great and interesting. Service was amazing. All around a great experience.
Dinner was worth it. Food was good. Service is ordinary
Food was very good. The main course was very good for both my husband and myself however both our first courses were outstanding. Light and delicious. The salted cod and the white asparagus with crab were both fantastic.
It’s too expensive for what it is.
Food was really disappointing. Loved Aldea in the past, but it’s obviously in decline; I would recommend dining elsewhere.
The food was really wonderful. The beignet dessert was worth the trip alone, the lightest I've every eaten. They even have an amuse bouche which was terrific. The food arrived warm, and the service was very friendly but a little distracted. We were upstairs, the table are close together and it got pretty noisy by 8pm+. I'll try it again at lunch.
The experience at Aldea was unforgettable! The food was delicious, the service outstanding and the ambience delightful. I highly recommend Aldea for a special occasion!!! You will love it!!!
Simply a wonderful dining experience!
We had the best expectations going to this Michelin Star restaurant. We did the tasting menu hoping for a experimental food story about Portuguese food. Unfortunately this was far from the case. This review is not about the service, but about the food & environment.
Our first clue should have been that no one else was ordering the tasting menu but off the menu. However, IMHO the tasting menu should showcase a chef's POV and take us for a journey.
We got seated in the back room and it was hot and stuffy. The first course started out with a great taste. But as we went along there were major misses: Shrimp was over cooked, mushrooms used the same way in too many dishes, and a couple of heavy courses too close to each other without palette cleansers. In fact that was my favorite part! Mostly because it was cold and refreshing where i felt heavy and hot in the room.
Also the plating was often too much, uninspiring and it was hard to understand how to eat and enjoy the flavors. Instead they are all separate so you had to "choose your own adventure".
The service noticed we were not enjoying and gave us extra dessert. Like waaaay too much at the end, when we were already full. I appreciated the gesture, however we were done.
I would not recommend the tasting menu. Perhaps something on the regular menu - since the people around us seemed happy. And to be sure NOT to sit in the back room.
I would also not consider this a Michelin restaurant at this time. It is currently a disappointment to that honor.
Went here to treat my husband for his birthday. Had a great time! Had the Chef's Tasting Menu, and everything was excellent. Wait staff were very attentive and knowledgeable. It was a bit pricey in my opinion, but maybe that's really what you get when dining at a Michelin-starred place. Nevertheless, we were very satisfied and would come back again.
We had the four course tasting menu with wine pairing. The pairings were outstanding, so was the food. Pricey, but worth it.
As always, the meal was delicious. A great way to celebrate my birthday with my wife.
The food was delicious and I would highly recommend requesting to sit at the chef's table so you can see them prepare the meals. It was expensive, but definitely worth it for a special occasion.
We did the chef’s tasting menu and wine pairing. It was phenomenal. The preparation and presentation are beyond. Sat at the chefs bar beside the kitchen. Recommend!!
Wonderful tasting menu and great selections of wines from the wine pairing menu. Really well prepared, presentation, interesting and delicious menu. Will go again.
Terrific Food, amazing professional service! Lovely, relaxing atmosphere, great for a romantic date or special occasion. Excellent selection of wines and food tasting options. Food was well prepared and presented and delivered on flavor and taste.
We had the chef’s tasting menu with wine pairings. It was delicious and innovative without being self conscious. Just slightly more than the right amount of food - which is perfect. Thoroughly enjoyable, and the staff was attentive but respectful of our privacy. I’d definitely recommend Aldea to friends.
What a meal! Top shelf Michelin Star!! A “must go” in Manhattan! The attention to detail on each course is heavenly! Eat HERE!!!!
very average - no idea why it has Michelin star:
okay food, poor ambience, ok service but nothing to write home about!
Went with a food friend, sat downstairs. We chose a 4-course menu of our own choice with wine pairing, but not the tasting menu.
Overall a great experience, some dishes better than others but simply a matter of taste. The squid was a favourite. Good wine pairings, too.
The only strange thing was not having a coat room or at least not offering it to us or to anyone around us. We visited in May, so we were only wearing light jackets, but considering the rain outside it would have been nicer to leave our wet clothing and umbrellas somewhere other than on the floor or bench next to us.
One of the best scallops dishes I've ever had. Also the beignets were the best dessert I've ever had.
A very nice restaurant with a low key ambiance, great service attentive staff and a varied take on Portuguese cuisine.
food was excellent. service was perfect. only dessert... just fine...
