Enough portion and the food was nice.
We loved everything about Aldea. We did the four course prix fixe. All of the dishes were wonderful. The wine recommendations were well matched to our dinner, and the service was impeccable. Highly recommended!
The wine pairings skewed unusually sweet, otherwise everything was absolutely perfect. 8-course tasting menu is worth the time and expense, service was pleasantly brisk without making you feel rushed in the slightest.
We visited Aldea for a birthday celebration and decided on the tasting menu. The service was incredible and the food was outstanding. I highly recommend it.
Food is great! Both tasty and creative. Also got some surprises given for free, which is not on the menu. Pricy but worth it!
Had a 9pm reservation and wasn't seated until 9:30pm. At that hour, that's really pushing it. Food and service otherwise were phenomenal.
Pretty simple, don't schedule reservations you can't keep. I would have picked a different place if I knew I'd be seated at 9:30pm.
They were very attentive during our experience. The staff was so friendly and great. They accommodated my husbands mushroom and seafood allergies. They made our anniversary very memorable.
Absolutely charming! Went with my sister to get a little flavor of our homeland of Portugal in New York and was not disappointed. Although some dishes has some Asian influence the true Portuguese dishes were off the so sumptuous in flavor. The Pasteis de Nata were almost like the originals from Belem, Lisbon. Which is hard to achieve!!
Fantastic restaurant with steady quality, service and overall satisfaction. Well done! 👍🏻
Such a delicious and fabulous meal! I treated my husband for his birthday - and while a bit expensive, worth it! Amazing cocktails, too.
Thank for a great experience.
Some dishes delicious, some just fine, lovely server.
Delicious and creative food and wonderful wine pairings. Staff is attentive and friendly.
Great food, with friendly service. Wait staff had a great knowledge of the menu and the wine list, and could provide good recommendations. Despite being very busy, it was all very efficient. Noise level was low, so we could hear each other talk. Great price for the quality of the food.
Beautiful, delicious, Michelin-star menu for a completely normal Manhattan dinner price. I took my (very picky) boyfriend there for his birthday, and even he was impressed with every plate. The scallops + foie gras entrée just melts in your mouth, and the egg tarts at the end blew us away.
Service was excellent, wine menu - especially the dessert wine menu - was perfect, and the food was inspiring. The $89 four course prix-fixe menu is an absolute steal. We'll be back!
Food is delicious but a bit much in price. Spent $250 for dinner for two.
The foie gras dish is excellent. The menu is quite limited.
Great food and wine pairings at a reasonable price. Staff were knowledgeable and friendly
Excellent food and service. Food's presentation is also nice. Staffs are very patient with questions, and the kitchen gave us small treat as well. Decoration and lighting is relaxing. Definitely recommended.
Inventive take on traditional foods that was very well done. Price still reasonable for the food quality.
Perfect food, at a good price with excellent winepairings. Unexpected!
Excellent food and service. I highly recommend it. We enjoyed all the 4 courses on the fixed price menu.
This was my first visit to Aldea and I was impressed with what Chef George is accomplishing in the kitchen. My favorite dish was the diver scallops, which came with a bit of torchon of foie gras over each scallop. The quality of these ingredients was incredible, and they were both melt in your mouth perfect. I also love the new 2 story mural which is painted along the entire wall between the entrance door and the dining room, containing artistic renderings of wisdom and faith sketches from Portugal. The entire staff was very friendly and professional. My only complaint was that the seating in the first booth had worn out padding, which should be replaced to keep up with the otherwise exception dinning environment.
Wonderful! Amazing food, excellent service, great wine menu,...
Food is great but the table are a little crowded.
Food was good but not enough to justify the price. The wine pairings were good but again, not worth the money.
We have both been to Portugal, and loved the food and wines. Aldea has all of this, and at its price point, provides unequaled food quality and value. Very simple and elegant decor. Portuguese wines one can't get in non-Portuguese restaurants. Definitely plan to return.
Exceptionally thoughtful menu with impeccable service and presentation. Open kitchen shows off the talented team working beautifully together. Food an absolute delight. Service superb. Ambiance OK but no matter.
The best meal we have had in 50 years of travels to NYC. Superb service and knowledgeable, friendly, efficient staff. A definite must for foodies and those who want an exceptional dining experience
My wife and I had a wonderful dining experience at this gourmet, Michelin starred Portugese restaurant. Chef Mendes has added new menu items and we very highly recommend the foie gras appetizer, the grilled squid in black ink second course, and the cod and 60 day aged beef entrees. All were delicious. We will be back very soon!!!!
Great modern ambience open to the kitchen. Every bite was incredible. The four course menu was a great price for the experience.
We requested the Chef's Table and what a fantastic experience. Watching Chef Mendes and his team was like watching a well choreographed dance. The skill and precision with which they work was phenomenal to watch. We were mesmerized and could not take our eyes off the show. It was a busy friday night yet the kitchen had this remarkable air of calm and confidence. None of the loud chaos you'd expect in a busy NY kitchen, this was a spotless space with a meticulous staff. We watched beautiful plate after plate come together with eager anticipation and admiration of Chef Mendes as he personally inspected each plate and moved from station to station helping - even mixing dough at the pastry station at one time.
The food was delicious, every dish we had was wiped clean. I'm Portuguese and the flavors in the dishes were reminiscent of flavors from my family home cooking but with a fresh, high end flair. I was a little nervous because good Portuguese food can be hard to "upscale", but Chef Mendez has nailed it. Basic Portuguese spices used in creative, inventive ways to create remarkable dishes. I was so impressed.
The tomato-strawberry gazpacho was like tasting summer. As beautiful as it was flavorful, the perfect balance of flavors and textures. I could have a bowl every day. Even my husband, who normally despises gazpachos, could not get enough. The famed shrimp alhinho did not disappoint. We had the scallops and arroz de pato as our entrees. Even though both dishes had surprising ingredients we normally would not have liked, they were perfect complements and the dishes were phenomenal. We finished with the pasteis de nata, one of my favorite desserts and Aldea's tasted as fresh, warm, and light as my mother's.
Chef Mendes is a genius and his attention to detail is evident in each plate. Overall wonderful experience, I've recommended Aldea to everyone I meet and will make it a stop everytime I'm back in the city.
Over priced and unmemorable meals. Wont recommend it
Compliments to the chef for an amazing experience. Thank you!
We had a great time celebrating my fiance's birthday. The service was excellent, and the seafood are amazing!!
The upstairs was not comfortable, it was too warm. We complained about it a few times, but no action was taken.
Rice in arroz con pato was undercooked. Waiter in a condocending fashion said it was the cooking style. Later a manager came to apologize and say the rice indeed was undercooked. We had two of these entrees and they offered to take one entree away. Doesn’t make sense. The deserts were supposed to have some salt, but in this case they had overdone it. The potato crisps in the bacalao were soggy. The main waiter had an attitude that didn’t match the average to poor quality of the food. There were bugs in the wall and the airco was dripping water on my son. Overall doesn’t even come close to one Michelin Star.
Lovely anniversary dinner!
The food and service here were excellent. Very modern, fresh take on Portuguese dishes. The calamari was sublime as were the beignets.
