This is a neighborhood go-to for us. The food is very good and the service is very accommodating. A neighborhood gem, really.
The food was delicious, and the service was fantastic. Top notch service. The wine pairing for the chef’s tasting was simply enjoyable and delicious. One of the best I had ever had. Thank you.
A group of inconsiderate people were constantly annoying. Maybe tables are too close together!
Most of the dishes were spot on, and the charcoaled octopus and diver scallops were extremely delicious. However, the salted cod dish was missing some flavor and was overall quite boring.
However, service and the wine paring were both great. My only complaint about the service was I felt a bit rushed. Food and wine were served immediately after the previous course, and we finished in a hour. Slowing it down a bit would be appreciated.
Consistently delicious, beautifully presented dishes. Well balanced ingredients. We ordered the sea urchin toasts twice! I haven’t ever had scallops this good. The service was attentive, even though we sat upstairs of the main dining room. Absolutely coming back!
We were greeted warmly and the food was excellent.
We had a wonderful meal at Aldea. The four course menu was perfectly cooked and the wine pairing was spot on. The grilled octopus and the sea urchin were delicious. The service was friendly, attentive and informative. Overall an excellent spot.
The one drawback is that the seating along the stairs is far from ideal, and I wish we had been seated in a place with less traffic. But lesson learned for next time, as we will happily return in the future!
Excellent food, each dish was flavorful and unique. Loved it! It is now one of my favorite restaurants in the city.
The food was incredible!!
Everything we ordered was phenomenal! 🙌🏻
One word encompasses Aldea - Superb!
New fantastic, highly recommended items on Chef Mendes’ Aldea menu include the delicious iberico ham from the famed acorn fed pigs and the charcoaled octopus. Of course, we also loved the foie gras, divers scallops, and the 60 day aged steak. We will be back again very soon!!!!
The flavors are magnificently simple, coastal, and Mediterranean. Unlike anything I've had anywhere else. We had a wonderful time sitting at the chef's counter seeing the dishes' preparation in action.
Definitely save for a special occasion. Food is good but still very pricey for what you’re getting.
Aldea was one of the best dining experience we have ever had! We went to celebrate our recent engagement, and it was the perfect place to celebrate. The service was excellent, from wine recommendations to re-folding napkins if we went to the bathroom. As for the food, every bite was exquisite! What a wonderful, memorable celebration. Thank you, Aldea!
5 stars all around. Wonderful experience!
I would recommend it to anyone who likes strong flavors in their food. The food was exquisitely prepared and the cocktails were excellent, too.
Sat at Chef’s counter for the first time (have been several times before”) and really enjoyed the experience
Terrific meal with truly delicious food! Best octopus ever!! The cod was delicious and the amaze-Boucher of crispy beet with goat cheese was outstanding!!, but the frozen caipirinha may have been my favorite! Highly recommend for after theatre special day in NYC!! Or any other day!
Fantastic as always.
The new menu is a must try!
Amazing food and attentive service as always! Knowledgeable sommeliers! We love Quinta do Moinho 2001 - excellent value. Wonderful dinner!
wonderful service. lovely food. wasn’t too hard to get in at 5:30
Attentive service. Thoroughly enjoyed the wine pairing and tasting wines we knew little about to discover were excellent. Food also excellent flavors and generous servings. Downside- pricey.
One of the best meal i ever had. Everything was perfect.
Our annual pilgrimage. Always excellent food and service.
A little expensive for the amount of food but good quality
I’ve been here several times and always love it
Food is phenomenal. Only had better at Chef's Table. Service impeccable. It's basically perfect.
Amazing culinary experience.
An absolutely stunning meal. Every course was full of flavor and texture and beautifully presented. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and excited to share the chef’s vision of Portuguese cuisine.
We appreciated the choices offered within each course; there was something for everyone in our party.
And, our waiter recommended a perfect bottle of Portuguese wine to accompany our meal.
Finally, if you do not treat yourself to the Dessert Cocktail you will be missing one of the greatest pleasures ever... EVER!
delicious but pricey
Excellent, superb, as always Aldea exceeded my expectations! Highly recommend doing the wine pairing too, all Portuguese wines presented by a very knowledgeable female somm.
First visited Aldea when it just opened - the foodie culture was just beginning and the place felt original and I was blown away by the affordable haut cuisine. 10 yrs later Aldea is still here, which is impressive and a testament to its quality. Although it doesn't feel as delicious or inventive as it did back then it's a solid dining experience with attentive service. I suggest taking the counter for a more informal feel and to see the workings of the well-oiled machine that is George Mendez's kitchen.
Outstanding restaurant, from the monument you walk in to the place to the end.
The ambiance is nice, different than the hectic New York style at other comparable restaurants. Food was amazing.
Amazing food with Portuguese flavor.
They ran out of an entree selection. The best one. Very disappointing. They should have anticipated this and had the adequate supply or simply not listed it as a menu offering when it was not.
Waited 30 minutes to be seated as well as several other couples.
Food and service was above standards.
