Had an awesome experience at Alcove. From the food to the wine to the prices, everything was fantastic. Highly recommend!
Alcove is a welcoming place with very creative fresh inventive food and exquisite service in a beautiful space. That would be enough BUT it is also sits in full view of the Zakim and Charlestown bridges with lively waterside activity including the Water Taxi at Lovejoy Wharf. You can enjoy all that complexity from outside in warmer weather but you can watch the show in comfort in winter. Excellent!
Good brunch- innovative egg dishes and great fries!
I have been here for dinner and it was amazing but brunch was a totally different experience. Largely due to one waitress who was obviously having a bad day but it ruined the meal. She never brought our drinks, and had to be reminded several times. Also she spilled milk for tea all over the table and never came to wipe it up as it was dripping onto our bags! Unbelievable! She also just had a bad attitude. I also think it gets confusing to have so many people waiting on one table , other people kept coming over. I wouldn’t go back. Food great but not worth the horrible service from this woman.
Had a wonderful time at Alcove for my birthday meal. First of all the service was outstanding. Our waiter Erik was wonderful and attentive, and when there was an issue with leaving a tip (while using a gift card) he essentially refused to let us go get cash from an ATM/bring him back money, and almost wouldn't tell me his name as he didn't want to us to go to great lengths to provide his adequate tip. As far as the food - oysters and octopus were outstanding! The charcuiterie plate was amazing in terms of the meat/flavors it had, but would have benefited from more pickled vegetables for acid, and some sort of bread/cracker/starch to eat the meat with. Cocktails were also creative, tasty, strong and not too sweet - delicious. Would definitely come back.
Super friendly staff, from the welcome at the door to the servers, Knowledgeable and passionate about food and drink as well. Lively ambiance: noise level made convo at our table of 4 almost impossible even tho we were seated at the far end of the room, away from the bar area. Great for pre-game drinks/ dinner (near the TDNorth Garden).
Started dining at Alcove shortly after they opened and have never been disappointed. The food and service are excellent. We always look forward to our next visit. Quickly became one of our favorite places to eat in Boston. Have recommended it to many friends and family.
Food was fantastic, and you don’t feel like you’re over-paying for it (in portion size and in quality). Everything came out perfectly seasoned and at a comfortable eating pace for a laidback lunch. Each dish felt unique and fresh without being a hodgepodge menu selection. Servers were friendly and attentive to our table’s needs, while maintaining space. Highly recommend trying any of the bar’s well constructed cocktails, and for food definitely the chef’s selection of house pickles (even a sworn pickle hater at our table couldn’t help but reach for more), and if you’re there for brunch the house pastries are a must.
Good food - busy spot but they keep on top of things - vegetable focused dishes turn out to be the stars
Random choice and well worth it! Easy walk from TD center, Marriott at Tudor Wharf or things near USS Constitution.
The holidays lights outside were lovely and welcoming, and every staff member we met was friendly and helpful. The wine selections, cellar, and unique organization were all exceptional. The menu is creative to the point I needed to ask about a couple items- wasn’t sure what they were. Got great explanations and recommendations from our servers. The appetizer with the dough bites, prosciutto and mozzarella was delicious. My pumpkin soup was underwhelming, lacking flavor and richness, though the seeds provided a nice texture. My husband enjoyed his burger with bacon and pickles. The fries were only about half-eaten, and likely would have been gone if amazing. (I didn’t try them.) Dessert menu had some good-looking options, but we were too full to try them. We’ll go back another time for coffee and dessert. (Noticed a nice espresso machine in the back!) And I could see myself craving those dough bites in the near future!
Alcove continues to mix it up in the kitchen with very inventive delicious new dishes that become my favorites. The service is always impeccable with well trained servers and an owner who has his finger on the pulse daily. It's always a pleasure on every level and has become our "go to" for sure.
We were there for a celebration brunch. I will admit, had I looked at the menu, I might have chosen elsewhere as the brunch options are relatively limited. Given I know how great the food is at Alcove, I decided to lead the group at ordering for the table, making this a small plates feast with shrimp, avocado (oh heaven!), hummus, a salad (delicious!), and lobster salad, then some splitting of larger plates. Our server was quite helpful on a bottle of Proseco. We will go back again to Alcove.
The food, service, ambiance, it was all wonderful!!!
Service was OK, our server was attentive at first then disappeared for a long time. Food was incredibly bland, save your money and go somewhere with better food.
Good for quick bite before Celtic's game. Had the burger and the grill cheese. Very good.
Alcove is our go-to in the neighborhood. Not only do they have a great menu, but the food is delicious and the choices are just enough. Not to mention the servers know their stuff and when recommending wines with the food and they are spot on--Thank you Patrick! We always have a memorable experience here and it sets the tone for the rest of the day or evening. Outstanding place----try it!
Best brunch in Boston!!
Food was mad good, def going back
Brunch was good. Poached eggs and pork belly was definitely a different take on a egg breakfast dish and it was really good.
Alcove was a big disappointment , we went for New Years Eve and the food was not up to the standards of a high end restaurant at all .. our server was pleasant and the space is nice .. it was also very loud!!
I dined at Alcove for New Years Eve, which I understand is a busy night, however our server was giving fantastic service to the table next to us and left us neglected all night. Luckily another server saw our displeasure and picked up his slack very well. Other than that the food and atmosphere was very good
Service was good, loved the look of the restaurant. Just didn’t love the food. It was all just “okay”.
We got stuck in the corner not a very inviting place to sit. I won’t go back
Great staff. Great food. Great time.
Good food, nice wine, great staff. A very pleasant experience in a great part of Boston. Go check it out👍
It was our first time bringing our 3 week old infant with us to a restaurant and it was Christmas Day. From the moment we walked in, until the moment we left, we simply had an extraordinary experience. We were seated at a table on a banquette in the dining room. Our sever was attentive and the food was exquisite. ALWAYS opt for caviar service at The Alcove and make sure to dive into the spirits list! For a sexy date or a family supper - The Alcove is a sure bet! Now a household favorite!
I have dined at Alcove several times and had great experiences. However, Christmas Eve 2019, the food was good but the service was awful. Our drinks, that we ordered first came midway through the meal. The server apologized and said it would be taken off our bill. The server did not return during the meal or after. We had to go tot host at the front door to ask for the bill. The apology we received seemed insincere. He offered to "take care of us IF we every cane back". As we were leaving, the server came to clear the table. I asked what was the problem, did they all of a sudden get busy? She said, "I could give you a lot of excuses, but you just got bad service". So, I guess that said it all! My dinner partners says she will not return. I might give them another chance, maybe it was just an off night.
The food was creative and delicious and the service couldn’t have been better!
Hidden gem in Boston! Great view of Zakim Bridge and very nice ambiance. Food was delicious and great service!
A major disappointment on many levels. Most importantly the service was disgraceful - rarely saw our server and when requested things from him it took more than 15 minutes for him to meet these minor requests (such as plates for sharing the shared plates !). The food was below average - for example the mussel toast was a huge piece of delicious bread covered with potatoes but ONLY 2 mussels !. over selections were overpowered by spices, herbs, salt. The place was packed and the kitchen was obviously overwhelmed - our food did not come out for a very long time which the manager recognized, was very apologetic and provided a nice compensation for our woes (thank you, Brendan). however the service could have been much much better rather than just ignoring us. Improving the food should not take much effort.
Started with one server who was great and attentive, then he left at some point without saying anything so we were unattended for a long time. a new girl came to our table without greeting herself and was terribly slow. I had to ask yet a third person for my check.
We were there celebrating my engagement which was not acknowledged in any capacity. The menu was very expensive for what it was. will not return.
Brunch enjoyed by all. Lovely warm reception from hostess. Nice atmosphere. Good service but seemed to tire of us - refills on the coffee were not going to happen.
Raves from half the party about food, other half felt food good quality with mediocre preparation (overcooked toast, way undercooked bacon).
Would return, but we walk past an awful lot of other potential options on the way...
The location has amazing view. The service was excellent. But the noise levels are very high and it is impossible to keep a dissent conversation going (maybe it is intentional).
I was really disappointed with my steak tartar. It was suppose to be half and half mixture of meat and beets, but it felt like 100% beets and really no special flavor. Every thing else was good.
A hidden gem in Boston. Great vibe, fun menu, good food and outstanding service.
Meals were super. The team service approach is the best. Our first time and we will return for sure.
Nice table, great service.
Love this restaurant - consistently puts out great food for both lunch and dinner service.
