This place exceeded my expectations, and I expected it to be great. The food was outstanding. Very unique dishes that clearly required a lot of thought and skill. So much amazing flavor. Fantastic service, beautiful ambiance, and, for what you get, unbelievable prices. I can’t wait to go back!

What stands out about Alcove besides the location, fun ambience, always-attentive waitstaff, and lovely touches in decor, are the unusual menu choices. Next to me, a woman had something fabulous served to her; maitake mushroom over polenta with a black garlic base. It was a beauty. You can have a hamburger and add in bone marrow. Or sea bream with sauce vierge. These were eaten at the table next to mine to rave reviews. We opted for moules-frites, roasted half chicken, brussel sprouts and shishito peppers-being maybe not so adventurous. The peppers-amazing. Fried, not spicy-hot.The brussel sprouts, currently found on every menu I've seen; not predictable due to the shallots and balsamic. The chicken and mussels also fantastic. And portions-we found them just-right to large. We left totally full and completely pleased. We will definitely return. Alcove, packed on a Monday pre-Celtics game, is welcoming, well priced, unique, and worth a visit. Alcove is a keeper. They do everything right.

Our 5 star + experience at the mere 5-6 month old ALCOVE
was a complete reflection of owner Tom Schlesinger-Guidelli. He is one of few Boston restaurateurs with perfectly executed entrepreneurial, management and hospitality abilities. Location = extraordinary, with breathtaking views of the Zakim Bridge ( outdoor dining available with improved weather conditions). The dining areas and bar sleek and spacious, with noise level well under control, in spite of a “ busy scene” the evening we dined. **Big points for exceptional staffing- Tom has magically gathered a crew with his self-same sincerity and warmth=all services were provided seamlessly. Tom watched “ the floor and the action “ discreetly —- a newcomer!?! Very smooth operation:)
FUN EASY CUISINE, rather “SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE.”
Burgers, roasted chicken, whole fish and numerous small plates for sharing.. even a fab formaggio cheese melt . Pay attention to their offsite parking instructions at the nearby Courtyard Marriott.
We’ve already booked Mom’s Day here.
If you’re in tune with BEST new spots to frequent= don’t miss ALCOVE. This ones a WINNER.

Relaxing late lunch. It was late lunch for a group of friends to catch up. The servers were knowledgeable about wine and the menu. different meals-- and everyone was pleased. The person having steak frites declared it the best she ever had. Folks who had sandwiches said fries were outstanding. Best part was although we were still talking when lunch service should have ended they let us stay at the table and talk and order more wine.
Views from our window table were wonderful. I highly recommend this restaurant

Great new venue by TD Garden. We were seated next to a very loud party, requested a move and were accommodated right away. Drinks were great - Brussel sprouts, prosciutto, burgers and chicken all very tasty. Service very attentive. Would definitely go back and would make sure to ask to not be seated in the area they can close off for private room. Acoustics not good over there. Looking forward to seeing if they have outdoor patio seating in better weather!

Poor service. Waiter took 15+ mins to ask for drinks and another 20+ mins to ask for any appetizers. He came back only once during the course of the meal to ask for more drinks or any additional orders. No recommendations for food were given. The seafood which was ordered was borderline cold. Good ambience and vibe in the restaurant.

I was really disappointed in this restaurant today. Service was not friendly or informative. Salad was so bitter as to be inedible. Fried chicken sandwich was made of dark meat, which I do not like at all. I wish someone had told me that. Dessert had field greens (again, bitter) on it. The only good thing was the bloody Mary. We won't be back.

Amazing service! The table before my reservation was taking longer to pay the check so the manager got us a high top table and a free appetizer. we had an outstanding waiter Patrick who also brought us drinks on the house. they did not need to go above and beyond as we only waited about 5 minutes but they really showed they care! will definitely go back!!

We arrived just as the afternoon rush was leaving. We were seated at the window so we could see both the Zakaim and Charlestown bridges. The service was wonderful, they answered all our questions with a smile. The meal was amazing. I put this restaurant on my list to come again!

This was our second visit and it was much better. You can’t always judge a place on a crazy day like Valentine’s. We decided to give it another go. Our server Henrique was welcoming, attentive, warm, efficient and just lovely. This second time also, the drinks and oysters were wonderful, so there is consistency there. We are still not fans of the rest of the menu. Choices are limited and the chicken was not as juicy as anticipated. Also long beans with the dish need some more flavor and the rice had no garlic flavor as described. The other staff we interacted with were also professionals. I didn’t think I would be back so soon. Happy we gave it another chance. The manager is on top of things and wants you to have a great time. See you soon, don’t worry not too soon. ;)

The service was friendly and very responsive. We loved the location and atmosphere. Wine selection is varied and interesting. The menu offers a great deal to choose. from We focused on the seafood options. The shrimp small plates was a bit dry, but otherwise, everything else was so delicious. This is a great option in an interesting spot in Boston.

Food was mostly phenomenal. Cocktails, appetizers (Brussels sprouts and octopus), wine, and the branzino were delicious. The mushroom entree was inedible- it was dry and tough. Overall though, I would return for the food alone. The ambiance was also great- lively but not too loud. The service, however, was awful. There was no clear staffing system- we had a minimum of 7 different people wait on us, including 2 waiters, and different people bringing the food out and clearing our table. This inefficient system led to a lot of mistakes: 15 minutes without a menu or waiter, 30 minutes without wine after having ordered it, receiving the next table’s dish- twice. In sum, the food and ambiance at Alcove are excellent, and thus we will give it another try. But the service needs quite a bit of improvement. Hopefully they’ll revamp their table service system.

We were impressed with the views and location of the Alcove from previous reviews, but were disappointed when we were placed in one of four tables located in the far back of the dining area. Our view was relegated to a removed and noisy corner near the kitchen with absolutely no view. I would have been fine with the situation if we were a walk in, but we had reservations. We ate our food quickly, and moved to the bar to get desert.

Had we been seated virtually anywhere else, I think it would have been a better experience, my recommendation would be to request a view when making a reservation.
